Stories like this remind me why my aunt made sure to teach her boys how to do laundry and wash dishes... so they didn't have to depend on someone else to take care of them. What Ray did to his wife was despicable. Plain and simple. If he'd treated her properly in the first place, and not abused her, he'd likely still be married.
My mother told me once how my nasty step (my opinion not hers) was such a poor man he could not boil a potato. He criticised my cooking like girls was born to cook. My raised my son to at least know how to cook basic foods. He is doing a baking course. He been using airfryers from age 8.
@@gacharosaroyal1933 Definitly NO! You only hear the bad stories here. There are many more marriages which function totally perfect but THESE would not make stories which get much attention here. The only regret we have, is that I could never impregnate my wife wit a girl :), but its life.
Girl, just serve them a family size tray of Stouffers mac and cheese and tell him that if he was worthy of being your husband, you would happily make him a home cooked meal. Then deduct all his points and turn in the divorce papers. Marriage requires two partners dedicated to each other and the relationship, you're carrying the entire load on your own, and you deserve better.
It always baffles me how can these inconsiderate husband characters complain about dinner not made yet, heck my dad can heat up tortillas and pot beans in the stove and be okay with it, or even eat whats leftover on the fridge no questions asked
For me, it's the men in my family who do all the cooking. Most of it best done on either a grill or smoker. The mom's and women also do a lot of cooking too, but it's mostly about who feels like it or doesn't. 😁
seriously if my husband gave me signed divorce papers. i would quietly set up my new life then on my way out turn in the divorce papers. ray is the only issue this woman has. get rid of him and she has no more issues.
Me, too. I get wanting to save up for a comfortable start, but I'm the sort who would say, "Time for a camping trip!" Sell off the engagement/wedding rings, any other jewelry, anything that was MINE and would fetch a price, and go rough it, until I earned enough money for a more cushy life. Camping is fun, right? It's certainly better than that sort of emotional pain. OP is stronger than I am, to be able to stick with it for two months. I have to hand it to her. I couldn't have stayed.
They are almost certainly not. A house wife (or husband, either works) is a part of a team. As with any team if one member starts mistreating the other the whole thing falls apart. If you're actually worried, there are a few easy to spot tells. Most pointedly, the house wife isn't "submissive," the house is her domain. She will often get things for him, but that's more for her convenience than his, you should be able to tell the difference. Everything is organized to her preferences, plus there is what my wife refers to as "man goggles" which is a man's inability to find something in plain sight, especially if it's where it belongs. There's also the money, spending money is her job, not his, if he's spending money beyond bills and maybe an allowance she gives him, there might be a bad situation. Finally the state of the house on casual visits, it should be tidy, but if it's immaculate without some hired help that's potentially a bad sign. If they have kids also it's a REALLY bad sign. Contrary to popular belief house work shouldn't be all on the house wife, this is especially true if she's also a SAHM. She'll do the lion's share, but at the very least he should be going out of his way to make it easier. These are all just general things that should be a cause for concern, or to relieve some worries, depending on which way it goes. None of it is definitive, especially not alone. Just some things to put your mind at ease or let you know if more concern is necessary. The house is immaculate? Maybe she's just a neat freak. She acts "submissive" maybe she just likes spoiling him. He manages all the money? Maybe she's just not very good at budgeting. It's always possible there's a legitimate, good, reason for any of it. However, it's enough so you might want to look into what's going on behind closed doors. If you notice any of these, first step is simply to ask her about them. If anything starts with "My husband" that should start some alarm bells, especially if it's that he "says" or "likes" etc. Equally if it's something self deprecating.
