This looks so good. Some years ago, I worked with a woman who grew up in Africa. She would bring her lunch from home occasionally and the most memorable dish looked a lot like this one. She called it Pavalla with blue crabs and she simmered the sauce with small dried red peppers so, it had some spice to it but it wasn’t hot and she added fresh spinach leaves as well. She would bring a plate for me anytime she made this dish. I’ve seen Pavalla sauce recipes on UA-cam but they didn’t look the same. I am unfamiliar with palmnut. What does it taste like? She would also add in some steamed dumplings and said they were made with white corn meal. Are you familiar with these? Watching your video has brought back delicious memories and I would love to know how to make them. I hope you can help.

Your soup recipe sounds and looks so delicious. I am going to make this as soon as I can. QUESTION: I noticed that the backs of the large brown crabs were still on and the crab innards did not appear to be removed. It is my family tradition (from Louisiana) to pull the backs of the crabs open and throw away the innards like the lungs and guts. We save the crab backs for making crab stuffing and boiling for crab broth etc., and use the crab eggs for making a special soup. For this West African soup recipe should the crabs be cooked whole without removing the backs and innards? Thank you so much for this beautiful soup recipe. 😋
