Jimmy, your son is becoming quite the photographer. He's doing a fantastic job. I love watching y'all. Please keep doing things together. You're making memories.
Thanks so much! he is doing a great job! Very proud of him. Thanks for the compliment.
Agreed!
i third that notion... he's doing awesome!!!! his next job should be videographer AND EDITOR :D - that way you can get on to more work with #savethe310 and now #LearnToFlyMIG :D
@@therealjimmysworld I would love to see you pick up an old UH-1 or OH-58. I worked on on 58's for many years and would like to see you try to fly one. They are pretty cheap to operate compared to some of the aircraft you get.
Also- your son is storing up so many future favors by NOT telling Mom about all these things!
A family friend had a picture of these on his wall because he trained in one during WWII but the war ended before he saw action. At the time he was disappointed but later felt very fortunate and blessed.
Thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video! That's very true.
Jimmy,, on the T6, check that the wing attach bolts, fittings, etc have been checked. I believe there is an AD on that. Also, check the 1/4” bolts holding the vertical stabilizer, horizontal stabilizer on the airframe. They can corrode to nothing but still look good from the outside. Also, there issa grease fitting in the flap mechanism that can only be accessed with the flaps about halfway down. Lastly, keep grease in the kidney bearings in the prop hub.
NDT is required on the wing attachments with the AD. Great plane to fly!
Interesting how it corrodes.

It wouldn't be a Jimmy's World episode without a little smoke or flames 🤣🤣
nailed it!
Yes! That lovely radial is a money to noise ...and flames! converter.
My Dad was a pilot during WWII in the CBI theater. He took his final exam in an AT6 at I believe Cal Aero around 1943. The instructor had the stick, went inverted and said "it's your airplane" don't know how long they stayed inverted but he got his wings. Flew 65 missions in a B-25. He use to say flying through flak was like driving over a bumpy road.
That is one lucky man.

The T-6 has a float carb, the longest it will fly inverted is 13 seconds, however you lose oil pressure after 8, and the reason it is not approved for spins is it can get into a unrecoverable spin if the CG is not correct
I believe the instructions in at least one airforce were for the rear seat passenger to bail out if it won't recover. A oscillating pitching motion can start which results in entering a flat spin
HAD A FRIEND IN A SPIN,INVERTED,OPENED CANOPY TO FALL OUT AND SPIN STOPPED
I’ve worked on the G11 Albatross for Chalks Airlines, A7, A4, A6, C5B, C130, and KC135 airplanes in the 80’s with Navy, Grumman St. Augustine, Lockheed, and Boeing got laid off due to C5B contract ending and got out of working on planes but you Sir have brought back so many memories about working on planes I had forgotten about watching your videos and I thank you Sir for that. I just found you on Cleetus McFarland’s channel. Love your exuberant attitude and your son will never forget these moments with his dad you can see it in his eyes and the way he looks at you. You are his hero DON’T ever change!!
‘Intentional spins prohibited’. My old dad was a RAF pilot in WW2, and did training in the US as many did. He told me that one exercise in a Harvard was to recover from a spin, but when it came to doing that it wouldn’t come out. He said that only by adding all available rudder trim as well, did he save himself and the plane. So, it was really good for me that you read out that warning. Thanks Jimmy!
Jimmy, you never fail to entertain! Glad to see your so traveling with you. He is learning a lot even though he may not know it. What a cool way to spend time with Dad!
Love the T6. Also love the work you are doing on the 310. Clear prop!!
Thanks so much! Yes, it is an awesome machine!
Which one, Jimmy? The T6 or the 310? LOL
I got to meet Adolf Galland and Pappy Boyington, as a child, at an Airshow in South Texas. Great memory. Sat around and listened to them tell stories.
I was too young to appreciate the significance of their sacrifice but it’s a memory I’ll never forget.
It was great to live 12 miles from the home of the Ghost Squadron.
