Transcription: Which one do you like better? Ten pin bowling or duck pin bowling? It's time to find out. Bowling is America's favorite game. As American as mom and apple pie, bowling brings people together. But unlike people, not all bowling is created equal. I think we all know about 10 pin bowling because we've all played it. We just call it bowling. But have you heard of duckpin bowling? It's kinda the same, but with some key differences that really appeal to some players. The most noticeable difference is the equipment used to play the game. In duckpin bowling, the balls are small. In 10pin bowling, you use the big balls. These big guys weigh in at between 6 and 16 pounds with a diameter of about 8 and a half inches. That's pretty big. Finger holes in the balls also provide players with a firm grip, which is perfect for executing powerful throws or precise spins. But duckpin bowling balls are much smaller, measuring about 5 inches in diameter and they only weigh about 3.5 pounds. That's light. And duckpin balls have no finger holes. So players must cradle the ball oh so sweetly and then rely on precision over power. While both games involve rolling your ball down the lane to knock down pins, the rules and scoring are different. In 10 pin bowling, players get 2 rolls per frame to knock down all 10 pins because that's all you need. In duckpin bowling, you get 3 rolls per frame. And trust me, you're gonna need them because even with the extra chance, clearing the lane in duckpin is no easy feat. In 10 pin bowling, a strike earns you 10 points plus the total of your next 2 roles while a spare only adds the score of your next one role as your bonus. A perfect game is the ultimate goal for every red blooded bowler. Twelve strikes in a row is all you need to score 300 perfect points. Wow. She's good. Duck pin bowling scoring is quite similar but adjusts a little bit because of the game's unique challenges. Strikes and spares follow the same 10 pin rules. But if it takes you all 3 roles to clear all the pins, you only get the 10 points and no bonus points from your next roll. Those little balls are easy to roll but the difficulty of achieving a perfect game in duckpin is absolutely legendary. The highest recorded score in duckpin is just 279 points. Bowling techniques vary quite a bit between the 10 pin and duckpin bowler. With 10 pin bowling, that heavier ball allows for impressive hooks and angled throws. Thanks to those beautiful finger holes to hold on to the ball. But without those finger holes, duckpin players have to use a cradle grip to guide the ball. You kinda hold it like a tiny round baby. And achieving a strike in duck pins is way more difficult because your baby ball is so tiny. Hit the pins, baby. Both styles of bowling are great for gatherings, and each has its unique advantages. Ten pin bowling is the game everyone already knows. Bowling is America's go to staple for fun birthday parties, league nights, and family outings, especially for those families that get along. But duckpin bowling's lighter balls are awesome. They're so easy to roll, and this is especially appealing to lots of folks. Both 10 pin and duckpin bowling are deeply rooted in bowling's rich history. Bowling's origin stretch back centuries, gradually evolving into the globally recognized sport we know and love today. So if you enjoy the power and strategy of traditional bowling, 10 pin offers the classic experience. But if you're looking for a unique challenge that tests your precision, duct pin might be your new favorite. Duct pin lanes are also a practical choice for smaller home installations as they generally require much less space than 10 pin lanes. Both 10 pin lanes and duck pin lanes can be customized to fit in your home for the ultimate home entertainment space for family and friends. So which one is your favorite?