My parents had a traditional marriage. And sometimes Dad cooked. And sometimes Dad cleaned. And then my Mom instituted the rule that "Dad is NOT ALLOWED to wash dishes or do laundry EVER AGAIN." Because he sucked at it. But dang, did he work hard in the yard! And ALL the fixit jobs. And he would always thank her for her hard work around the house, and make sure that we kids thanked her for it. And it was always OUR money and OUR car and OUR house. Even we children had a say in Family Councils. The division of labor wasn't based on gender so much as based on who was good at it, or who hated it the least. Dad is the one who always cooked the pork chops, even though Mom cooked most other meals. And they'd cook together, too. We learned that keeping the house was vitally important to supporting the work effort of the person earning the income. It makes a DIFFERENCE to come home to a clean house and good food. And when I was in high school (I was the youngest), and my Mom was SICK AND TIRED of being a housewife, she got a job at my Dad's workplace, and they carpooled together, and we ate out a lot. When I was a college student, and I came home from college, and Mom wanted to work, they asked me to be "housewife," so that we could all enjoy a good home, while she kept her sanity, and added to the family budget. My work was valued, too! Then, Mom stopped working and went back to being a housewife. It was all fine, and we always, ALL OF US, valued her work just as much as Dad's. Whenever Dad was speaking to us, and talked about "Mom" or "Your Mom" or "Her Name," it was cool. IF he said, "Mother," then we knew he was deadly serious about whatever it was, and it usually meant we had goofed up and disrespected her (or, rarely, it was "What shall we do special for Mother?"). He could NOT handle anyone disrespecting Mother! Not because he owned her, but because she was his QUEEN.
Wait, wait. He's acting THIS entitled making $30k? I mean, it doesn't really matter, but that's not even providing. How the heck did they even afford a place to live?
26k is 500 a week roughly, before taxes. Shouldn't be too difficult to live. Your talking about 2K a month on average. House payments can actually be cheaper than rent of you do it right. And rent "depending on area" is usually 600 to 1200 a month. Without adding in insurance, interest, and all the other stuff, a 70K house over 30 years is about 200 a month.
@@thomasaitken7495 Well, I wish we had prices like that around here. We're relatively low cost and a studio will run $800+ and if you find a house under $100k it's probably a biohazard.
@@jakeand9020 Where you live matters unfortunately. South East Michigan had a lot in that range when I moved out of there. Both in rentals and housing. Just under 600 was the lowest rental price I saw. And houses in and around Pontiac Michigan are in that range. Not exactly a nice area. 10 years and a failed economy have driven prices up everywhere.
@@jakeand9020 Looking online at pricing in that area now, lol.... nvm. That's a dangerous town and definitely over-priced now. 15k will get you an empty lot. 89k minimal for the most run-down of houses. Guess I won't even suggest looking into Waterford next door. (That's where I used to live). It was always 4x the cost of Pontiac.
You get married to be with your special partner. NOT MISTREAT THEM AS SLAVES. This is why the divorce rate is through the roof nowadays. Geezus, some people don't deserve to get married. What a waste. And the icing on the cake, a point system on a marriage? Ugh
I was wondering if anyone else picked up on that. At least that husband learned his lesson. Ray thinks this is the 1940's again. Women must bow before men and do as they are told. They literally can't do anything without a man's permission. No one I guess has clued him into the fact that Women are free from that oppression. We don't need anyone's permission to do something.
Several years ago, someone did a study on the work that a housewife does. It all added up to a salary of about $100000.00 a year. And yet, housewives are not paid for all their work.
These wives are built different... I don't respond well to being disrespected.. especially by someone that's supposed to be my mate.. he would've been eating kibbles n bits talking to me like that.. you train a dog, there's no such thing as "wife training".. someone should've trained him on how to be a husband and a decent human being.. his parent's failed.. "permission"?.. I haven't needed anyone's "permission" since I was a teenager.. the opposite of love is not hate. It's indifference..
Girlfriends, this is why its a hell no if he asks you to give up your job & stay home, especially if there's no kids & he isn't a multimillionaire. (Multis are much higher maintenance & may involve supervising staff and multiple locations, higher level budgeting, doing a lot of PR/unpaid social networking, more self-maitenance etc). And be obsessive about your birth control until you really want kids....at least this wife wasn't baby trapped.
