- I'm much more accurate when my point is close to the spot I'm aiming at and I've found hunting set up that gives me a 25 yard point on. I go over how to reduce your point on distance and my setup in this video.
Current Hunting Setup
Wengerd Ibex 43#@30"
Gold Tip Traditional Classic XT- 675 Grains - Four 3 inch feathers or four 4 inch trad vanes.
150 grain Iron Will Wide Cut
Selway Flex Quiver
Nockturnal Lighted Nock - Спорт
I had trouble moving my anchor point higher on my face and after watching one of “The Push” videos I did just what you did. Added some weight and about a 1in fixed crawl. Works great and good explanation in this video of what and how your doing what your doing to achieve your 25yd point on!!!!
I don’t like crawling or doing any sort of string-walking with self-bows. I like shooting off of the shelf and face-crawling, as it keeps equal pressure on the top and bottom limbs. I might experience with a heavier arrow and see how things work out. Interested to see how this heavy arrow works for you when hunting.
this is such an amazing and important video mate. ive been doing this for about 3 years now and it makes such a big difference! great work!
You have great form. I do think in order for you to improve your success hunting you might want to step up in poundage. I saw how long you held at full draw and for a lot of archers it was to long. I used a 55LB bow and 600 grains of arrow when I was hunting and at tournaments. I was never as good as I wanted to be but was able to win a state championship and many tournaments.I have taken small game and large with my set up. Ironically I saw me years past when I watched you shooting your bow. Keep it up friend you have a ton of potential.
Well done video . I use arrow insert tubes which increase weight without affecting spine . You can put a temporary nock further down and reference with the bottom of your draw hand so you can set a separate nock point higher for longer distances . My very own convenient and unconventional approach to crawling that will get Ya point on or as riflemen call it , maximum point blank range .
Shots with traditional equipment should be held below 20 yards on deer. Otherwise the chance that the deer jumps the string is very high. See bowhunting October Whitetails.
And if you wrap the end of your string with acrylic wool where it slaps onto the limbs, this bow will be much quieter. You also need to check your point on from a treestand because perspective changes from 15 ft up. Your arrow launching height should be mx. 20ft otherwise your targets gets really small, especially at close shots. In addition, I would try to move my point of impact slightly back to have pure double lung shots. Saves the heart and you will get better trails.
I think the gentleman in this video has it figured out. 1000 ways to shoot and hunt with a trad bow
Nice video thank you
Thanks for the video...I also shoot a heavy arrow...sounds a bit loud though for that set up...
Good luck
One thing I found is when I change heads from a maybe 3” broad head to a small game thumper that’s only half an inch it really messes with the point on.
I’ve now switched to a x hind sight on my bow to set my point on that dose not change.
Plus it glows in the dark for low light situations.
So I can vary easily see my point on and gap shoot from there.
I know it’s kind of a no no for traditional archery 🏹 but ahhh what ever.
As I get older it gets harder to see the black broad head in the shadows and using different shaped broad heads no longer change my point on
Is there an update video on how this arrow performed? I shoot a heavy arrow with low poundage bow as well.
very interesting video thank you for posting. I am desperately trying to achieve a 25yard point on.
( As a UK NFAS instinctive archer I have to use a split finger hook .) I am however a little confused about your recommended point weight and arrow length.
Everywhere I look I find advice suggesting a lighter point and a shorter lighter total weight to increase point on distance. yet you seem to be saying the opposite ?
My current point on is around 18-20 yards which means I need a substantial hold over to hit where I need to on the target otherwise the arrow falls well short . My bow is a 40# AMF draw 29" 5/16" 30" POC wood shafts 40-45# and 125g field points.
Hope you can suggest something
I’m at the other end with a 26.5 inch draw.
Nice video! Do you have a neutral or negative tiller with the fixed crawl/three under? Greetings from Germany
I LIKE IT!!!! Great video also input..Five eights to 3(4 of an inch nock hight for me. 3 fingers under 25 yrds point on . 30 yrds i aim 4" high to hit the 10 ring and aim 4 inches low at 20 yrds to hit the 10!!
What broadheads you running for your trad set up?
Your setup sounds awesome! You liking the close point on? Iron Will Wides and Standards for this year.
@@ScottEinsmann yes really like close to point on!! I shoot 51 lb at my 29" draw. Black eagle 350 spine ,225 grain up front total. Close to a 530 grain arrow.
41@31 max 6 limbs, 21 Das riser. Full length GT trad 400’s, 125gr. 470 total. 170fps. Works for me.
Are you using end of point or something else like tape at end of arrow? How does a broadhead change your aiming point if it’s different length than field point? Thanks
Do you find that canting the bow moves the point of impact?
How many inches arrow drop ?
What is your draw lenght ?
30.5"
I have pretty much the same setup but I have trouble bareshaft tuning the arrows. I shoot a 60" striker longbow classic. 45# @28. My draw length is 29.5". Gold tip classic xt 350 spine uncut arrow with the collar, insert and 150gr point. Always shows weak spine. Any tips on tuning?
As a newbie.. just want to say two things... thanks and dang there are only 10000 different opinions and each of them thinks it is it.
Split finger, 3 under, long arrow, short arrow, weak spine, heavy spine, light point, heavy point. ---- IT IS ABSURD.
Go heavy or go home right LOL
