I own two suits. A gray one and a navy one. Both are made out of 100% virgin wool and I bought both of them for 250€ (more or less 300$). Both fit me perfectly after a few little alliterations and they even got great details like the functioning sleeve buttons and that all buttons are made out of horn. So it's actually possibly to get a great suit for a small amount of money!
I can't wait to get a gray suit. They always look so great.

Great intro. All your points were spot on and I like how you always address utility and how it relates to budget. All the outfits on Michael looked great (no dreaded "x" shape, fits perfectly in the shoulders, side vents which are my favorite, and even the trouser break was on point) except for the tee shirt one which made me cringe (a tee is far too informal to wear with a suit, in my opinion), but even that one still accentuated your points about the suit's versatility. Tucking in the laces was a very nice touch and went well with your point about subtle details.

My work place allow to wear black, navy or dark grey. What color do you recommend?
Ashley, how wide do you recommend the lapel should be? I have seen men wear a wide variety from very, very wide to narrow and everything in between.

Some say you shouldn't mix brown shoes (leather) with black (leather) watch like you did in your outfit... What is your opinion on this? Does it look ok to where black leather watch with brown shoes? Thanks for replying and help! :)

Good to hear that! I might recommend going something classic or even go vintage with Omega Constellations,Rolex Oysters and Patek Calatravas and many others...it's really a no brainer

Nailed it. I was helping my wife's brother pick out a suit, and he was pushing for a black one. I love black suits, but I told him to opt for a grey notch lapel suit, and you gave the exact reasons why I did.
The shoes can go from black to brown, the tie color can change, the pocket square can change -- hell the shirt can go from solid white to a plaid red (depending). Probably better places to get a suit than H&M, but regardless, the suits are nicely tailored and, if you're on a budget, pretty damn affordable.
You get more bang for your buck with a grey suit.
***** Indeed. My experience with H&M suits is similar to getting IKEA furniture...great to get if you're on a budget and don't plan on long-term use.
I already knew going in that a fully black suit would be a mistake, but when I got my first suit, I opted for a three piece in a slightly darker gray than the norm, and I think it worked out well. When it came time for my sister's wedding, I ended up wearing a cream shirt with a tie having two shades of gray and thin tan stripes, black shoes and belt, and opted for a pocket watch rather than a wrist watch.
The three piece with pocket watch probably sounds old fashion, but everyone seemed to like it, and it still looked great when the jacket came off.

I always go for 100% wool, it breathes well and durable. I wear each suit about 50 times a year and they last about 3 years or so. You can get some decent ones for about $140-180
In NY there's a place called S&B and in North Carolina I go to K&G. They are warehouse outlet if I'm not mistaken. You can get Super 120s at around &149 or less, and sometimes snag some branded like Tommy Hilfiger or Kenneth Cole for under $200. Just search you nearest big city. I've seen outlets like that in Atlanta and Charlotte.

Right now I own a blazer from j crew and a black Calvin Klein extra slim fit suit. Looking to add gray to have a good rotation for once I get into the business world.

I'm going to have a prom later this year, and i wonder if i can go with charcoal gray rather than standard gray.
Where I'm from we usually where black or navy blue suits, but i want to spend money on something that will last on me, to buy something that can be easily used for special occasions or corporate work.
However I'm not sold on gray suit, if it's gonna be a nice dark gray, I'm more willing to buy one.
What should I do?
Charcoal is best gray.

Can I really wear this for a job interview? I've heard that grey is less formal and that I should wear a darker color.
Sam Morrison charcoal grey is good, a medium grey only in summer. Light grey is not formal enough

Solid advice. Personally, I wouldn't go with skinny lapels, skinny ties or the skinny collars just because in my opinion they look silly. Other than that great video.
You mentioned that notched lapels only look good on certain people. I'm 24 and 6'1" at 166 lbs and measure in at 38L jackets and 32/34 pants. So a bit of a slimmer man. Would I look "right" with notched lapels? Thank you for you time and advice.

If any of my fellow yellow brothers watching, go with navy blue peak lapel suit. Rich blue looks great with east asian skin tone most of the time.

Agree totally with the versatility of a grey suit, especially lighter grey as shown in the vid. The main practical issue is, they show up EVERY thing. So if u find a dirty seat on the train in the morning, or if some lunch misses the table and hits the pants, there's just no hiding it. And it's guaranteed to happen first or second day after dry cleaning! Whilst I love lighter plain colour, darker tones and even patterns can be a safer choice when it comes to hiding the odd mark.
Where was the discussion on ensuring the suit is tailored to fit the mans body? Fit. Fit. Fit.

Gray has to be the most boring color ever. I've seen too many men wearing ill fitting gray suits looking like trash. If you're gonna avoid black, just get the navy suit. Gray suits have zero personality. It's for worker drones.
