Rewatched this! Every time I wrote to her, she wrote back. Poems at Christmas! What a class act! We love you, Liz! Rest in peace, Liz! You, dear lady, WILL BE MISSED!
Hi Alan Just saw a report that Elizabeth Hubbard has Passed Away. A Legendary/ Iconic Daytime Actor. Such Sad News. Her Various Co- Stars (including Martha Byrne) must be feeling very terrible with this news & will look back very fondling of her talent & her as a person in the coming days. RIP God Bless
I once sent Ms Hubbard a Christmas card back in the 90s and she sent one back! I couldn't believe it. Then she would send me many wonderful poems that I still have. What a wonderful person she is!!
Lucinda's BEST COMMENT EVER was when Lily and Holden were planning their wedding and Lucinda starts to state all the wonderful plans she had and Lily interjected "well, Mother" we'd thought we'd have the reception at the Snyder Farm" and Lucinda stopped and said..................."OH........cold cuts....!" LMAO!!!!!!!!
If Elizabeth Hubbard was British, they would have made her a Dame by now!!! She is so fascinating and intelligent and savvy and looks absolutely ageless for 88 years old!! What Liz says near the end of this chat about not choosing to be an actress if she was a young woman today broke my heart and she's right. The acting craft is almost non existent in today's performers. We have lost something so precious and irreplaceable.
Right On! She also was on the German Soap Opera Verboten Liebe. She played The American Mother of a Character. Also he like Maeve Kinkead was a Radcliffe Graduate. In the UK there's a Soap Opera called The Doctors As well where Stirling Gallacher played Dr. Gerorgeanne Woods aka "George" who is now a Lesbian Icon on Coronation Street as Paula Martin. She was also on the he UK Version of The Office as well as the Comedy Series Little Britian. Here's a funny story, As Dr. Althea Gibson she had Lunch with a friend and if it were today she would have had "Lunch". When she was in Europe the Fans had no idea who she was in terms of her US Soap Legacy and they were impressed.
I literally do not remember my life without Liz Hubbard on tv. I grew up watching The Doctors, and then followed her to ATWT. How the hell does she look the same, now, as she did 35 years ago? So charming and witty and spirited. Brava!
Alan I’m sure I speak for everyone at how thankful we are for you to bring these wonderful people to us on these video chats. When the show ended it was devastating and sad to not have these wonderful characters come into our living rooms every day. You by doing this for us, the fans, means more than you will ever know. Thank you so much. It is so great to see the amazing Liz Hubbard and the wonderful Martha Byrne on today’s podcast!
This will probably be my all-time favorite of these wonderful reunions. Just great. Elizabeth Hubbard is 88 fricking years old? She’s absolutely remarkable and still such a beauty. And Martha Byrne is so fabulous-articulate, funny, warm and interesting. Thank you, Alan.
Thank you so much Alan Locher, Elizabeth Hubbard and Martha Byrne! We fans really loved this. I enjoyed it so much. Elizabeth Hubbard was one of the first actors I wrote to when I was a teenager and I actually still have her signed autograph which I will always keep in a safe place and treasure! It even lived through an ex-husband! Ha! If Elizabeth decides to write a memoir, sign me up and I would read it! Take care you all.
Elizabeth Hubbard has no equal. Truly the VERY BEST! I have especially missed her as Lucinda. This video is an extraordinary gift to us all. I thank Ms. Hubbard for agreeing to this interview and I thank you Alan for your tireless efforts to bring these reunions to us. My heart still breaks that they took our beloved ATWT from us.😢
She seems as vibrant as ever.Always enjoyed Elizabeth's portrayal of Lucinda Walsh and thanks to Retro TV I was able to see her work on The Doctors .Also loved Martha Byrne as Lilly. They had wonderful chemistry as mother and daughter. As The World Turns will always be missed.
These two ladies helped make As The World Turns such an awesome soap! Also, Elizabeth Hubbard should have won several Emmys for here role as Lucinda on ATWT!!
Almost forgot Mary Beth Evans "Days of Our Lives" did a stint as her daughter "Sierra" after Finn Carter left, Wow! I remember way too much about these shows, but I was really into them back then, that was my escape and still is but not as much, older now and life with all its ups and downs happened, but will always treasure the golden age of the soaps, sadly long gone but never forgotten by us "true" soap fans and it was great seeing these two together again, one of my favorite mother daughter duos on soaps all time...
I'm so glad that Elizabeth did this for us today. It was great seeing her as herself and talking about her craft and career. What a great way to welcome a new month into the year.
Yes, so wonderful! I only disagreed with her about Douglas Marland, who definitely wrote for Lucinda! I am so glad I have gotten to see her work on The Doctors over the past 6 years too!
@@freemangriffin4953 That comment confused me because Marland wrote Lucinda front and centre. Was Liz referring to Lucinda's storylines mostly being her connected to Lily's narrative? In that sense, I understand, but she did get a storyline about her character's origins towards the end of Marland's run, when the two siblings came to town.
