- Tribute bumpers made by Cartoon Network for some of the workers of the original Looney Tunes shorts and the heads behind Hanna-Barbera (and the original Tom & Jerry shorts with some other shorts from the pre-1986 MGM library). There was Friz Freleng, William Hanna, Chuck Jones and Joseph Barbera respectively.
Includes rare versions such as the tribute to Friz Freleng and the tribute aired in Latin America & Brazil to William Hanna (which features CN's white letter variant), which were found by chance. The original Joseph Barbera's tribute (which was only available in Portuguese and only recreations could be found) was recently found on Boomerang commercial breaks.

The William Hanna one is just flat out depressing.
The logo just tones out for a split second to honor a cartoon legend. Imagine being a kid enjoying your typical cartoon schedule, and then you're brought back to this harsh reality for a second.
I wish they did these bumpers for Bob Clampett and Tex Avery !

Kind of a shame that Cartoon Network don't do these kinds of tributes anymore. I now wish they made something similar like this for Dwayne McDuffie after the final episode of Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, "The Ultimate Enemy, Part 2". It would go something like this:
“We open by fading in on a white background. There, we see an illustration of Dwayne McDuffie smiling slowly being drawn as we zoom out and hear voices of the characters from the shows he worked on:
*“The name's Static! I put a shock to your system!”*
- Virgil Hawkins/Static (Static Shock)
*“Scooby Dooby Doo!”*

After the drawing is finished, it turns into an actual photograph of him:

After that, Dwayne's name fades in, appearing in the same font as seen in the credits and Dwayne's memorial from both Ben 10 Alien Force and Ben 10: Ultimate Alien. Then, fading in, is the day he was born and the day he died, also in the same font, fully reading *“Dwayne Glenn McDuffie (February 20, 1962 - February 21, 2011)”.* Then after that, we fade to black and we see the words *“We'll miss you.”* in the same font as before fade in and the current 2010 Cartoon Network logo follow suit. Finally, both of them fade out, ending the tribute.”
So, what do you think? How's that for a great Cartoon Network Tribute bumper for McDuffie. I hope someone out there reading this can make a fan made version of it. It would be an honor to see; and it would make Dwayne up in Heaven more prouder then he ever was during his career.
Rest in peace, Dwayne McDuffie. You will be missed; and may your work inspire others out there in the near future.

With all due respect, Friz Freleng's bumper is personally the worst out of all of these.
To be fair, that was in the early days of CN back before they had a budget and also before CN had a sizeable audience. They didn't know they could have gotten a big turnout for his tribute.
@Gumbo Frawlies I wasn't meaning to be offensive. It's just that, compared to the other tribute bumpers, the one that Friz Freleng got was just an ordinary bumper with zany music and cartoon clips. Why would anyone think that could fit for an obituary bumper?
At least the ones for Chuck Jones and both Hanna and Barbera had more thought put into them, with Chuck's actually being based on The Dot and the Line, one of MGM's final non-Tom and Jerry theatrical cartoons.
It was 1995. 3 years into Cartoon Network so ill give them the benefit of the doubt.

And they were incorrect of his birth date being 1905 and not 1906. Guess they didn't went though his documents.
Wow, thank you! That William Hanna one where the checkerboard logo disappears, happened at the same time that Cartoon Network Latin America ran this super creepy Garfield ad where he's got these sharp teeth and he's eaten Odie. When you pair one with the other it really shook me as a 7 year old, I've been looking for proof of this ever since and I found it here. Thanks!

Cartoon Network did an emergency broadcast of the Powerpuff Girls’ Meet the Beat Alls episode in November 2001 as a tribute to George Harrison since the episode has a slew of Beatles References.

I distinctly remember CN doing a memoriam for him when he died in 2000.
(He composed a bunch of HB cartoon theme songs such as Top Cat, The Jetsons, etc.)

Bill Hannah and Joseph Barbera created Hannah-Barbera in the 1960s, in 1992. Cartoon Network purchased the Rights to the Cartoons from Hannah-Barbera Studios In 2001 When it was purchased by Warner Bros Animation. But Cartoon Network Studios had already been founded in 2001, in 2021/2022 It was announced that the defunct Hannah-Barbera Studios will be renamed Hannah Barbera Studios Europe (formerly Cartoon Network Studios Europe Development)
Joseph Barbera's Bumper was shown live on the day of his death in 2006, Cartoon Network Studios mourned the death of Joseph Barbera

My dad loved Hannah Barbara and chuck Jones as a kid my mom loved them too and chuck Jones so sad to see true cartoon vets die like this in fact my dad and uncle al used to collect cels from Hanna Barbara via auctions and my uncle joe has looney tune chuck jones cels from when he was a kid and one hanna barbera cel from when they closed the studio and demolished as apartments