Great episode! I assume the wall "decorations" were blurred to stop this one from getting demonetised?!
Certainly 😂 the question is was it just the iron cross or was it full blown angry spider.
Guy in Toledo owned a T-6. One Saturday morning I stop a car for speeding, young lady was driving. Her driving record was awful if I’d issued a citation, she would automatically lose her license for a year. So, I gave her a seatbelt violation. An air show was going on at Metcalf Field, now known as Toledo Executive Airport. I’m checking out the T-6, talking to a guy in a wheelchair, who said he’d flown in WW2 and got shot strafing trains and supply lines, causing him to lose his leg.
While I’m talking, I hear a woman say ‘dad, this is the police officer who gave me a ticket’. And, suddenly, I thought ‘great, here we go’. It was the lady I issued the seatbelt ticket to. Guy walks up, says ‘sorry my daughter was speeding’. No problem, I hated taking someone’s livelihood or freedom.
Guy tells me he owns the T-6 and gives me a tour. Next day, Sunday, dispatch calls me at home and says I had a return call to someone about planes.
‘Tell him to call Toledo Port Authority, they have jurisdiction over Metcalf Field’.
He said you gave someone a ticket yesterday.
Ohhhhhhhhhh….me: he probably wants me to void the ticket! FIGHT A CITATION IN COURT, not on a Sunday morning!
I call him back, to tell him how his daughter could fight the traffic citation.
Instead, he says, ‘I got my certification(?) yesterday (some pilots may know what he meant) and I am about to go for a spin, would you like to go’?
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKK YYYYYYYYEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!
SO, I get to the airport, which is right next to my police station. It was a cloudless sky. 75°. 10am. He gives me the ‘if you hear me say ‘bail, bail, bail’ you jump! If you ask me to repeat that, you are going to talking to yourself, because, I’m not going to be flying this plane.
I’ve heard pilots say that all the time. He could’ve said ‘you will have to stab yourself in the eye and sacrifice a small child’.
Ok.
We were up for about 90 minutes. I skydive, I’m not afraid of planes. It was the best 90 minutes, to this day, in my life. So far. Sliding the canopy open, flying out over Put-in-bay, around Toledo, Detroit, around the lake. He tried to make me pass out by pulling Gs, nope. I was busy laughing.
That was 2008-09.
So, when I see a T-6, I always think of that day.
I am homeless, now, and I would sell a kidney to buy a long range drone that would allow me to fly in the clouds. I have MS and couldn’t get my pilot license. I’m jealous of watching you guys flying here and there. Some day.
I used to fly out of Metcalf all the time lived in BG but liked Metcalf better Put In Bay express that's what I should have been called.
Hope the MS is not getting you down tòo much take care
@@jamesmackinlay4477 I worked for Lake Township Police. Lived in Bloomdale. Wife worked for Wood County SO.
@@frostyfrost4094 MS is tough. You can go days or weeks with no symptoms, then, one day I’m having a conversation with someone about the weather and I can’t remember what the color of the sky is. Like, ‘it sure is a beautiful day, sky is green, not too black’.
I just avoid people. I can type as much as I want. I still have to look up word’s. Frustrating.
As usual, Silas's camera work is fantastic.
Agreed! He does a great job!
Great Vlog Jimmy!! Thanks for sharing!
The Mig is crazy... but that T6 is a dream! Can't wait for the videos!
Well for an old AF veteran, I live airplanes ever since I read everything about Chuck Yeager. Yep one of my hero’s. Flying in a P51 trainer? Yes I’d love that. T33 and thé A10c Thunderbolt are two of my favorite aircraft. This was a great video Jimmy!!!!😎🥸👍👍
"Mistakes were made..." LOL! I'm thinking a slight pump or carb problem but no fear, the Mississippi fire chief stands by with an oily shop rag in the event of fire.... HERE HOLD MY BEER WATCH THIS
Great Job Jimmy and Mini-me ! can't wait to watch flying that Mig home!