I missed this interview when it aired the first time. So good to see “Lucinda”. She looks great! There’s one line of hers that I will always remember. A great comeback to Lily, when she was treating her like a child. “I was once your age, but you were never mine” (my age) I always thought that was profound and would be a great line for a song. I wonder who wrote that and if Liz improvised a lot?
Seeing all these wonderful stars of shows we grew up watching is so wonderful during these crazy times. It makes me feel like every thing is going to be okay, seeing familiar faces like Lucinda and Lily. Liz is indeed a national treasure.
I believe I could listen to Ms. Hubbard all day and learn so much from her. To Alan I love this idea you have created I hope it continues when our lives become the new norm. Thank you.
Love this so much! Martha was unfortunately right about how things are very different today. Back when she was cast as young Lily, things were based more on talent that looks and the audience knew that even then and I think there was more respect for that. It's shameful what has happened to daytime TV.
Another success, Alan ... everything was perfect. Everything about Liz and Martha has been said, so let me throw a little thanks to you for knowing just to sit back and let the actors talk. Your love and admiration for the genre and its actors and legacy shines through.
I remember that adlib, "Darling, 'Simply Barbara' without Barbara simply wouldn't be 'Simply Barbara'!" And Elizabeth delivered it in such a way that it was both campy fun and completely in character.
Hello and Thank You Alan. My name is Jaymes and I've loved all soaps throughout the last 40 years! At 7, I began watching ABC daytime. Not until 1985, did I see CBS daytime. When Craig met Sierra on ATWT, I was hooked on the CBS shows. Mainly ATWT during Marland's Tenure. So, I've loved all of your webcasts! This one is so my fave though! And to see Bob and Kim tomorrow, is a fantastic present!!! Can't wait! Thanks so much for doing this! Jaymes.
I love Elizabeth's comment about giving space, creating space...letting things come to you...so true and so good to hear this. I could listen to Elizabeth talk all day!!!! Thank you all so much!
Phenomenal soap opera. The absolute best one in daytime television history. An iconic unforgettable cast and best plots ever. My best two ladies were the legendary Lucinda Walsh and the twisted sister Barbara Ryan Stenbeck. That psycho James made Barbara as looney as him. Two iconic scenes I'll never ever forget. When Barbara dove out the courthouse window and when she knocked out Hal and drove into the mental hospital to save Will🔥 Soaps of today don't compare to ATWT. It's a miscarriage of soap opera justice that Ms Elizabeth near won an 🏆 for her phenomenal portrayal as Lucinda Walsh. Reprehensible😵😫😵 Great upload I needed this.
Thanks Alan for what you are doing to bring these videos to us. Love seeing these actors again. These 2 ladies are very interesting and beautiful and I love their relationship. I always watch the classic episodes, they are the best.
That's why I love both ATWT and GL both casts were truly family and the adults would show authenticity with a gesture of straightening the hair and clothes or gentle touches and embrace that was real 😊💜💜
I wanted to add to my 1st comment, I want to also Thank You for asking Elizabeth and Martha a question that I had requested. You asked them about their work with Scott Bryce and Finn Carter. I loved their responses. You're giving every soap fan who watches these episodes, a treasured chance to see people and characters we all have such respect and admiration for. 👍👍👍😊😊⭐️. Jaymes.
I could listen to Elizabeth Hubbard tell stories for days. Has she done any audiobooks? If not - SHE SHOULD! Classic literature read by Lucinda would be THE BEST.
Huge treat to see both, but really amazing to see Liz Hubbard looking the same as the last show. I always kind of felt bad for the AW fans for what ATWT did to the AW characters, killing off Jake and Vicky. At least it turned out the twins survived.
I am in HEAVEN! T HEAR and SEE the GREAT "LUCINDA WALSH" again is beyond glorious. Lucinda is looking the SAME as she did 35 YEARS ago! God, i LOVE her. And, "Lily"!!

Loved Elizabeth Hubbard as Lucinda Walsh. Wish we could have a renewal series of both ATWT and GL. I am sure there are a lot of new writers and producers out there who would love a shot at wanting to recreate or continue the story line 10 years later.
One of the best damn good actresses on daytime drama, I do know that Elizabeth Hubbard did get an Emmy for the doctors but I agree with others it is a damn shame that she never got it or playing Lucinda Walsh on as world turns. You couldn't get better acting.
Alan, thank you for doing this for us.. Also, it'd be wonderful to see Barbara Rodell (Joyce), Suzanne Davidson (Betsy), Marie Masters (Susan), Giulia Pagano (Marsha), Veleka Gray (Lila), Anne Sward (Lila), Lee Bryant (Lila), since the latter three actresses had a hand in the character of Lila.

She was great an loved that show!!
How does she do it?
I agree she is very beautiful.
She had that lovely beautiful voice
She truly was an origianl.
It is a crime against humanity that Elizabeth Hubbard never won an Emmy for playing Lucinda.
Elizabeth as Lucinda was nominated during the reign of Kim Zimmer and Erika Slzack winning repeatedly as Best Actress.
Nor did Beverlee McKinsey.
