Haven't watched your channel in quite a while as archery has taken a backseat to other priorities but I am glad to see you are still here making solid content.
very interesting history. I have a Pearson Cobra 2 but isn't stamped with an S. It's 66 inches at 33lbs. I think its from their Trophy Mark 1 line. Beautiful bow and great to shoot. I don't know if you remember but I contacted you on facebook a few years ago to ask for help in identifying it.
Hi Greg, Just finally catching up post holidays and got to watch this wonderful video of the Ben Pearson Cobra. Lots of great information on a bow that has a lot of background. I love mine and because of your research I think I can finally ID it from the Colt 1963 catalog as the Targetsman Express 62" that came back to Ben Pearson and was branded a Cobra with a 4 below the Emblem. It is a great bow, fast and accurate. One of my all time favorite diamonds in the rough. Happy New Year Ambassador. Thank you for all your efforts. Great video Greg! Super informative and love How are you’ve channeled your passion for archery with these videos!! :-) I Refinish one of these awesome little bows probably about 10 years ago. And also a lefty! I thought yours might be it but the one I did was 55 pounds. I’ve got a 46 pounder in my bow room waiting to be refinished and the weight reduced a bit from my arthritic shoulders. Seeing yours is motivating for me to get mine out and start scraping! :-)
Ive been watching you for years, I dont guess I ever realized you were in LA. OK so here is some fun news, I retired this past january, ( a year go) (its already been a year) OK, so back on topic. I live in far east texas now, closest big town to me is Shreveport. I have been looking for a trad gang type bow group over here, and i believe there is one in Shreveport. Anyhow, would love to go shoot with you sometime. Love the story behind this bow and the looks of it. I had a Ben Person Compound bow when I was a kid. Wish I still had it. I gave it to someone else when they were starting out in archery after I had made an upgrade. Great video my friend, thanks again for sharing and keep up the fun videos. Hope you have a blessed week my friend. Dale
Great shootin’ Greg!!! .. you still got it!!! .. instinctive or otherwise!!! .. Looking forward to shootin’ with y’all again this time in Louisiana .. all the way from Clemmons North Carolina.
Very cool backstory. I have a few older bows including a Browning Prep 40# that makes an awful racket when shot. I'm trying different brace heights, padding, and silencers. Any tips?
Nice bow Greg. I have a 52" Kodiak magnum, and I think short bows are quicker and snappy. You might want to try a stiffer arrow. 600 spine on a 57# bow is probably too weak. Have fun with your new vintage bow 🎯
Yes sir that was almost mine but now I know who out bid me 😁. Thank you for all the information, once again great video sir. That is a really nice looking bow. Take care my friend God Bless. 👍🏼🏹🇺🇸
@@HandyL for sure but I sure would like to feel the structure of such a magnificently designed piece of wood. Don’t you just find yourself in awe with the shape and the design, the time and thought that went in to each and every layer. Every time you grabbed a hold of the handle and continue to shape and modify just for that right feel and then the last stroke sandpaper against the wood you pick it up and put it in your hand and there it is finally what you have visualized in your mind at last is now done. Oh the dream of someday being a Boyer. 🤣😂😁🤣😂😁🤣😂😁👍🏼🏹🇺🇸. God Bless my good friend take care.
@@sigmanarchery54 No, but it got me thinking about how many times we must have been bidding against each other haha. There is a Browning Nomad Stalker that just popped up on eBay, currently at $15.50 + 16.60 shipping. Other than that I haven't looked at a non horse bow in months.
Yeah I have a 54 inch bow I got due to my size, it is a OEELINE Airobow One piece Recurve at 54 inches. I got a 45 pound left hand that I pull to 34--35 pounds and is Fast due to putting a Fast Flight string on the bow. I love the size of the bow being 5 foot 2 inches or 157 cm and having 1--2 inch shorter draw then most people my size due to my arm span being so short. The Bows brace height is 6.5 to 7.5 inches and I use the shorter brace height with the bow due to my size. The Bow model is sold only for USA on Amazon new if looking for the bow. Only flaws were, one person got a bow made without the limb tips that allow fast flight, and another person sounds like they tried to use the bow backwards. It is like a Bear Super Grizzly made smaller to 54 inches in every proportion. Then same company has an all black Paint color bow at 58 inches that is a Right hand only model that is a Bear Super Grizzly if made in black and used Clear fiberglass for the limbs, and no fiberglass over front edge of the handle part. Both bows are about the same price just the One I got looks better since they did not cover up the color of the wood, they stained it and used a satin finish on the bows same Satin finish is on the other bow but used a cheaper black color on the bow to cover up the plain boring wood.
Greg, I recently bought a Cobra with the # 3 under the Cobra badge. I've never seen a Ben Pearson with this kind of laminate/glue up. Could you help me identify which BP model this bow might have been? PS, I'm trying to figure out how to attach an image to this comment.
It is not a BP model. It was a bow made for Colt firearms that did not pass their quality inspection. Colt sent it back and BP rebranded it a “Cobra”. Look up the old Colt catalogs and you will see it under a different name.
@@3DArchery Yes, I watched your video.... I understand that. but I thought that BP based the ones they made under contract with Colt Firearms off their existing BP models. I guess that's where I was mistaken. Thanks Greg, I'm a big fan and love your videos!
I believe it's a 1964 Colt Heritage. I have a 1965 Colt Grand National, and they both have the decorative dark wood overlays on the belly side of the riser just inside of the fades. They are both real shooters and it's my understanding BP made them both. Thanks for your help, I always look forward to your new videos coming out!
Can you do a new video on your whole shooting style where you anchor and how you aim if you close one eye or have both open etc why you do it that way and such. Thanks in advance
Man watching you use those 600s on a 57lb bow made me nervous lol maybe grab a cheap set of heavier spined arrows for this one (CX Predator 2s in 4560 or 6075 could work)
It is slow and dull. But go to Archery Vintage and Traditional. You can find links to the different catalogs. This can give you more information to help figure it all out.
I have a Ben Pearson King Cobra that a friend of my son asked me to put a string on for him. I could send you photos but I don’t know how I would go about that.
I used to love the looks of the Browning cobra recurve many years ago. Then they made a compound that they called the cobra which was the ugliest piece if lumber ever.

Browning also made cobra recurves, 58" bows mine is a cobra 2
I have a cobra model 2, browning, this guy is aiming high that's why he's shooting high easy to see that on the video

Been trying to find out about my 1970 Bear Grizzly, 56 "AMO unlike other Grizzly which were 58 and the difference in the riser.