This is amazing jimmy! What an adventure you are in for! I cant wait for more videos so we can all fly along with you👌🏼
My fav aerioplane! We had two 2 in our company. I flew the two seater with my boss and he flew the other solo because we had a peanut oil drum in the back seat for sky writing. The exhaust pipe came out under the stabilo! I hope to see more of yours!
I have got 146 hours on a T6 and they are amazing aircraft from my point of view. I trained on them in the New Zealand Airforce in 1969 and did aerobatics, Instrument and night flying in them as an 18 year old. I went on to fly many other single and twin engined aircraft but the T6 always remained a favorite.
Those are some badass old dudes. "Hey, do we have a fire extinguisher?!"...... "Nah, all I need is a rag".
The whole fire during starts thing would make me real nervous. lol
Let's go!!! This channel has taken an unexpected turn and I love it. Keep up the good entertaining work!
I love these radial engine warbirds even more than the jets. Would love to have this, as a Mustang or Corsair is way out of my price range.
I mean, this is too, but it's more realistic to believe that one day I'll be able to swing it.
Until then I'm flying vicariously through you, Jimbo! Hope you can get the package deal. Good luck!
Buying an old warbird like one of these is the cheapest part. Operating and maintenance costs are what get you.
Build a 2/3s mustang. Way cheaper, can build how you want, and you can do your own maintenance.
The iconic deep prop buzz from the T6 is one of the best sounds. Love watching the Aeroshell team perform at air shows.
Got to see them at SnF this year, fantastic!
Funny thing, I'm in the UK but one of today's memories which came up on Facebook was a video I took of the Aeroshell team when I last attended Sun'n''Fun in 2018, four years ago. Will have to attend again next year.
"Two T6's make no more noise than one, because one T6 makes all the noise there is."
A fiery but mostly peaceful startup procedure
Thank you for the video Jimmy. Great content Sir.
Oh yeah, more fun and merriment on the way!! great camera work by your youngster, he's doing a great job! Keep up the great video;s, we all love em! Cheers from Australia
Wow! Any chance of you filming the warbird and jet training or will these be a fix 'n' flip?
Love the videos, my inspiration to get back into my PPL training, cheers from the UK!
That's the plan!
@@therealjimmysworld The only thing left to buy is the aircraft carrier.
you my friend, are hilariously entertaining...thru you we all get to fulfill our fantasies and curiosities....so thank you so much for that!!! ....keep 'em coming!!
Love the Stinson in the background while with the T6. A friend of mine used to fly one.
My father flew these in the USAF pilot training in Malden Missouri AFB in the early fifties. Incredible plane! Love the content, keep up the great work!
No guns came with that plane. There was never an AT-6 on an aircraft carrier. Some of the Navy designated SNJ’s may have, but not the AT-6. It was strictly a trainer for transition from fixed gear, minimally powered, limited aerobatic aircraft to fighters or bombers. My father was a WWII bomber pilot who trained in these. He said it was a great plane to fly.
Not the standard production variants, but there were a few outfitted with AN/M2's.
The t6 did have guns and gun cameras they were 30 cal and they were used for gunnery training I take my knowledge from helping maintain Harvard 2557 canadian registration cf-mgz
Search for "TA-624 T-6 Texan" for images of what an AT-6F looks like with the AN/M2 .30cal installed (it's a lightened M1919 with a higher rate of fire). It wasn't a big gun, but it was enough to teach students firing techniques and spotting. The NA-69 variants were fitted with a larger Wright and got four forward .30's and one dorsal for the back seat, though only a handful were made. A few others were armed with more guns, primarily for other operators.
The North American LT-6G 'Mosquito' flew with two airborne Tactical Control Squadrons in Korea where they did reconnaissance, & foward air control missions for close support of ground troops & strikes on enemy targets. The LT-6G was armed with 6 under-wing racks with triple rocket launchers & two .30 caliber machine gun pods.
