Sean Peyton was talking trash about the Vikings saying he “tricked” the Vikings into trading up 🙄
The Vikings forever live rent free in his head 😂
Unironically I think Sean Payton has some nights where he wakes up in a cold sweat dreaming about the Vikings. Like it’s kind of pathetic at this point 😂. It’s embarrassing for him that he thought he had to go out of his way to say that.
@@UNCtarheels71😂that’s what happens when you sell your soul for a sb lol
He did not say that, watch the whole video instead of the clip the media is passing around to make you think he did.
If he is lying WHY DID THE VIKINGS MOVE UP TO 10 THEY WASTED DRAFT PICKS MOVING UP to 10
It all started in 1980 playoffs… saints were favored big at home in the wild card game…45-17 I think… wade wilson hit Anthony Carter on a Hail Mary before the half…don’t remember the actual score…🔥🔥👍
What about the UDFA haul we got!
Just want to say Mel also predicted the Vikes would trade 3 first round picks for JJ McCarthy... Which was driving me insane.. But now they traded their future?
Makes no scents get the top players not back of draft
Crap shoot
I mean what Mel said
Traded the future away cuz no one wanted JJ McCarthy but you guys.... Coulda got him in the 2nd... Also Dallas is a soft undersized "uhhh uhhh uhhh" dummy bullrusher who is scared to tackle. Busts
And you guys let Terrion Arnold slide to the Lions when you guys needed corners... RIP
@@StillKeepOnLosing Why are you so lonely you need to come here for attention?
Why? Only a complete moron thinks Denver and Oakland were passing on QB's Hell Denver took Bo Nix that's how desperate they were.
Declan is spot on! Quality over quantity every time! More picks can also mean more chances of missing on a player. Having fewer picks is fine, provided they’re hitting more often on their early, more talented player picks.
I think militaries like Russia lost to Germany because they had way more soldiers but the German soldiers were better trained. Yeh, you need a small cadre of superior players.
It’s a slingshot, FA $$ next year is 80% of our 2025 draft 🤯🤯. Then 2026, the books will be balanced, QB and OLB will be ready to go, and we’ll have all our picks heading into our Superbowl window!!! This is WAAAY better than Kirko seasons! THANK YOU KWESI!
Plus we can trade down the first for some day 2 picks
We also are projected to recieve two 3rd rd comp picks. So: 1, 3, 3, 5, 5. That’s fine.
@@intrepidfool Projected to get one 3rd, but could get two, also a 7th from the Steelers, and maybe something from Atlanta for the tampering, and trading away a couple of excess players like Mullens. And if Darnold plays well with this roster - maybe some decent draft picks for him if they tag and trade him.
McCarthy is a 21 year old QB with all the tools to be a great franchise QB for 15 years. Turner is a 21 year old Edge rusher with potential to be the best in the league. They aren't mortgaging the future. They ARE THE FUTURE!
You might be the most optimistic fan on the internet. lol
@@brandondillman5841 Thanks, but I just call them like I see them. I've been telling everybody for the last 6 weeks that we didn't have to give away our first round picks to get McCarthy. We gave the Jets a 4th round pick and swapped our 5th round pick for their 6th round pick. Dallas Turner has been the consensus best defender in the draft. These two are young, and ++ athletes that have a great chance to become STARS!!!!
1) Only your sad vikings wanted JJ. 2) Turner is soft 3) KOC is terrible 4) Kwesi loves to get robbed in the draft 5) You're vikings are sad

Write this down: the NFC north will win more games than any other conference in the NFL this year.
Getting pressure on the QB helps your CBs, less time they need to cover.
People need to stop looking at trade charts so much and remember that these are players. Look at the J.J.McCarthy trade. We paid forth and fifth round picks to move up one spot. The expectation from forth and fifth round picks is backup/special teams. Two backups for a franchise quarterback? I'll do that any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
But could we have just given the 4th or 5th and not get a 6th back. Do trade without pick flip in back and maybe just maybe, get a Diggs, Birk, Mettelus, Osborn, and the list goes on. And yes it maybe a collasal bust too.
@@jeffpike-pq7ux Rick would have drafts where he took 12 players and only one panned out. So uninterested in what some fifth rounder could be
Calling him their franchise QB is premature. They're certainly hoping he can be a good QB. Considering the hit/miss rate for QB's in the draft it's a long shot.
