- Just in time for the holidays! The RRW seat cover install video has been highly requested by the audience and it's finally here! Installing these seat covers takes time an patience, but it is well worth the effort. At the time of posting this video I checked the RRW site linked below and noticed the seat covers are sold out, so that should tell you these are in high demand. Their website has a nice "notify when in stock option", which I recommend so you can get an order in before they sell out again.
As always, reach out to me via Instagram, Email, or in the comments section with any questions!

You made it looks so easy ha ha. The patients you have.
Thanks! It was very tedious, but the reward of new leather was worth the hassle!
Wish these were still available. I have been looking around for a good set of leather replacement for my 470
Me too. I was bummed after making this video telling everyone about these wonderful seat covers to find out the are no longer available.
I got beautiful real leather exact covers from LSeats

Love the vids, thanks for making them. Subscribed!
No problem! I'm glad you took the time to watch and subscribe...there will be many more videos coming up in the next few months!
really appreciate the video... i have a black set of these sitting in the box, and my '06 GX sorely needs them installed! this convinced me to see how much the local upholstery shop will charge :)
Hey Greg, glad this video helped convince you to get these installed! They make a huge improvement to the feel of the vehicle. Let me know if you get a good deal on the install. I’m curious what shops would charge. Thanks!
Wanna sells those ? 😁
RRW is not making these anymore.
Great Job
Oh wow! I just noticed these aren't on their site anymore...weird. Have you personally heard from them stating that they are no longer making them? I'm curious if they just took them down until they're back in stock.
@@Awesomoto no ideal. This other company, Lseat.com, has options for the GX 470 and High Grain Leather is an option. Multiple Colors and Appearance options
really nice! Look like a PITA to do but end results sure beats sliding on a cheap seat cover.
Yes this was a total PITA lol. Once I started I felt like I had to keep going, but I probably would have hired someone if I knew how tedious it was going to be lol.
OOOhhhh... Don't say PITA. You get to remove the seat and work in the upright position. My alternator is failing.
Yep, after watching this I'm definitely hiring someone to do this hahaha. Do you have a blooper video? Lol, I'm sure there was a lot of swearing that was edited out.
Great video. Totally digging the music and lighting you used in the video. And that intro video was awesome!
LOL!! It’s funny you ask about bloopers, because as I create videos I do store off funny clips and swearing into a separate folder. This one created a good chunk of swearing clips! 🤣
Thanks for watching and reaching out!
Also if you want to see a good blooper...check out the beginning of vlog 16. I smashed my face with a socket wrench in that video and left it in there for your entertainment.
@@Awesomoto you’ll have to come out with a blooper compilation one day hahaha
@@Awesomoto goddamn that looked painful!!
@@3LineFilms Yeah my face was black and blue the next day.
Wish they were still selling those covers 🥲
Me too! 😢
They would have sold so many of them judging by the amount of views and people I see commenting on this video about it.
@@Awesomoto you should contact them since you got a lot more of followers. Let them know that the people NEED those covers 😅
So happy mine came with these installed my seat warmers don't work tho dunno why bought it like this
Oh that’s awesome it came with these! My guess is that they didn’t wire them into the seats at all or they just never connected them.
Thank you for sharing this video is amazing!
No problem Alexander, thanks for watching!! 🙏🏻
Looks great!! Next old car that i rebuild i might tackle the upholstery myself! The woman that i hired for front and back seats charged me over 1000$!!
Thanks for all the vids. I have followed you speaker replacement and head unit installs and all went great. One question on the RRW seats. I really only need to replace the driver seat. How does the tan color match up with the oem tan color seats?
Your welcome! I’m glad you are enjoying the videos! Unfortunately they don’t make these seat covers anymore 😔
The tan on these is slightly darker than oem and would likely stand out if only replacing the lower section.
Wow
Well done 👍!!!
(This job is not easy)
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Very nice. have you thought of upgrading the wood trim on the interior?
Thanks Kevin! Yes, Vlog 29 documents that process. It’s both affordable and easy to do. Definitely recommend it if you’re not a fan of the wood grain look. Also, Vlog 37 documents my steering wheel upgrade as well. Hope these help!
If you really want to transform your car, get a bucked of hot water, put some fabric softener in it, pull your seatbelt out all the way and soak it. Scrub it against itself until it’s not dark anymore. Dump out the now brown water and rinse it. Let the belt air dry outside of the vehicle, and now yoir seatbelt is clean and retracts properly.
Dude! Thank you for this tip! My seatbelts are both stained and also don't retract well. I'm going to try this out over the weekend. Thanks for reaching out!
Hmm, interesting. I had heard steaming them but not this method.
I don't see these on their website any longer. Any other good choices?
Hey Shawn, unfortunately they stopped making these seat covers. I'm not sure what happened there, but I was bummed because I still love my seat covers.