Plenty of the family had guns, and there were SNJs with arrestor hooks.
That is a beautiful Stinson 108 beside the T-6!
Great video as always Jimmy! The T6 is awesome and the Mig aint to shabby either.
I loved watching your son trying to lift the battery. All credit to Silas for trying.
jimmy. i love your video content. you have a growing fan base here in the uk. keep up the good work.
WoW... Just Wow... Congrats Jimmy !!! Loved every minute !!!
Jimmy: You -- --
don't have a tail wheel endorsement.
don't have a jet rating.
don't have the money.
My advice:
DON'T GET HUNG UP ON DETAILS.
This is brilliant. Forward!👍👍
I would happily volunteer time and sweat equity turning wrenches for a chance to ride around the pattern in a T-6. Been an aviation nut since I was a kid and since I dont work in the industry anymore (work related accident lead to amputation of lower right leg) I havent been up in the air in years as I dont know any pilots anymore. Would love the opportunity to go flying again. Edit- We had a T-6 and a T-33 at the A&P school I went to back in 96-97 (NAA over in St. Pete) and we got both birds running before we graduated. My favorite memory is me and another student getting the electrical canopy on the T-33 working again after sitting outside again for so many years. If memory serves me right, my class was the last class to learn dope and fabric. I still have my airfoil project that we had to build from scratch.
That would be an honor.
Jimmy, let’s make this happen!!
I wonder what the relative asking prices/values would be for the two warbirds.
The T6 is probably valued higher than the MiG, but by how much?
Can’t find one but I did find a nice harrier listed at a cool $7.95M
Another awesome adventure with Jimmy 😁 👍
Another great video Jimmy. Silas - great job on the video and lifting that battery.
Since it was an Air Force trainer with the large canopy panels it may be a "G" model as in AT-6G. If so, you are fortunate as most of those went through a major rework and update during the early 1950s. At that time several bases in Florida had them. Fortunately the Air Force birds had a steerable tail wheel. You will learn all about flying an airplane with a tail wheel and be amazed how important the rudder is as you transition to the T-6. Make sure you have a good set of headphones. Start it up (with an instructor in the back seat) and go bore some holes in the sky. It only burns 26 gph.... That intake fire on startup is not normal. What is normal is to have someone standing by with a fire extinguisher any time you are starting up just in case that happens.
The navy used them also.
@@timanderson5543 Yes that is correct. Almost identical but SNJ (Navy) did have some differences. Then the different SNJ sub models like -4, -5, etc.
Well congrats on the jet you can fly it every airplane flys alike its like riding a bike just alot harder to put playing cards in the spokes
But i would warn you its not a good week to stop drinkin ;)
Love the channel all the cool off the wall aircraft we see keep it up
The t6 is cool, but I really do love that J3
Oh Jimmy, You, and your Son are having Way too Much Fun!!! Oh,,,Thank You Both, and All, for the Ride Along!!!
Great video as always! My girlfriend and I ran into you at sun n fun but didn’t get a chance to introduce ourselves. We actually flew. T6 there from Georgia we both have lots of T6 time and she is an instructor let us know if we can help in anyway.
Like one youtuber said: HELL YEAH, BROTHER!
Keep up the good work!!
Cheers from Brazil.
I flew a beautiful T-6 out in California years ago. Fun plane to fly, fully acrobatic, but did NOT like being held inverted for long. Can't wait to see what you do with these.
As much as I would like to see the 310 fly I am STOKED to see the MiG 15 fly. It will be epic! GOD BLESS you and your family.
Yoooo Jimmy ! Love your videos man, keep up the amazing content! Hope to meet you one day, I’m in SC so not to far. Your video quality and editing has become amazing!
Appreciate it!! Look forward to meeting you as well!
Jimmy when he saw the footage: "THE PLANE WAS ON FIRE AND YOU DIDN'T TELL US?!"
