    I need to change to AHCI to install Ubuntu. Thank you so much. It worked for me.

    Worked on dell latitude 7300 with windows 11 pro
    I did this with an nvme ssd I already “cloned” (backup from an image on external drive it’s so easier). My last ssd had raid mode configured for some reason even though there’s only one m2 sata port. Thank you for this video

    2023, Still works! I use this method to make my NVME Direct Storage compatible. I'd like to add (for those who apply) to reinstall Intel Rapid Storage Driver and set "keep AHCI mode" to have the SATA driver correctly (whitout Code 10 in device manager).

    In the beginning of the video you talked about ram, wich is incorrect term when storage is right

    Awesome. Thank you. I had been trying to switch to AHCI from RAID on order to install Linux side by side with my Wondows 11, but it always fails to boot even after trying different methods. But this works on the first attempt.

    Worked perfectly on dell g15 .. my laptop comes with only 1 ssd slot and stupidly enough Dell likes to use Raid on by default

    I think you are saying RAM when you should say SSD. These are Solid State Drives (SSD).

    I already cloned my 128GB SSD to a new Samsung 980 using Macrium Reflect, does it make sense to change it from RAID over to AHCI now? Were there any performance gains? I also have a XPS 13 9350

    Can this be done after I after installation on a ssd or does strictly have to before you clone the drive?

    you are called storage RAM. They are not RAM they are ROM or hard drive/internal storage.

    Am planning to buy a 9350 in 2021..is it gamble on my money..I've heard various complaints about battery drainage and stuff

    • @ShrinkMD1
      @ShrinkMD1  3 роки тому

      9350 would be nice but don’t get a 4K. It drains the battery quickly. It lasts maybe 3-4 hours on a full charge for basic internet use. Absolutely terrible.

    You can do the same without using CMD, by going to MSCONFIG > boot > safe mode > minimal

    will it boot faster if I use an nvme?

  • @DerekWilson-u9p
    @DerekWilson-u9p 27 днів тому

    you can safe boot by using just the mouse. windows + r in run box type msconfig then ok. click on boot tab. click on safe boot / apply / ok / restart / then hit your bios key. change settings as per video. restart back into safe boot. enter windows + r/msconfig/ boot/ UNCHECK safe boot. apply /ok/restart.

    You actually mean 128 and 256 gigabytes of rom not megabytes of ram

    • @somedude7633
      @somedude7633 2 роки тому +1

      Actually means SSD, not RAM

    • @DeathTouch

      You are correcting the video creator with information that is incorrect. ROM (Read Only Memory) is just that, READ ONLY, it can't be written to. The data is permanently written to this memory and is not lost when power is removed from the chip. RAM (Random Access Memory) is what a computer uses to store and compute information that is volatile i.e. applications running, OS processes, etc. That information is lost as soon as power is removed from the RAM memory. SSDs use NAND Flash memory, which can be used for reading and writing while not being volatile. Perfect for storing data for later retrieval.

    • @89ludeawakening1
      @89ludeawakening1 Рік тому

      No, it's actually RAM, an SSD is literally non-volatile NVRAM, it's just uncommon to hear someone say RAM when referring to an SSD. He was incorrect by saying megabytes and not gigabytes though.

  • @1bigguy837

    ROM...... not RAM.
    ROM os your hard drive. Read only memory
    RAM is your RAM modules Ramdom access memory.