Sadly, emotional abuse and verbal abuse are near impossible to prove. Of course now we have cell phones but back in the day these pieces of shit could treat you however they want and you'll look the crazy if and or when you get out; especially if the husband is a well respected restaurant owner and pillar of the community! 😒
Yes. And even with proof, a lot of people refuse to admit that it can be real. "Oh, he'd never do THAT! I'm sure this is just taken out of context and a misunderstanding."
Microwaves, refrigerators/freezers - Both my parents worked and on the weekends mom would cook for the week and put some in the freezer. We grew up on "fridge food." In pre-microwave days, this meant that when we reached home, mom would take out enough for us from the fridge, warm it on the stove then dish it out. When the fridge stock was low, it was time to take stuff out of the freezer into the fridge to thaw. When microwaves became a thing, and we were older, we could each take out our own portions, and pop it into the microwave. When I began working, it shocked me to know that my mom was an anomaly. Nobody made use of the technology at hand to make their lives easier. Instead, many of the women got up early to cook and/or had to start cooking when they arrived home after work. When I explained what my mom did and why didn't they do that too the rather lukewarm response was either that they wanted the food to be fresh or they didn't like "fridge food." While there might be some taste differences, I do not think that it is substantial enough to make up for time lost. And since none of my siblings have any chronic health conditions at this time, it isn't the case that such a thing is unhealthy. It is certainly much healthier that eating out every day instead.
“Do you think that's acceptable in any way? You don't have the right to just disappear without my permission.” Technically you did bud.. you signed divorce papers 😅😂
Why do these guys act like just working full time is such a big deal? Everyone gets tired from work. You are not special! Also, leftovers are perfectly fine. No one cooks freshly made meals everyday. Who the heck does he think he is, King Charles?

The jerk wants food on the table when he comes home, but doesn't tell her when he's coming home. She needs to make dinner as soon as he leaves in the morning, set the table nicely and then go have a spa day.

Ray is giving off some serious tiny man energy. Like BIG time here.
Yes tiny jewels and tiny salary! He’s such a loser she should be thankful he’s leaving her divorce papers! Yay thanks
I don't understand these people. If my spouse ever said, "Don't break my rules ever again," I wouldn't say, "Okay, I understand." I'd be saying, "Excuse me, who the hell do you think you're talking to?"
All these woman who just roll over when their husband is talking to them like this makes me shake my head.
I would probably say okay and start collecting evidence, clearing the accounts, finding an appartement and start looking for a job that day.
“Sum-theeeng” hell no, you talk like that to me, you’re out, or you’ll be eating a damn *SKILLET*
A cast iron one I hope 😂
It's like she is supposed to be psychic or something lol.
Yeah, and if she fixes the meal early, so it will be ready and waiting for him when he comes home early, he'll complain that it's too cold, because she made it too soon. "You KNOW when I come home! Why did you start cooking two hours early?"
Never threaten because he’s in for a rude awakening
Ray is punching all the misogynist buttons here. He really is a nightmare.
I know he's punched my buttons. I was listening to this going down the road and I actually had to pull over and finish listening to it because the more he run his pie hole the faster I was getting. Dude really pissed me off. VA is doing a great job. Keep up the good work.
"DO IT YOUR DAMN SELF THEN!"
Crap like this is why I could never be married. Have NO patience for that
I don't blame you
Marriage is a trap nowadays 😭
@@gacharosaroyal1933 Definitly NO!
You only hear the bad stories here. There are many more marriages which function totally perfect but THESE would not make stories which get much attention here.
My Spouse and me are married for about 38 years, have 4 Sons (which all can cook, one even has learned to be a professional chef).
Yup. Cook yourself, buy food, eat whatever, many ways to get foods
For me, it's the men in my family who do all the cooking. Most of it best done on either a grill or smoker. The mom's and women also do a lot of cooking too, but it's mostly about who feels like it or doesn't. 😁
Your Dad is a functioning adult. 😊
seriously if my husband gave me signed divorce papers. i would quietly set up my new life then on my way out turn in the divorce papers. ray is the only issue this woman has. get rid of him and she has no more issues.
