This very old man remembers when the Caribbean was all like Barbuda, before the charter boats and development. Broke my heart as I watched it change. Sail on- sail on and feel the joy of it all as I did.
You have an amazing family UA-cam channel. It is a joy to watch Vera grow up so quickly in front of the camera. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us.
Vera an her Lil sunglasses an shark backpack an camera was beyond adorable... She's become such a big girl just in the last few months... This was another beautiful episode. Your camera work is amazing.. an just the telling of the story of your sailing family... I really do look forward to each week an each upload!! Thanks for sharing your lives with us!!! Fare winds an following sea's ✌🏼💗😊❣️
This beach is absolutely stunning in it’s beauty. Vera is so blessed to have you both as her parents and she is getting such a wonderful education on the sea. Thanks for sharing another beautiful video ⛵️⛵️⛵️💕
Great to see you guys made it south…funny…this video seems to be the first I’ve watched of yours that is in color….beautiful family even without a tan!…momma is looking great!…dad smiles more often!…baby is big, and she is gorgeous… I hope you stick around the warmer waters even though you’re far from home… Oh…love the yacht!..she is really a fine one…hope she enjoys the climate!…cheers!
Till the next Hurricane or the. sea level rise... The golf course is the most damaging and offensive item... Vera was being quite the little movie star 🌟 🌼🧚😂 wonderful to see her boldly clambering in and out the dingy like a little commando on a lets play and explore mission.. Dora the explorer stories might work well for her.😉
Vera is growing up so fast! How awesome it is for you two to have such a well documented life to remember these years of her early travels… Cheers from Anacortes!
Always relaxing, laid back, and intelligent videos with a bit of cool music. Amazing they have 4.2K likes only a couple of days after posting the video. I can hardly believe how much Vera has grown since I first knew Mom was pregnant.
You need Beach wheels for your dinghy. We have 30cm rubber wheels which means it's easy to walk the dinghy 100metres if the tide changes. Ours are from Beachmaster in NZ.
When you arrived Cascais, near where I live, I missed you because I had to fly to Holland that day (sent you a picture of Ran II seen from Adraga beach that morning). Now, I am at Martinique for some time and missed again your passage south (when I got here you were already south). Maybe some day I will be lucky enough to meet you personally. Love your channel.
Johan, Malin, A moment of bliss with the cherished firstborn asleep is priceless for any parents. They never stay so young. 😊 It was sad seeing Barbuda nearly leveled by Hurricane Irma. The rebuilding issues explained reflect what Cape Cod's natives (including islands Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket) have faced for many decades: The "retaining the local charm" vs. "bringing the tourism" economic dilemma Barbuda faces. The solution often sees the "big corporation" interests environmentally zoned to very specific locations already long developed, plus also limiting how and what they develop {e.g., adapt to preserve the ambience that attracts people, add vital infrastructure, limit traffic flow, respect local cultural norms in architecture}. Usually, that prevents large scale resorts, prohibits 'big box' warehouse stores, and prefers "Mom & Pop" business models. Environmental sensitivity to fresh water supply is a key tourism accommodation driver, too. No big corporations can just come in to bulldoze and build. Blessings, S/V Windwalker
I don't care what anyone else says. Vera is still the cutest UA-cam baby ever! She is such a sweetheart. I had to laugh at her attitude when she was getting ready for movie night with her sunglasses on. Glad you are back in the tropics.
She is really growing up, I particularly noticed it in this video. What a great experience for all three of you. Don’t blink or you will be awake and she will be asleep as a teenager…
Wonderful interesting photography beyond the incredible beaches and clear blue waters.. together you and Nature have us a real treat... as usual. How fine is the sand there? It looks like powder .
Ahoy !! RAN clan !! very nice weather you have and mouths full of grilled lobster, 🦞😛and great to see no need for immediate ship maintenance. Wishing you all the best and safe trip to your next destination🌤⛱ Thank you so much.
Imagine if you will. Take a two-year COVID break from this wonderful channel, come back and wonder why I left at all, only to discover a kid, with teeth and all. Cheers and Congratulations !!
Great to see all is going well. Sadly I have crossed over to the long distance Trawlers (a 50 footer) But did keep my 21 foot adventure sailboat. ION, The little one is getting big. It wasn’t that long ago in San Francisco when you announced her. How time flys.
Beautiful images of paradise on earth☺Enjoy it because here in Europe they released the demon that so much death and destruction is bringing...Vera is growing up fast and happy as it she should be with all the children.I hope that one day she will look at these videos and understand the privilege and luck that was her childhood. And that on that day she recognizes the fabulous parents you were to her, congratulations for the excellent work you are doing, as parents and as youtubers.
I was born in the turbulent latter years of WW2, waaay up in Scotland where my mother wisely took the family after London's Blitz became intolerable. The family tried many ways to make a go of life in England after Dad returned from 6 full years of war (from the BEF "phoney war" in France) to Burma in 1946, but by 1951 had decided to get away from Europe entirely and strike out Down Under, arriving in mid 1952. By that time I was almost 8 years old and resisted the thought of becoming an _Aussie._ But after I returned from my 6 weeks self-drive European Honeymoon at age 26, I realised that I was one of the fortunate few who lived in the Paradise of "isolated" Scarborough Beach, Perth, Western Australia 🇦🇺 - where I learned to surf and sunbake. Now in my late 70's, I fully comprehend the wise decision my parents took to start afresh in the brave new world of the Southern Hemisphere to give their (now) extended family a fantastic start in life. I think Vera will have a similar realisation when she reminisces about her early years travelling the globe by sea and sail, far from the carnage again enveloping the minds of Europeans, many of whom actually experienced those dark days.
This brings back memories…Our first trip to the Caribbean was the usual Moorings BVI charter. While waiting by the pool for our boat, a couple from the Chesapeake came in, totally shitmixxed by a squall. Torn jib, trashed main, carnage…they said they hadn’t been able to sail at all because it was “too windy”. So we asked, while buying them a drink, “how windy?” Turns out it was pretty much a normal summer day on SF Bay, but with 88F air AND water. It was glorious. It was everything that we want global warming to bring to the bay…because I shit you not, 30kts and 50F water gets to be rather tiresome after a few decades.
Once sailing back to the Bay after a 10,000 mile two year trip we were asked how stormy it was out in the middle of the Pacific er al. The answer was always the highest wind and uncomfortable waves were off the Potato Patch just off San Francisco.
Not sure how Captain Vera is not considered part of the crew. Another great episode and another destination added to my bucket list. Stay safe out there.
Lovely combination of the locations, sailing, life onboard, family time, and more! I think Vera has been reading the teenagers guide to an evening out.
How does anyone think building a golf course on Barbuda is a good idea? Is it a crazy-golf course? Anyway, love your channel and you must visit Ireland if you haven't already done so
Oh my goodness look at that beautiful water, makes me want to dive in through the screen. That is such a shame as to what happened to the island. It's awesome that you have a great community. Ooh my mouth is watering at that lovely Lobster, it's quite expensive in the UK a 0.6 - 0.7 kg split, cooked and cleaned is £40 to £45 per person. Good sail. Great vlog, thanks.
Of course its easy to understand why these islands asked for ‘indépendance’ from the UK back in the 60s and 70s .. to a large extent it was so that a few privileged people could get their hands on power and money .. which explains why nothing has been done to rebuild Barbuda .. as you know well these places are so different to the French islands which are properly run, with little or no corruption and generally for the benefit of the whole population and not just a corrupt few

It is very risky to build anything in Barbuda ..... it is in "hurricane alley" .... and it's elevation is just a few feet.
