Oh how I wish I could join you to forage on the beach. Funny, we have lots of native freshwater muscles in Minnesota, but all are listed as protected. I am able to hunt though. My favorite is for ruffed grouse. There is something wonderful about harvesting fresh food, and eating right away. Christmas was hard. I let my hunting dog out Christmas morning and she never came back. Lots of wolves here, I think them may have got her. So enjoy your posts, they always bring a smile to my face.

I’m gonna have to stop watching your videos soon, they make me crave fresh seafood and that’s a rare thing in Oklahoma 🤪 Gotta get back home to the U.K. and introduce my husband and kids to the real stuff.

Funny story, I was walking the shore on Tybee island in Georgia, picking up shells when I picked up one and discovered it had legs hanging out, turned out I had been picking up hermit crabs! So I put them all back!

I love where I live, but I wouldn't mind being somewhere where I could find my own dinner. I mean I can go fishing on mountain rivers and lakes, but not ocean food.

@Jordan I grew up on a mountain in Colorado, I've hunted deer elk bear snakes and fished every pool of water I could find. Mountain foraging is more about vegetation than animal unless you're digging up worms and grubs. Doesn't matter your geology, it's about what you are willing.
Love the "we found somewhere to cook today" it's only a ww2 german coastal defense. Could you show a bit more of that?

I see you are using a tube of garlic, that's the ones I was telling you to throw in the freezer, they don't go hard so they keep for a long time, just squeeze the frozen garlic or chilli/herbs into your pan it thraws out in seconds and put the garlic back in the freezer for next time, I love your foraging videos and the Santa hats too.

I’m from Palau island and this reminds me so much back home. What these guys are experiencing is literally my backyard child hood.
Back in the late seventies and early eighties we caught loads of Rockling from the East Yorkshire Coast (Hornsea) they were a bloody nuicance! however I had No Idea you could eat em. 😅👍

For crab bodies I pull off all the legs and knuckles take off the head, put a knife between both knuckle meats (were the guts usually are) and then slide the leg meat shells in half like slicing an onion in half and you will be able to pick the meat out very easy, just slides right out!