The guy in red: "Safety schmafety."
Jimmy: "Well I did think it was a bit weird that you walked right up to a spinning propeller."
The guy in red: "Safety schmafety."
Had to comment because I am from Mississippi and I knew Vernon Ricks well. I flew with him to Pensacola in the T-6 for an air show in November 1986. It was the Blue Angels Homecoming Airshow and I got to visit with Bob Hoover and sit in on the Christensen Eagles preflight briefing.
Wonderful family that I have lost contact with. Great video, thanks!
Decal suggestion: Can I get a CLEAR PROP!..I would buy many.
Hi Jimmy, I wouldn't worry too much about not having a tail wheel or jet endorsement on your licence; if you get these two warbirds back in the air, I think you will find a whole new set of friends that you never knew you had who would be very happy to fly the things for you. Maybe you could trade flying time in them for private lessons so you can get those endorsements...
Just don't fly them over my house. Especially the clapped-out MiG.
I've never sat in a plane flown in a plane or even been within a few feet of a plane but your videos sure keep me interested in them
Freaking awesome Dude recently started watching your channel!! Absolutely love your excitement! I would be that way too. Looking forward to seeing how this develops in the future!!
Hello from Greece. I love what you are doing. Keep up! Save 310!
Awesome! Thank you! #SaveThe310 !!
The T6 alone is worth the hassle 😂 (jk, of course. You need both of those!!)
for real!
Wow such an exciting time ahead cannot wait. More please. 🤩
Flew one of the NZ Air Forces Harvards a few times many years ago - the stall was relatively gentle and the spin recovered nicely.
You keep vibrating and are slightly deaf for 10 minutes after landing.
The prop tips go supersonic and give a very distinctive sound to the old bird.
100% would flip the mig after fixing. It has the gift that keeps on giving in repair and maintenance costs. Then I would 10000% fly that T6 all day.
Jimmy may have the resources to keep her in the air.
Honestly I don't think they are too terribly valuable because of the operation costs. Lots of rich people end up donating them to museums because the tax write-off is worth more than the sale price
Only way to own a mig is if you are in the airshow business, give instruction, or are rich. All of it requires a lot of time and effort
@@ethanhiggins4887 pretty much. There's a guy with a Mig-23 that does well, but isn't a millionaire. He only flies it a few times a year because of fuel costs. Every flight is him getting training so he can be certified. So he has an instructor guy with him every flight.
@@ChevTecGroup Lol he certainly is a millionaire. He does make a wish and instruction.

You have relit my passion for aviation! Can I get a clear prop! Thanks Jimmy!
Oh my, I love the new planes you are getting, warbirds! AT texan, what a simple beautiful machine!
1st thing when I saw it, Hey that's a Texan

Hey Jimmy. You live close enough to Kermit Weeks at Fantasy of Flight, go talk to him. He moves planes around all the time. Maybe he can give you some pointers..
In the long list of crazy decisions, this is another one. Good luck brother
wow..... I can't believe you actually did it! AWESOME!!!!!!!!
Jimmy, you are the most awesome human I've ever heard about. Love watching everything you and your son get to do. Good luck with the new warbirds!
Can I get a "Clear prop!"?
Love the video’s Jimmy, but…. Adolf Galland was not Germany’s greatest fighter pilot. That honor belongs to Erich Hartmann, in point of fact General Hartmann was the greatest fighter pilot of all time. Keep the video’s coming Jimmy
Thanks for the info
Hartmann is one of only two men in what has been described as 'the most exclusive club in the world' - "The 300 Club".
There are only two men with 300+ confirmed kills in air combat - Hartmann with 352, and Gerhard Barkhorn with 301.
Galland was the General der Jagdflieger (commander of fighters) from November 1941 until his relief in January, 1945. He then commanded the first jet fighter squadron, Jagdverband 44. Galland finished the war with 104 confirmed kills.
