Talk is easy and cheap, Giovanni and Fred are doing the work.

This was interesting, but IMO would have been better as a structured debate with equal speaking time & no interruptions

Agree with Giovanni. It's not that Bitcoin grows cause it gets recognition. Bitcoin grows and does its own thing thanks to his properties, by doing so, ATTRACTS ETF CEOs and istituitions. These gets attracted, persuaded by Bitcoin properties, returns, and see potential benefits. For ETF CEOs perhaps all they care might be trading volume, as they make billions on that. Each individual, company, form or state recognise the Bitcoin power and want join the revolution to benefit from it. So this confirms the fact that is not Bitcoin affected by news, but is the people and the news that are affected by Bitcoin. Thanks Giovanni for your work!

Poor guy got demolished by Gio lol
Much respect to you all for openly discussing. Gio, your data and conviction won me over! I’m all in !

Luke's math is "a little more back of the envelope". Lol. No, we call his math, wrong. Gio's math is "back of the envelope" to be honest, which at least has some logical basis in reality.

You shouldnt let the critics get a rise out of you Gio. It gives them power even though you are right and they are wrong.

I have a question. You state often how scale invariance happens when a system grows at the right time and at the right proportion. You state it’s like a feedback loop responding to its environment. Do you have any theories on how this happens? Is it quantum entanglement combined with the law of attraction that creates this environment? Any data you have to support why scale invariance occurs?

    • @quantonomy
      @quantonomy  4 дні тому

No, it is more mundane mechanisms. For example, Bitcoin needed to grow in terms of infrastructures, cap, people involved, impact on society and so on before large institutions decided to be involved. Everything is proportional like that in the history of Bitcoin. Actually the scale invariant growth is an expression of this.

Gio en Fred are right lol. Luke is like a Jehova's witness. I think blabla, but I can't back anything up, but I still stick to my argument.

Giovanni, you’re impassioned. I love that.
But in a scientific debate, passion does not help prove your points.
Simply state the power law formula and the exponential formula in x, where x is a transform of time or adoption or some other parameter, etc.
Then plot best fit for both against a scatter plot of BTC price vs time or price vs address count non-zero sats since first valuation. Plot in linear-linear, log-linear, log-log. Then ask your debate opponent to refute.
    No passion required.
Passion introduced by one debater inspires immediate passion in the other. The other debater is more likely to respond with passion rather than reason.
Please stop the passion. It doesn’t help in a debate. Use simple argument. Less words. Don’t interrupt. Don’t curse. Please.
The first statement: “It’s too early”. Fred’s answer was simple and to the point, truthful and without passion (paraphrasing): “Seven orders of magnitude.” An excellent refutation.
Luke mentions that he doesn’t understand “scale invariance”. A very simple response would be to cite Geoffrey West’s excellent book, “Scale”. Inspire Luke to read “Scale”. Luke is a very smart person, but he needs to understand the principle and value of scale invariance. I think he’d be curious.

I'm Italian we have passion. Why people in America are so scared by passion?
To use American feel too cold.
