    This is so helpful. My main incentive for buying my MacBook was for entertainment and I have now found the Music app on my iPad pretty useless. I only have access to music, and videos I bought before they put a stop to it!! I can’t buy anymore but the video I most want is available on UA-cam. So I’m going to subscribe to UA-cam.

    You also can drag and drop a folder (importing) with mp3's , AAC or ALAC (Apple Lossless) files on the Music App. Than it shows the albums in the app. You can also edit the tags. FLAC files are not supported in this app.

I don't see the Search options you show, because (as you stated) I do have a subscription to Apple Music. Apple really botched the Music thing. I know that iTunes became bloatware, and breaking it up was a good idea, but they screwed up the process. I have a very large library of my own music that I had built since iTunes first arrived, but it was ruined when they started the whole iTunesMatch thing, and it went downhill from there. I really wish that they had kept the iTunes library and Music thing seperate. I am a subscriber, because I had already become caught up in the sandbox, and I still believe they will defeat Spotify eventually.
    Be great if you could do what  can't, Gary, and tell me how to reset Music back to the beginning where you input your music preferences. Mine still recommends those chosen by my wife, and she has been dead for six years.  tell me to simply start again with another ID. Fine, but then what happens to the myriad of purchases I made on the old iTMS? They can't be transferred across IDs.
    Steve would be fuming.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  5 днів тому

      Sorry, I don't have a solution for you. Apple IDs were always meant to be for one person and Apple Music preferences, like the various social media feeds and streaming TV networks just don't work well when there are multiple people there. All I can suggest is to keep playing music and eventually the preferences will catch up.

    It’s interesting that Apple doesn’t default to sharing my music library across devices the way it wants the photo library shared, something I have to keep turned off to save memory. As for streaming I find the UA-cam Music which is free with Premium superior Apple Music.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  6 днів тому

    Apple Music sounds better than Spotify but it’s a mess especially if you have legacy music from iTunes.

      Not sure what you mean by "a mess." I see my legacy music and my Apple Music additions as I would expect. With something else like Spotify I wouldn't have my old iTunes purchases at all.

      Not sure what you mean. Streaming music is paid everywhere: Spotify, UA-cam, Tidal, Amazon, etc.