@@brandondillman5841a long shot kinda similar to 5th and 6th round picks contributing to more than special teams?
@@brandondillman5841 Hit rate on 1st round QBs is 30-50% depending what parameters you use. Anything race starting with a 30-50% chance is the favourite, not a longshot.
When did trading mid round picks for elite prospects equal "going all in"? Going all in and mortgaging your future is when you are trading your present and future draft picks for veteran players who can help you right now. Drafting two 21 year olds at premium positions is not "all in" and it's not "mortgaging the future". They ARE the future. This move opens up a 5 year window where we potentially have two of the most important positions on the roster locked into team friendly deals that facilitates going all in at some point further down the line.
More to the point, we have our first round pick next season. This means that whoever we draft next year with that pick (or any additional picks we acquire from trading down with it), Dallas Turner and JJ McCarthy represent the haul we got for not trading up for Drake Maye. That would have been betting the farm and mortgaging the future. We are very far from that territory.
The Vikings signed a UDFA who was PFF’s Number One CB in the SEC. He also had the 2nd highest grade of ALL UDFAs this year.
Remember Ivan Pace Jr? Dwight McGlothern will prove to be better than Evans, Booth, handsy Blackmon and Jackson who fell to 4th round because he’s a big hitter but there were red flags for so many missed tackles.
Our corners aren't as bad as people think. Consistent pass rush makes corners look better...and now we're stacked! Turner is a monster
I can see Khyree and Dwight starting outside in 2025, with Murphy & Blackmon as slot CBs, with Booth and Evans as depth. That would be a versatile and deep group of young players.
Kwesi won me with this draft. Kwesi's first two drafts were horrible but it's clear to me, he's learned from his mistakes and shortcomings. IMO this draft demonstrates he is ready for the big leagues. Time will tell how good he is, just the same how good the Vikings will be. We'll see.
I still think Kwesi has to show he was worth bringing in. Replacing Spielman, for the short haul, gives him room to make an effort. But his story has not been written. If he is not at war with the HC, that's a gain. But is he better than any of the GMs who never were able to win a Super Bowl. Take a deep breath and show some patience. If Kwesi simply is the next non-Super Bowl winning GM of which Vikings have had so many, we'll know pretty soon.
Twins have won TWO world championships, something now Minnesota team can boast. Is Kwesi Andy McPhail? Unlikely. But who knows?
Let's just wait and see how those first two drafts pan out. It's still early days. I think injuries are more luck - than "mistakes". And remember an average draft class only results in 1 or 2 starters, and Kwesi already has that - Ingram/Chandler, Addison/Blackmon.
For example Spielman had about 10 picks in 2021 and Darrisaw, Bynum, and maybe Pat Jones, Nwangwu are the only ones left - two starters and a couple of guys that might not make the 2024 roster.
@@robe2504 Everything from now to the cut to 53 is froth. I'll watch the first Purple Daily after the 53 squad is chosen.
@@user-tc6cj7sh9t True, but the practice squad is also significant. A lot might depend on who they think they can sneak on to the PS, and who they don't want to risk.
The roster looks a lot deeper at this stage though.
Kwesi COOKED. 2 cornerstones, a typical Flores corner in Khyree, the best college kicker ever and some great linemen on both sides with personality, character and solid stats with chances to contribute in depth.
A first, a comp third, two fifths, maybe another comp pick in there isn't bad when there's a huge amount in cap space.
From the mock draft season where everyone was chucking away both 2024 1sts and 2025's 1st, Kwesi's done fantastic. Imagine we hit on a couple of those UDFAs too. Magic
It’s completely illogical to say that the Vikings have mortgaged their future without taking our Salary Cap situation into account. A teams future is much more nuanced than that.
This is far from all-in. We still have next year's first rounder, some likely mid-round comp picks for Cousins and Hunter, and top 3 cap space next offseason. At this point I'd say we're strongly likely to re-sign Jefferson and Darrisaw to solidify a great nucleus, and we just may have snagged an elite edge and QB of the future. My take is we're setting up for a sustained run beginning in 2025. I'll give Kwesi and Co. their flowers for what they've done so far in 2024.
