After a day on the beach in Mustique, playing with some local kids we drop the mooring and sail 20 nm to the island Mayreau. The sailing is awesome, fast and sporty and we do an unofficial race with a catamaran. We have a goodbye dinner in Salt Whistle Bay with our buddy boat since months, Star. The anchorage is so pretty and we hang out on the beach. Then we move to the next one where we visit a nice resort and use their pool. Lovely days all in all!

what a beautiful place. That resort is absolutely gorgeous, I can't believe nobody was there. So generous of them to let people use their facility, I'd be hanging out there for a while for sure. Vera is such a cute little girl and sure has her own personality for sure. Thanks for sharing as always!

That final place you visited is where I could live permanently, how beautiful, the resort so tranquil, yes a shame you missed the Swedish couple managers. I can’t believe more boats aren’t there too. A road less travelled is sometimes much more enjoyable!

Johan, I noticed that the helm wheel was constantly turning back and forth when under the control of the autopilot. Your autopilot is being over-cycled and you are using that much more electricity, If you check your autopilot manual there should be a way of reducing the sensitivity of corrections to once every 3 seconds or 5 or whatever its parameters allow. If you experiment with it on passage under different points of sail and sea states, you will see that you can maintain your course over time without having to maintain a constant heading.
I've been following a boat for sale in Curacao for a long time. Its a 68' Formosa ketch with a dark blue or black hull. It's tied up stern-to in an unknown marina there sandwiched between two larger power boats. If you pass by it and notice it, put in the background of some of your videos. "Lady Hawk" out of Park City, UT, is too nice of a boat to sit there and deteriorate.

Outsailing a catamaran in a monohull is FUN!
This episode reminded me of "Windwalker's" voyage log on Lake Winnipesaukee, NH, USA (vicinity: 43.6154 N x 71.3503 E, wind NNW at 10-12 kts, 15 kt gusts) about five years ago. We had a Hobie catamaran trying to catch us, too, me nursing the main sheet on a broad reach. Definitely making hull speed (7.7 kts for Windwalker) and sometimes planing over our bow wave, it's so much fun being able to out-sail a Hobie cat in an old monohull! The water in Lake Winnipesaukee is clear enough to see the bottom -- even at depths of 10m/30ft or more in places.

When there are two sailboats side by side it is always a race 😊
Please note seamounts along the course, as they can cause quite dramatic effects. Another hazard area is Kick'em Jenny. Be aware that lots of gas bubbles in water will lessen boats buoyancy, i.e., sink. Please steer clear of underwater volcanoes. Pumice can be very tough on sea strainers, water impellers, and waterline paint! Great that you're back in the Caribbean!
Now that you've had some time on RAN II, how do you like the in-mast furling main as opposed to a car and track system?

Vera is getting so big already helping mom cut the vegetables.
Some great sailing there today and quite obvious from the drone shots you have some beautiful sheltered bays but some rough water not far from shore.

Johan, do you plan on coming North to the US this year? They are predicting an active hurricane season this year....so we probably won't have any this year!

It's not important that others know you're competing, it's only important that you win ;)
If it is a typical Lagoon it is overloaded with stuff... are they comfortable, yes. Do they sail nice a flat, yes. The cost... oh the cost. Not just the boat itself but the beating the rigging takes is unreal compared to a mono.
The problem with a catamaram is that they don't heel when there's too much pressure on the sails, so they have to reef according to the maximum of the anticipated gusts, not even the current justs. Great to see the friendship you have with Star.

Johan cleaned the hull knowing he would be racing, those Lagoon 450's have bulk head issues maybe 30% of them.
So many Catamarans there, hardly see any Monohulls. I guess Cats are popular down there.

That Lagoon 45 was probably slow due to cracked bulkheads.
