824 Tons Heavy Transport | Transformer High Girder Bridge

- An overall 824 tons heavy and 102 meters long formation transported a 416 tons heavy transformer from the harbour of Emden, Germany to a nearby distribution station on October 21, 2017. For this, the High Girder Bridge and a self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT) of the Baumann haulage corporation were applied. The total weight was spread on up to 400 wheels.
The 416 tons transformer is 13 meters long, 4 meter wide, and 5 meters high.

The last bit that was edited out is the scene where they finally set that iron behemoth down at the customer's site, and announce "Here's your 300 kilovolt, 25 megawatt three-phase XYZ-5000 transformer!" Then the customer says "300 kilovolt? 25 megawatt? But we ordered a 250 kilovolt, 30 megawatt four-phase XYZ-6000 transformer!" The delivery guy checks his clipboard and says, "Uh.... oops!"
At which point everyone else dives for cover as steam erupts from the foreman's ears.
Don't think a four-phase transformer exists..... :-)

Ich finde solche grossen Schwertransporte unheimlich spannend. Wie das alles funktioniert und vorallem die Präzision der Fahrer. Wahnsinn. Hut ab. Solche Fahrer haben meinen höchsten Respekt.
ja, Faszination Schwertransport seit 38Jahren bei mir . die Leistung der Fahrer und Mitarbeiter ist dahingehend noch beeindruckender, als dass sie das mitten in der Nacht machen, wo sie oft tagsüber an lauten Orten in einem im Sommer sehr heißen Fahrerhaus schlafen müssen und zudem wahnsinnig viele Stunden im Monat arbeiten... ich hatte es vor 20 Jahren versucht( Transporte bis 4m breite und 26m lange, also winzig im Vergleich zu hier, dafür zu nur ein bf3 dabei und nicht 15 Mann die mitgucken), aber mit dauerhaftem Schlafmangel war ich nach 3 Monaten fix und fertig...
Hut ab für alle die diesen Job machen

Imagine doing a pretrip on this thing. Better yet what the guys in the tire shop say when the driver pulls in needing new tires....LOL
the guys in the shop were doing a salto and do order lots of bee, steaks and book the next vaccation. 180 tyres (without the spmt) with each 10€ for the wallet...
Einfach nur gigantisch! Da hilft nur ein ultra Weitwinkel um alle Achsen und Räder ins Bild zu bekommen ;-)). Super Aufnahmen. Ich denke da immer gleich an den Cargolifter, nach wie vor eine tolle Idee, wie einfach dann Schwerlasttransporte würden, aber mit max. 160t Last. Gruss DrDuu

What is the use of middle SPMT on this turning? Why middle axles inserted?
there was a Bridge to Cross for which the Road Departments gave the Obligation to separate the heavy heavy load on more axles. the easiest was was an spmt.
emmm, I am not sure why the flat car will drive to the bottom of the heavy cargo. To let the car turn ?

I sincerely prefer brands like Tatra, MZKT, and Oshkosh, because they make beasts that can go anywhere and nothing big is going to happen, Mercedes is fine but for road transport... But I respect your opinion :)
All that effort, all that time, all that man power, all that heavy/ modern day machinery to move ONE 824 ton piece of equipment, and we're supposed to believe that humans 5,000 years ago moved huge stone blocks with similar mass and weight across the desert?? Thousands of huge stone blocks, mind you. And not only did they move them hundreds of miles but they then managed to stack them hundreds of feet high with geometrical precision. Either ancient civilizations had better and more sophisticated technology than we have today and it got lost or recovered by the government and they're keeping it a secret from the public or these ancient people didnt build the megaliths we see around the world today.
But if you think about it, even if they had better and more sophisticated technology, by moving those stone blocks, some hundred or two hundred men could easily die, and it could take days to carry it, nowadays there are no slaves, no one dies, nor do they take days to transport things of such size...
Think about it, today's humanity may be even worse than 5000 years ago, but one thing we've improved on is security, and human rights :)

the Costs and amount to built a factory ob Site to built IT on Site would bei much much Higher. and after this one built in Site, everything has to be dismantled to Bring IT to next in Side...so If you are so clever, why dont you do it so? i Bet there were many Road Departments and villages who where Happy about your method...and the poor man Here had Not to Work at nighttine...

Ein Tieflader würde das bestimmt alleine packen :D
Aber nur, wenn die Straßen oder Brücken dies aushalten. Und genau das war hier das Problem. Ab 2:00 siehst du wie an einer problematischen Stelle ein Selbstfahrer unter dem Trafo positioniert wird, um das Gewicht pro Achse noch weiter zu reduzieren.

es gibt da so ein paar Griechen, die wohl vor garnix halt machen... die würden den TRafo wahrscheinlich auch noch auf ihren 2achs tieflader packen..

416t Erinzelladungsgewichts, sind auch auf der Schiene kein Witz . so weit ich weiß haben die größten Schwerlastwaggons 32Achsen und 450t Nutzlast, also wären diese mit 424t Ladungsgewicht zu 93% ausgelastet. das nenn en sie ein Witz!?

So? I've never understood why folks equate those items with doing a safe job, 90% of the time those are items that end up being in the way and either causing an issue or being throw off so the job can get done.
Say something does go wrong and that rig falls over. If you're caught in its path, not even all the PPE in the world is gonna save you.
i have never understood why the authorities make it so much harder for the firms doing these jobs by making them travel at night. surely daytime travel is safer and easier. Ok a few people might be held up but no doubt these moves are well publicised to give people time to work out a route round it. I also cant see how the first and last six axles on the bogies are taking any weight
I think they're to better distribute the weight, or better maneuverability, or things like that :)
Because its the only practical time to do it - I wouldn't be surprised if it was a Saturday or Sunday night.
Your not 'holding a few people up' , you'd cause total gridlock for miles which believe it or not has economic impacts that runs into millions. Take myself for example, I'm a mobile engineer charged out at £65hr, every hour I spend sitting there my employers loosing £65hr in revenue + my wages - multiply that by many people...
What your basically doing is making local businesses take a financial hit so Siemens can make a profit.
You'd create havoc for fire/police/ambulance services due to the huge traffic gridlock.
And how is the thing going to continue along it's route with the surrounding areas completely gridlocked?
Plus would you really want to be doing this with the added pressure of knowing the roads has got to be clear asap? I know I'd rather do it at night where I can basically just concentrate on the task at hand without worrying about the added pressure of doing it in the day - that would encourage rushing the job which is FAR more dangerous.
@@deezelfairy in some Casey you are absolutely right, but there are a Lot of extra huge Transports in Germany at day time . i live in Germany and beeing heavy haulage Fan since nearly 40 years.. and in france as in Australia and canada, its ONLY allowed in daylight. and If you have a closer Look at heavy haulage Videos from These countries, your worries for Traffic Chaos are not so huge as you wrote or predict. Not every extra huge Transport Runs in Rush hours at the mainly used roads in a Metropole. more than 50% of them are in the countryside where more often the infra structure is easier with These dimensions without dismantling every light and crossing Pole to Pass through. Only the middle Dimension Transports run mainly between 22 and 6 o clock...