Suggestion: add the “my man” from the draft call between koc and JJ McCarthy to the purple daily intro.
Don’t forget that consensus says this draft and next draft will be weaker in mid and late round talent due to NIL and Covid. Another reason we traded those picks with no worries by front office…
Steeler fan since 1970, but with the drafting of JJ, the Vikings are my second team going forward. In JJ's upcoming 15-plus- year Viking career I foresee a minimum of two Lombardis coming to Twin Cities. He has more physical tools than the two greatest QBs in history (TB & Joe M.), and his intangibles are unsurpassed. One cannot define the "it factor," but this young man has it the the max. Glad for you, Vikings Nation. Much enjoy the show, lads. Thank you. Skol!
Completely agree with Judd that the play is for 2025 and 26. This coming season is a set up for that
1. We are a ton closer than people think.
2. Day 3 picks mean nothing.
3. We have a day one and day 2 pick each of the next two years.
4. We have about $50mil in available cap space next year after extensions.
The draft was excellent. We’re in an incredible position.
We don’t have a day 2 pick next year

I agree with judd so they only have 3 picks in 2025. With a ton of cap space in 2025. They can address the defense again. I like the trades the kewsi made in the 1st round.
Good example they gave us a C grade for Jefferson and basically said he was good because he benefited from being on a loaded LSU team and wouldn’t be as good in the pros!!!!!! 😂 that’s how smart the experts are!!!!
Could you go thru the udfa players and if any will help us I think we are a solid team but we need a few more star players and depth
I could see us trading for sauce Gardner when the jets inevitably go into the shitter
Awesome thing with undrafted player contracts is they aren’t usually in the top 53 contracts on the team so don’t actually apply to the cap
A+ draft getting legit replacements for Cousins and Hunter and saving around $65M in cap that will be used to improve the overall team. Kwesi is using Houston's blueprint for a quick turnaround. Kwesi had a bad draft in his first year but he has learned to get input from O'Connell and Flores who likely would have vetoed the Cine & Booth fiasco. McCarthy IMO will end up being the best QB in this draft in years 2-6 and Turner will win Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Drafts can be graded in two distinct ways. For the day after the draft, you grade based on how a team selected picks, whether they reached for someone who should have been drafted later (or in Atlanta's case, spend the #8 pick on someone who won't contribute for at least three years), or landed someone who slide further than they should. The more important grade comes in 2-3 years, when the players selected either pan out or patter out.
Fill all holes in FA next yr.. BPA with draft pick in the 1st. Loved the draft
considering that most 'experts' thought the Vikes wouldn't have a 1st next year, I think its just great work to have walked out without the 3/4rd and also make both 1st round picks this year.
Judd if Kiper doesn't have time he shouldn't be judging the draft!
We actually picked McCarthy in last year's "way too early draft"
If JJ and Dallas hit ,then this draft will be an A. If any of the others pan out that's an extra IMO.
This was the draft to use late round picks to trade up. Everybody said the bottom of this draft dropped off quite a bit. I LOVE this draft!
Oh honey. We kept both 6th and 7th rounders this year. We traded next years late round picks. Were you watching the draft?
@@HendersonHinchfinchwe’re getting comp picks and can trade down in the first round and get more picks dumass don’t say shit if u don’t know what ur talking about
Mackey reading off the 5,6,7th round busts had me spitting water out. Great point
Exactly, during Covid I spent a lot of time going over old drafts. It is amazing how much draft hype there is for players that barely play a snap.
Something like 30% of QBs taken after round 2 never throw a live pass in the NFL, and another 30% never throw a TD. Mannion, a 3rd rounder, was on the never thrown a TD until about 2022. Mond, another 3rd rounder still is. Kyle Trask a 2nd.
Early Write That Down- Dwight McGlothern will not only make the roster but be a starting cornerback for the Vikes by mid-season. 2nd highest ranked UDFA this year. PFF loves him. He makes up for the whiffs on Evans and Booth. 2nd team all SEC at LSU and Arkansas.
I can see Dwight and Khyree being the starters in 2025, but I don't think we should write off Booth or Evans (or Cine) yet. At worst they can be very versatile depth. They're all very talented athletes who have had major injury disruptions, and are all very young with plenty of time.
