Thanks been following and looks interesting just deciding to back as there is a lot out there and coming. If this keeps up I may have to push back my planned retirement age. It sounds a little like it might be a bit similar to Ambush.
Grant IMO you're absolutely right in your sssessment of "Platoon" (the movie) I served a combat tour with The Big Red One. Our AO was right across the Saigon River from that of the 25th Division ( in which the producer Oliver Stone served). Hollywood will never get closer to what a tour in Vietnam was like than that movie...the terrain, they way, they operated, they way they talked etc. I give it high marks. My top 4 movies (I.e. realistic) about Vietnam are in descending order - 1 - Platoon 2 - The Killing Fields (Cambodia) 3 - Hamburger Hill 4 - Danger Close ( Australian, pretty new. Catch it on Netflix) There's pretty rapid fall off after those. I'm a bit conflicted abt Purple Haze. More anon.
I recently watched Danger Close and really enjoyed it. I would agree with your movie selections for realism, not that I have served there, but from what I have read and heard from veterans.
The map reminds me of the worst part of early adventure video games with random encounters. It just happens as you go, you have no ability to engage when and how it will happen. It just happens to you and the flow is disrupted.
Ranger, there's a very underknown and unrecognized game in the war game hobby. I never looked at it the same after my time in the service. It was extremely realistic in it's time.
@@ThePlayersAid Thank you. I think I’m going to back this. Did you play the other scenarios and what did you think then? When comes to amount, if I think how many games I play 8 plus times at this level, there’s not many
@@KSweeney36 we played one together and then I soloed another (we only had 3 scenarios) but because it's a campaign style I stopped and wanted to enjoy it with the final components etc.
I loved the way that Warfighter told a story as you played but didn't like the game overall. The narrative sounds strong, is the gameplay more interesting than Warfighter?
Warfighter was just chuck two dice and compare against the to-hit and penetration values. This is a bit more invloved, but it's also small engagements and then times of terrible quiet inbetween, rather than a rolling brawl.
Thanks for the preview. Looks great. It is the first game i backed in a long time and i went all in. Especially because it’s a solitary wargame.
Backer #180 here! Thanks for the preview - always appreciate listening to you guys on a game.
Saw this being demoed at Spiel 2021 and immediately was intrigued. Insta-back for me. Looking forward to playing this!
Awesome preview. I will be picking this one up fore sure. Been waiting for a good Vietnam board game. Cheers.
Good times, great discussion/description of this game.
Cheers and good gaming.

Many thanks for this. Been thinking of backing but looked a bit too detailed but your review ticks the boxes I'm looking for thank you
Great video! Very helpful preview.
Very good review and looks interesting for sure.
Great review, I will hopefully order !
you needed to have the song Purple Haze playing (low volume) in the background. And maybe some purple fog floating by occasionally with gun flashes.
We can't afford and Jimi ™ songs, hahah
Alexander dressed appropriately :)
Thank you Gents!

How would you rate Firebase Gloria?
@@buckaroobonzai9847 I know of that movie but never seen it. What do you think? Is worth my time to take a view? Thanks
@@buckaroobonzai9847 Is that the one with R. Lee Irmay? I thought it was good but a bit hollywooded up with the way some of those men overacted.
It reminds me of a mix btw a dungeon crawler and a rpg.

Alexander, what happened to hour tie/buttoned up shirt? Messing with you. Nice to see you relax in a sweat shirt like the rest of us :)
When can I buy this? I must have it.

I have silent victory and as good as it it is, it does feel like your on rails at times and a passive watcher. How many much decision space is there?
I had mentioned it in this video but there is a larger decision space in this one yes.

The greatest needs to be on the cover of Jimi Hendrix but probably couldn’t get Janie to agree
Seems great. But Phalanx games are quite impossible to bought in France. Not sure I'll ever played it sadly
Great game idea, but it looks somehow ugly