These stories crack me up. I only know a few women who are stay at home wives. Hopefully they’re not being treated like this.
My cousin’s husband tried to be like this. She told him she would be a “housewife” if he paid her like a housekeeper.
I highly doubt that Ray’s bad behavior happened overnight. She should have divorced him a long time ago! Take a hike Ray!
Dudes like Ray give men a bad name.
Wait, wait. He's acting THIS entitled making $30k? I mean, it doesn't really matter, but that's not even providing. How the heck did they even afford a place to live?
Living like Saitama-shi before he got paid for his heroic rank.
Keeping track of *TODAY SALE* and *DISCOUNT RATES*
I can’t count how many times I said “Oh, hell no!!” during this one…lol
Infinite numbers sounds fair
You get married to be with your special partner. NOT MISTREAT THEM AS SLAVES. This is why the divorce rate is through the roof nowadays. Geezus, some people don't deserve to get married. What a waste. And the icing on the cake, a point system on a marriage? Ugh
This sounds like an alternate version of the nasty husband with the housewife score
Ooo I’ll be serving him a cast iron skillet diet
Oh man. I love that my husband cooks better than me. I do all right, but his food is ah-ma-zing!
Yes she can read his mind from miles away😂
Ah. Why can't the other adults salt their own food to suit themselves? Duh!!!!
How about she deducts him from her life????? I know I would 😅
Several years ago, someone did a study on the work that a housewife does.
I kept screaming "ASSHOLE" inside my head like some kind of city-wide alarm.
Ray never wanted a wife…he wanted a puppy
Most people treat puppies better.
He treated her like a SLAVE. Like a literal SLAVE.
I know, it's a story. However, if I talked to my wife like this, my head would have a permanent dent from the iron skillet.
That sorry excuse of a human would be wearing the food and served with divorce papers
That sounds oddly specific, hon. You doing alright?
THANKYOU KINDLY for signing those divorce papers for me!😀
Good for getting out of that toxic marriage .
I would never allow this power dynamic
I swear all that is holy that if my husband ever spoke to me like that he’d be sleeping in shop, however, my husband is not a stupid man.
You don't have the right to just disappear without my permission.”
Technically you did bud.. you signed divorce papers 😅😂

Ray is why I’m fine being single
Why do these guys act like just working full time is such a big deal? Everyone gets tired from work. You are not special!
Also, leftovers are perfectly fine. No one cooks freshly made meals everyday. Who the heck does he think he is, King Charles?
I'm a man, and I'm utterly appalled at Ray's attitude. Where the hell does he get off treating women like this? I've got a pair of size 12 boots that would like to have a very long and intense discussion with his arse.
Omg that is so very funny! I agree with the sentiment however. I’ll hold your coat!!! 😂😂😂

Hell, no! Please submit the divorce papers and leave. A woman’s worth is not decided in this way, whether an at home wife/at home mom or working wife/working mom. Also, thanks to excellent voice actors, I wanted to jump through the Internet and strangle Ray, he was so annoying.
Yeah, that voice and the squeaky-girl spoiled brat voice.

I don't have it in me to gray rock like that. I'd have chosen to "go on an extended camping trip,' instead.
That takes GUTS and STRENGTH to be able to gray rock for MONTHS, just to ensure a financially stable exit. Wow. Respect!
Leave file for divorce and walk away
Talk to me like that and you will be left on your own. In the hospital.
I am 69 years old I have never seen any man talk to any woman this way or heard of it. I know for a fact there is not a single woman in my family from my mother up. I am telling you right now it's my grandmother's husband talked to her this way he be picking his teeth off the floor lol.
tbh i don't know any stay at home wives. my brother is a stay at home dad tho. he does everything he can to make things easier for his wife. she does the cooking on the weekends.
A judge has to grant your divorce. In a court.
Maybe where you live. It's not the same everywhere, though. Where I live you have to be officially separated for a year first, so no quickie divorces & this story wouldn't fly. I can still enjoy it as a morality story. Always check with a local lawyer or divorce help service; don't take general reddit as expert advice!