Remember this regime generally avoids rushing young players in before they are ready. So many fans panic when things don't happen straight away. Thielen took about 3 years, Metellus played very few defensive snaps until he started last year in his 4th season.
I agree with you guys that we did not mortgage the future. Honestly, the point of the draft is to get good players. If we want 700 7th round picks, we should just hire Spielman back on
Let’s Fn Go!!!!!!!!!! 53 year old fan and I feel like 5 years old on X MASS Morning!

Remember it took the Detroit lions almost 30 years of High draft picks (because they were so crappy so bad)for them to look half decent… repeating the lions were so terrible. They got all those high draft picks… And what did they do with them for 30 years… Nothing until recently
It's disappointing that we didn't trade 3 firsts....I guess?
I wonder how many GM jobs he's turned down....
I would have gladly done that for Jayden or Maye because they're far superior prospects to JJ. But getting JJ without giving up any 1sts is pretty good. Can't be mad about it.

We have so much cap space next year. The draft is hardly going to matter in the spots we need fill
With Minnesota being a nflpa survey top 2 best spots in the nfl helps 🟣🟡 we will attract many fa!!!
You have to be careful though spending money on free agents is a way to head back into cap problems, better with a mix of young cheaper draft picks as backups and to develop them.
is there any big FA that'll be available next year?
@@ClownBaby37 There are always cap casualties that wouldn't be available otherwise.
You'll have to account for JJ and Darrisaw extensions, but they'll have a decent amount of cap. Top half of the league.
Mel doesn’t take in fact that the Vikes have over 100 mil in cap space next offseason.
Exactly. Picks next year don’t really matter. Next year is going to be the start of “load up and make a run”.
Yep. A lot of that will go to JJ, Darrisaw, and others. But Vikes will still have a lot of room to sign free agents next year.
@@ewplayer3 exactly this year is basically a free pass as one the guys said, probably will sign another CB, WR & OL/DL since we’re loaded at Edge & DB
Phil, you also have to go through the ton of late round 😮picks that have actually hit and developed into very good pros. There is a slew of them. And even more that went to other teams and had a career.
@@Zoyx yeah. I don't think people realize just how much money those 2 are going to get. lol. JJ probably $40 mil/year and Darrisaw around $30 mil/year. They're gonna eat up a good chunk of cap space.
I love everyone who thought you wouldn’t have a show without Kurt Cousins on the Vikings
Kirkstans cope in mysterious ways.
I think Kwesi pulled the wool over everybody's eyes--including me. We all were thinking about Kwesi trading up to get Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels. Kwesi's plan all along was to keep both picks, not trading up. Technically he did trade up: #11 to #10 and #23 to #17, but Kwesi kept the #1's this year for the Vikings. Well played Kwesi.
The best friend of a defensive back is a great pass rush. The Vikings projected improvement in their pass rush will help make for some of the perceived weaknesses in their secondary.
The Texans did the samething and gave way more in draft value last year I believe than the Vikings. Media just hate the Vikings for some reason. Lol He also graded the FUTURE draft picks vs the now.
I'll take Dallas Turner instead of those lost draft picks.
I still think the Jags got Kwesi to give up a little more than he had to for the Turner pick, but the more I think about it, the more okay with it I am. I still wish we would have taken Terrion Arnold. Our CB room scares me. I like the 6’4 corner we drafted though.
Khyree is decent, not perfect but that wingspan. The FA McGlothern is also 6'2" and is a legit ball hawk - so the Vikes could easily end up with two long outside CBs, and a lot of young depth. Evans probably got forced in too early and the concussions have affected him, and Booth has had multiple interruptions through injury. Don't give up on them. Blackmon, Murphy and Griffin set a very solid floor for this group, which is young, diverse and versatile.
I keep thinking about how Flores can game plan for matchups with this group.
If you Draft the best players The top rated players. Plus sign proven free agents.
This year and next year, lots of cap Kwesi is building a great roster, He took

Not even gonna listen to the pod, its rediculas to even suggest they paid to much for what they got. Im 56, its probably the best draft Ive ever with the vikes. @@Razorbacks1 yes. Bo Richter is my Ivan Pace Jr in this draft class (see his film). I think McGlothern could be a sneaky surprise as well. He’s player 54-55 on my list. He’ll need to beat out Griffin or either of the Jacksons I think to make the team.