@@therealjimmysworld Check out this book: "The Blond Knight of Germany: A biography of Erich Hartmann".
@@rickwiggins283 Bubi
Heard that too and sighed. Galland was probably better than most any allied pilot, but he still only was credited with 1/3 of the kills of the GOAT.
The At 6B was the first built for armament training and used I believe the ANM2 .30 cal fixed in the right wing and right nose cowl mounting. A flexible mount ANM2 .30 cal (30 US Gov't. /.30-06)was mounted rear of the cockpit with the gunner facing aft. I have a Coffman cartridge starter that was used on many of these P&W radials.
This channel just keeps getting more and more interesting!
Love how he casually puts that little fire out whilst the engine is still running
i guess it means that all cylinders aren't running
nothing to see here! hahahaha
All you can do with an engine fire is keep cranking it. If you don’t, the whole engine can go up in flames! Radials are known for fires like that. That’s why normally a guy will stand by with a big CO2 fire extinguisher.
Actually not rare for an exaust fire with rotary engines if u flood the cylinders this can happen with cessnas too. But more common with rotary
@@Newberntrains Although there is fire coming out or the exhaust while running, the fire under the engine is from the intake. One keeps it turning over to try and literally stuck the flames into the engine, through the induction system. It is a radial engine not a rotary. Even understanding what's going on, I confess to being a bit nervous when it happens, often happens from over priming. Looks to me like it was running only on the prime and wasn't getting the pressure from the engine pump.
Awesome channel, Awsome content, Awsome Silas, Awsome Big Balled Decisions. All in All Pretty Awsome! God Bless You And Your Family..
Thanks for another great video on chasing airplanes. It was more than interesting and so very enjoyable to watch.
I am not going to tell you what to do because you are a good person when talking buying and selling aircraft. Just do a ton of research on the T6 and MiG as you start to watch with these. Also research what needs to be done with your license.
Maintenance and operation costs will be something to watch closely. The MiG is a gas hog while the T6 is reasonably not too bad.
Looking forward to the continuing videos on these two beautiful old aircraft. I know you will keep us posted.
Silas is doing great with the camera and filming. Congratulations to him for a great job!!!!!!
Well, Jimmy you are a brave soul for purchasing these aircraft. I know you will make it work.

Oh wow!! A T-6! Jimmy, you sir are a mad man! Now I want to come out to Florida to check it out!
I flew a T6 Texan a few decades ago hand built it myself from a kit it was one of the best if not the best planes I have ever flown sadly one day while flying it had an unexpected stabilizer failure and flew the smack straight into the ground.
Luckily no one was hurt except my pride unfortunately the plane and all its equipment was a total loss not much left in a pile of balsa wood.
Flew my Edge 540 straight into the ground after the elevator rod snapped while doing full speed "hammerheads."
Everyone at the airshow could feel the "thud."
Liar
It hurt you

Greetings from Shanghai. Enjoy your show so much. Good job Silas!
You sir are a mad man. I applaud your ambition, and can't wait to see how things go on these old girls!
Jimmy on the MIG: You do know it is a total fuel HOG! You can go broke just trying to feed that thing. And also the T6 is not really easy on the 100LL either. Want something easy to maintain, easy on gas, super fun to fly, and CAN DO rolls, loops AND SPINS, ? Check into getting a Chinese trainer called a Nanchang CJ6, BUT get one with the Russian M14 engine in it. Same engine as the Yak 52, 360 to over 420 HP VS the Chinese engine with only 285 HP.
Can't believe I watched a video to see you look at something as crazy as a Mig and turns out it's been sitting a couple of hours away from me this whole time. 🤷🏻♂️
very cool!
I’ve recently stumbled across your channel and I’m happy I did! your videos scratches that itch when I feel I wanna learn how to fly. Too bad you can’t be my instructor that would be awesome lol but maybe 1 day til