It’s the Apple text universe, these rules don’t apply.
Some countries, as long as both have signed, it can be done quickly. The division of assets ect is done afterward if needed.
If one of them states that they don't want it they can make the couple take therapy before allowing the divorce if that doesn't work.
This is the type of guy that even if you went to a five-star restaurant and served it and claimed it as your own hiding any boxes. He would still complain and say it is terrible it is the worst food ever made
These stories sometimes skirt around the issue of domestic violence with a vague threat like "you're gonna get what's coming to you". If they went all in and had the abuser beat the hell out of her, it might actually help explain why she stays with him.
Utube restrictions.
@@RedCeltay I'm not saying graphic violence, but have her wake up and start texting her husband from the hospital. These abusers are awful, but it never comes to a head. They only ever face consequences when they cheat, never for the actual abuse.
It’s think that’d be too dark for their target audience. Generally these are supposed to be light entertainment.
Also, that would be pretty triggering for a lot of people.
@@amyneu8078 There has been an occasional 'dark' story. If anything, it could be more triggering to make light of the abuse and push the narrative that it's easy for all women to escape it.

Devil laugh,fits him perfectly
If he was truly sorry he'd emasculate himself.... might actually prove he has changed. Or if nothing else give him some humility
Oh, because he and his mother were utterly incapable of SALTING THEIR OWN FOOD TO TASTE.
OMG. Ten minutes in, and I can't wait for her to just walk away, sell her wedding ring and engagement ring, and live in a flophouse, just to be free of him, and be much happier about it.
I may have to watch this again as I spent a lot of time watching the fabulous marine life in the background! My first reaction was Yay, whale shark! Great story tho'!
Not notifying his wife about his early arrival home sounds pretty exculpatory to me (so there!!). Besides that, he is a dhead.
I love to try new recipes. A few months after marrying, I made almond rice pilaf. It sucked. My (ex) husband and I agreed on that. Three years later, he was still bringing up the almond rice pilaf in front of people. I finally informed him if one meh dish in 3 years was all he'd had, he needed to count himself as lucky.... and if I heard about it again, he'd be cooking for himself. He complained about my talking back to him in front of people..I pointed out he choose the audience. He never mentioned it again. I also never tried anything new when he was around.
As soon as he was my ex, I went back to enjoying trying new dishes. Some come out well. Some don't. Oh well...
I'm so glad that she got away from him
I’m proud of her. I knew she had a plan when she went from asking to confirm to yes sir
I love how men have NO clue how hard housework can be let alone running a whole house. These men would only have to do the housework for 1 day and they would quit and never complain again. Plus is talking down to your other half the new norm now? I see a lot of this lately. What happened to showing each other respect. Guess not anymore.
He’s going to have a hard time getting a new wife
Oh, golly, I HOPE so! I hope she warns away other women, so they don't fall into his trap.
Also, I hope he learns just how much her housework is WORTH, when he has to pay someone to do it for him, because can't make himself a sandwich.
It sounds like the husband wants a stepford wife, he wants a trained animal.
I sorta want the ai robots to happen just to see that experiment play out.
There are all sorts of robotic dogs about but I see no loss of demand for the real thing - poop and all. lol.
😢 Girl if he showed me divorce papers, instead of begging for love, you should be turning flips that you can return to being a human instead of being a fetch it girl. 10 points are all you need. Then i will just take that.
Yep. And then, "There are the divorce papers! I'm going to be gone all day tomorrow, so you can think about your position!"
"Oooooh, I get a whole day alone to pack up my stuff and leave? How much can I get for my engagement/wedding rings? My friend has a couch I can use, right? Better than staying here, any day!"
Reflect on your actions? Yeah, in her shoes I’d reflect on why I ever married a guy who needed to abuse his wife to feel like a man. What a loser lol. 😂
Like who can be so incompotwnt they cant make their own food. What a joke.