This grade makes more sense if we traded away our first rounder next year. We are getting a rookie QB without making a trey lance type of payment.
Judd, love your point about hypothetical draft pick positioning in a 2025 mock. Excellent thought. Stir things up, get those clicks and discussions on other pods and shows.
One Mel Kiper is enough! He's created Melspeak, I can do without it. That being said, he is a legend. Created something no one else was doing.
from what i've heard there was a big drop off within the defensive end group after the top few all of which would be gone before our 4th rnd pick. and you could pick up a good corner later in the draft. i see no problem going defensive end in the first rnd
Keep in mind...Mel Kiper was the guy that told everyone that Patrick Mahomes would be a bust. I just don't understand how this guy is granted such reverence and is considered a 'draft expert' when he's only relevant once a year. He's the Puxstawonney Phil of draft prognosticators.
He's a fraud Gordon. An absolute fraud
Probably because literally NOBODY is an expert... I love all the trashing on people doing there jobs on draft coverage that are guaranteed to be wrong on most of their picks. We get it, they got some people wrong that they were high on, and some they got right . There's literally no way to tell on 99 percent of the prospects.

Awesome show guys! I Love this Segment tearing down Kiper... I agree 💯 with your guys takes
Since 2002, when the NFC North was formed, the Vikings are the only team in the division that does NOT have a postseason with more than one playoff win.
Total playoff wins since 2002 for NFC North teams
Lions.....2
Bears.....3
Vikings.....4
Packers...............13
There were 282 playoff games since 2002 or 282 possible wins.
282 wins ÷ 32 teams equals an average of 8.8 playoff wins per team if all the teams would have won playoff evenly.
The NFC North as a whole won 22 playoff games in 22 seasons.
The league average would be 35.35 playoff wins for a 4 division team.
The NFC North has truly fallen short in playoff wins as a division.
We are 2 years into a 3 year competitive rebuild and Mel has us going “all in”. Does he even know anything about the Vikings.
I love our picks, I love my team. Differing opinions are absolutely fine, and I love looking at the grades.
the vikings DID sell next years draft to have a successful draft this year. whether or not that’s mortgaging the future, whether or not we’ll be good that’s a fact.
Day-after draft grades are the stupidest thing is sports. I don't know why people fixate on them so much.
Agents will be telling players if you don’t get drafted sign with Minnesota
Declan is 100% right about how you play defense in the 2024 NFL you don’t shut down a teams passing game with CBs you do it with a relentless pass rush and by having a passing game of your own to counter it
Vikings are better at finding UDFAS,than they are at drafting in the day 3 rounds. It looks like they have a few who can make the 53 again,3 made it last year.
I like how everyone is so on the Kwesi bandwagon of moving up to get THE guy and yet in the same breath say don't worry about next year's draft picks cuz we can trade back and get all those picks back.
Something else to mention is the Vikings may get a draft pick from Atlanta for tampering
Yes. Last year the Cards and Eagles made a pick swap to settle the tampering. Imagine if Kwesi is playing 3-D chess, expecting a pick swap penalty this year. Now he has no 2nd, 3rd or 4th to swap - so Atlanta will have to settle for a 5th or 2026 picks. Has Kwesi gamed the system perfectly??
The Penix pick makes more sense if Atlanta has a feeling that they'll lose their 2025 1st. If their penalty is a pick swap with the Vikes - the best the Falcons can probably do is their 2025 1st for a Vikes 2026 2nd.
How smart would Kwesi look then??
Mel was wrong on needing a CB if you look at our division we have to get after the QB. Love and Williams are mobile gun slingers and Goff is protected with a top 5 O line.
Hey Mel, how'd that Mahomes prediction you made work out for you. Lol
And why aren’t the Rams guilt as charged not having #1 picks going to the SB and winning one
Also the 49ers have 3 first rounders vaporize yet have been to SB
FA makes the draft less important as well
Can we get a Sam Darnold episode with the positive speculations of what our offense could look like with Sam at the helm this year?? With the caveat that he plays the whole season. Then maybe some reckless speculation about what the Vikings efforts into Sam could net the team if he has a breakout season.
