Nazaré is one of our favourite places in beautiful Portugal 🌊🏖🇵🇹 We were fortunate to housesit there in both summer and in winter, for our good friends Sandy & Roy! To see the crazy difference between summer and winter in Nazaré, check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/cwOUYTfZTVg/v-deo.html
Oh, that's an excellent tip, João... thank you. I'm looking forward to returning to Nazaré next year to try some! I'm guessing it's made and sold throughout Portugal, but I really want to have it in beautiful Nazaré 😁😀 ~ Mandy
Johnny and Louise were simply confirmng what so many of us think of you and your channel. You stand head and shoulders above most travel vloggers and, without argument, at the top of the heap when it comes to showing us Portugal. We look forward to your adventure to the Middle East but please don't take too long to return to Portugal. Ter uma viagem segura!
That is such a lovely thing to say, thank you. We felt quite humble when we were talking with Johnny and Louise, and it was wonderful to hear directly from viewers that our videos were so helpful to them. Don't worry, we will definitely be back next year... and I'll be counting the days. Portugal is truly amazing and I love it here. Lee flew back to the UK yesterday, and I'm here until Thursday. Last night I was feeling a bit down and actually stopped for a minute and contemplated not leaving, just staying forever... and oh my word, that's so tempting! But, there's an exciting world to see, and we know we'll return to my favourite country ever! 🇵🇹❤ ~ Mandy 😁😀
Thank you so much, Clare. Portugal is wonderful, and I'm starting to get quite sad about leaving. Lee arrived back in the UK yesterday, and I fly out on Thursday. At least there are still at least another 4 Portugal videos to come ... I'll be watching them and pining for this beautiful country 🇵🇹❤ Thank goodness we're coming back next year otherwise I'd be inconsolable! Having said that, I am looking forward to travelling again, and to share our adventures with you all! ~ Mandy 😀😁
“Like” number 100 👍🏻 and I didn’t plan it either. 😅 Wow-what a difference a few months make!! I never saw an ashtray for use on the beach! Nice to rent a tent for a day too. Great ideas! Never saw anyone selling donuts and clapping either. 🤷 I remember those statues in Setubal too! Thanks for pointing them out. Love those farmer markets. Thanks for educating me and sharing your summertime experience in Nazaré! Cheers.
Thank you so much, lucchese20 for another wonderful comment... you're so lovely! Nazaré was just so incredibly different in summer from our experiences over winter, which is why I just had to share it with you all! 🇵🇹❤ ~ Mandy 😁😀
Another great video! If there's one word that can describe our short experience in Portugal, it's "vibe". No matter where we were, that warm, friendly, laid-back vibe shone through.
That's such an excellent word for Portugal, Stephen. This country is amazing and I can't believe I'm flying out on Thursday... part of me so wants to stay! But I know we'll have an amazing time travelling, and will be back in beautiful Portugal next year! ~ Mandy 😁😀
Hi Lee and Mandy! I am a long time viewer but first time commenter (as you may already know :)). Another great video with lots of helpful tips. Eagerly awaiting your return to Portugal next year!
Oh, thank you so much for taking the time to write, and for your lovely comment! Sometimes it can feel as though we're just making these videos for our own edification, so it's always wonderful to receive such great feedback 🙏🤗 I'll be counting the days until we're back in beautiful Portugal... am feeling sad already as I waved goodbye to Lee this morning, and just had a chat to him in Porto airport. Is it too late to decide I don't want to leave?!? 🤔😉🤣 ~ Mandy
Aren't they amazing! I took another clip on the Friday when the stand was full, so it showed me how well utilised they are, which I think is brilliant! ~ Mandy 😀😁
Love love love Nazare! Thank you so much for sharing. Defo have the Brazilian restaurant on my radar, and hope to buy some of that fresh fish to eat. So want to try those barnacles, but not sure about cooking them. Crowded or not, still my favourite place in Portugal.
Thank you, Cindy! You are the first person I think of when it comes to Nazaré, and your heartfelt recommendations to go there, back when we were still in the Algarve... and Nazaré now has such a special place in our hearts! Remenber that Via Brasil is closed on Sunday evenings and on Mondays, as is the wonderful Nazaré market! I hope you have a truly incredible time here next year, and I hope you know how much we love hearing from you! ~ Mandy 😁😀
Hello Amigos, lovely walk about. I was there in the winter… vastly different! Great idea with those ashtrays!! If you love sand, Nazaré has it by the truck loads! It’s bloody cold here right now, this was very welcome! xo
Hello Jen! It's actually cold and wet here as well, which is why I really enjoyed making this video last week, for the reminder of those glorious summer days! Nazaré is beautiful in all seasons... it is such a special place! 🇵🇹❤ ~ Mandy 😀😁
Yes it is such a beautiful place with the most amazing people. We love seeing the great traditional costumes. The market is the best place to see this. 😍👍🇵🇹
That 'street calling' thing the beach vender was doing... that used to be very common in the UK from market stall holders. In fact, there's a scene in 'Oliver' based on it - 'Who will buy my beatuiful roses'. We think the calls started just as calls, but gradually, with repetition and time, evolved melodically.
That's really interesting, thank you, Imo! I think it's the addition of the clap that makes the Bolo de Berlim call so special... it's actually in my head as I'm writing this 😊🤣 ~ Mandy 😀😁
Nazare is on my list to visit when we return next year. 10 euro per day for the tent is reasonable and it is a good size. Lee and Gaz went swimming, was the water warm? The market food and seafood prices are reasonable. I am still learning about Portuguese fish. The couple in the restaurant described this channel perfectly! I really like that you have a label of your name and Frugal Travellers. Mandy’s beautiful Mom and Gaz look like they had a great time. I hope Lee has arrived in Britain safely. I am looking forward to seeing more videos of Portugal. 🙏🏽
Thank you so much for your wonderful comment, Sue... it is always such a pleasure to hear from you! I was told that the water was freezing, but it didn't stop them going in a second time! We hope this finds you well, and that it proves helpful for your next trip to Portugal... and yes, we have more Portugal videos to come! 🇵🇹❤ ~ Mandy 😀😁
Hello Cathy, and welcome to our channel! We've made over 100 videos on Portugal, and we hope you find them helpful 🇵🇹😊 We will be answering that question in our 2nd Q&A, coming soon... but the short answer is that we didn't need health insurance coming in under the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement. We look forward to hearing from you again! ~ Mandy 😀😁
Hahhha... I think I only once picked up the wrong one 🤣 It was so funny when they came out of the Alcobaça Decathlon with them... I was like, "what the heck, you guys?! 🤣🤣🤣 ~ Mandy

As a native, and having eaten lupin seeds/"tremoços" since a child, I must say I found it really, REALLY strange to see someone eating it whole, with the skin. 🙂

Hi there. That information can be found in the video, with times and prices. ~ Mandy
Not really a beach person and definitely not a crowd person. I much preferred the spring beach with the big surf.
I know what you mean, and the wonderful thing is that Nazaré is perfect for both preferences! It is such an amazing place 🇵🇹❤ ~ Mandy