Hey, after KOC signed Darnold, I watched all of Sam's games with the Panthers and 49ers. My prior opinion was wtf, but after watching those games, I really don't see a drop off from Kirk. In fact he's younger, has just as good an arm, and is very good moving in the pocket, and a great runner - not elite like Lamar or Kyler, but at least as good as Hurts.
When you think about how much worse the Panther's O Line was, and that he only had DJ Moore, and sometimes Chark, I think he could do pretty well in the Vikes offence, at least as well as Kirk.
Next year running back Ashton Jeanty he is very good 🎉🎉🎉
If JJ's progression ends up with him starting midseason, Darnold will be worth a 3rd day pick at the trade deadline, and compensatory 3rd round pick for free agent losses.
The available cap space in 2025 is the equivalent of your 2025 draft.
Absolutely agree. And in Free agency, your likely hood of players contributing is much higher. Free agency cap space > draft
To be honest I rather keep darnold on the roster the whole year injuries happen and id rather have him over the other two guys
The comp pick if he signs with another team for a Mayfield/Smith type deal would be a 2026 pick. It doesn’t help with 2025. Vikings are projected to get two 2025 3rd round comps, bringing us to 5. Plus, might get something from Falcons for the tampering. Vikings will be fine.
Keep Darnold for the season. If JJ gets hurt it'll be right back to Nick Mullens and the debacle last season
Darnold will be worth even more if he starts all season and wins the division, and does something in the playoffs. Tag and trade, or even extend. Who knows? Darnold has never played behind a serviceable O Line, with quality play calling and elite targets.
Call it what it is boys! This is the Competitive Rebuild that we all wondered about. I think that this sequential improvement is exactly what Kwesi envisioned. I’m excited to see where this goes.
Judd praises the Vikings for being aggressive in the first round and then knocks them for not having the picks in the later rounds that they used to be aggressive to move up in the first round. lol
To be fair, he’s been cautious about giving up too much for the last few months. He’s not really sure what he wants his draft strategy to be.
That's why he's a talking head, and not a general manager of an NFL franchise.
Lol calm down Jesus you guys are so quick to snap and call people out for the dumbest shit.
Northern fire is great, been long time customer, glad they're on board..
What did Mel give Atlanta
Right? Look at GB’s first pick 😂😂 what’s their grade as well.
The other thing about the cornerback conversation is if the pass rush gets better wouldn't the corner play get better as well?
Also, drafting Benjamin Morrison would absolutely lock up the DB room. Kid shut down Marvin Harrison JR, zay flowers, and many other his freshman year. Kid is an absolute stud
Well said Dex
Just get JJ locked up to an nice extension, and lets roll. Only positive people are allowed on the band wagon from here on out. The negativity left the state when Captain Check Down took his talents to Atlanta. Let's give credit to where credit is due. Kwesi had a great draft, and I'd expect both he and KOC will get extensions soon as well.
I'm sure someone has posted already but if not, the pff mock is slotted in order of super bowl betting odds.
Need a way to early 53 man roster prediction
F them picks
Judd kind of made Mel’s point when he referred to the vikings as a complex puzzle. you can’t put together the team with all first round guys and market value free agents. need those mid round picks and need to hit on them
But Kwesi made plenty of mid round picks in his first two drafts. Time to add some top tier talent.
@@robe2504 he made plenty of picks but he hit on one or two. best way for him to keep his job is hitting on those more frequently
Mel who
We get extra picks , from Atlanta and probably two compensation picks
Kiper mad because if teams trade away their picks then he doesn’t get to talk 😂😂😂
5-12
Building a roster is so fluid and dynamic over the course of an off-season (belore regular season)...As to how any talking sports head can predict outcomes in the future is ludicrist at best. That is why I loath mocks and predictions in this regard.
Mackey...you say you can't fix everything in one off season. I give you...the Chicago Bears. In one offseason, they got really good, really fast.
We said that when they drafted Fields.
"Morgate"??
Watch ND's Benjamin Morrison. Great speed and ball hawking instincts!
I disagree they made the future with future QB and pass rusher , next year they will have the cap to fill the gaps
The magnificent trio begins the show saying it is silly to grade the draft class this soon after the draft and then proceeds to grade the Vikings draft class. SILLY BOYS.
Mel loved the Ponder pick, he can zip it.
Can we grade the draft graders?
A good pass rush makes all your CBs bettet