Where did you get the seat covers for the seat and back? Cannot locate them, also the arm rest? Thx
Unfortunately RRW doesn’t make these anymore. It’s sad. 😔
Most, here in NC, charge about $600 for the front...
Wow! I'm glad I spent the time to do this myself, because it'd probably be about $1000 for all the seats. Thanks for letting me know this price info...I was wondering what people would charge.
Great video! Probably will hire someone to do it professionally!!
Thanks!
I’ve seen others have streamed then hot blow dry the seats to tighten the leather. Wondering if you had included that in your process.
Luckily I didn’t have to do that for a tight fit. It’s all about how well you can hog clip the leather tight to get nice seems and fit.
Looks good. I think I would have tried reconditioning before a full replacement. And for all that trouble I would have switched to another color. Good vid tho man. Keep it up 👍
It certainly was tedious. It’s funny you mention a color change. I honestly prefer the black interior on these vehicles and I thought about going with the black leather. Then I realized it might look strange against the tan door panels and dash. Thank you for the feedback and watching the video! 🙏🏻
How the hell did you remove the headrest retainer sleeve/tube?
Hey Jacob, sorry for the delayed response. If you havent already figured it out, there are some tabs holding the tube in place and you just need to use a flat head screwdriver to compress them enough to pull out the sleeve/tube.
Is that black trim below the windows?? How did you do that??
Hey Dylan! No that’s the factory chrome trim. I did however post a new video this week with an install of black window trim.
@@Awesomoto no sorry I wrote that wrong. I mean the part above the door handle that is typically dark brown/tan above the beige. The part that is typically the same color as the dash. It looks black. I was wondering if you used that SEM paint on it.
@@dylantodd9574 I actually vinyl wrapped it and documented in one of my vlogs. It’s a super cheap and easy solution for changing the color.
Was there any consideration for installing new padding? I'd think if you get all this apart, it would be great to update the cushions themselves as well.
Good question! In hindsight, yes it would have been great to upgrade the padding. I’d recommend that if anyone goes this route. Unfortunately, common sense went out the window after the amount of time I took on these lol. 😂
Do they have a heated feature?
I swapped the heat elements into these from the OEM seats, so yes still have heated seats.🔥
Do these seat covers come in different colors? The link in your description didn’t work for me :/
Unfortunately, RRW stopped selling these and took them off their website. I’m not sure why, but mine have held up great since October installation. At the time, you could order them in gray, black, and the tan color.
@@Awesomoto ahh gotcha, thanks for replying at least
RRW doesn't do seat covers any more.
Yeah, unfortunately these are no longer available 😢
Hello there, I am very interred in the seat covers but RRW don't have seat cover in their web page, can you help me out find one, I have a 2005 GX470 with grey interior
Unfortunately RRW stopped making these last summer 😢 I’ll let you know if I can find any other good alternatives.
@@Awesomoto thanks
Where can I order them ? Thank you
Hey Peter! Sorry for the delay in responding. Unfortunately, RRW doesnt make these seat covers anymore.
I got beautiful real leather exact covers from LSeats
Does rrw not make these anymore????
Yes, unfortunately they no longer offer this product. I can’t figure out why. ☹️
What are clips called the ones you bought at Amazon? I did no see them posted on your video.
Thanks!
Thank you for reminding me. I’m adding it to the video description. Here is the link.

How much did they cost?
I lucked out and picked up a pair during preorder back in April for $425. They are now $700 on their site.
And sold out at the moment 😭
Awesomoto thanks I couldn’t find the price online or their website. $425 is a killer deal.
I have grey leather in my gx and was thinking about doing this or katskinz(if you know what those are). For $700 I’m leaning towards the RRW.
I have katskinz in my 3rd gen 4Runner and they are extremely nice, so I know your feeling of having new leather seats haha
@@bobberben I did look at the katskinz as well, but I saw that RRW deal. Even at the $700 price, it’s still a great deal and completely refreshes the interior. RRW did a great job of replicating the OEM leather fitment. Let me know if you have any other questions along the way if you decide to install them yourself.
Hey brother I went to the website and can't even find seat covers? Please help my gx470 is in need of new covers!
Hey Manuel, I’m sorry to report the bad news, but RRW took those seat covers off their website and stopped selling them. ☹️
I’m not sure why they removed them because I love mine. I wonder if they had issues getting them manufactured or something.
Maybe they did do you know or anyone else know of a similar quality brand because they look really nice!
@@manuelrodriguez2633 This was definitely the most OEM look of the options I saw. I know there are some others out there and the GX470 and GXOR Facebook groups have some good threads on this. I know eBay also has some options.
Would hot gluing or supergluing the heat element sheet to the new seat cover been a possible solution?
Yeah a small amount of either would probably do the trick. I was worried of making a mess, so I went with the thread. That’s a valid route though and you should be fine using glue.
What brand is Your rack on top of the car?
Hey Daniel! This roof rack is actually a cheap amazon rack from a company called MaxxHaul. It was only $80ish and it's been holding up great for 1.5 years with hauling kayaks around on it often.
Any idea where to get these now? Link’s broken :(
Hey Byron, unfortunately RRW stopped making these seat covers last year and I have no idea why. I absolutely love mine and can’t figure out why they would stop…maybe supply chain issue?
I got beautiful real leather exact covers from LSeats
Where do I buy this seat cover sir
Sorry for the delay, unfortunately RRW doesn’t make these anymore 😔
Do you lift it? What brand of rims and tires do you have ?
Did not lift my GX yet, but plan to in the next 2 months. My wheels are Motegi wheels and Falken Wildpeak tires. I go through all the details and install process in Vlog 15. Here is the link for that. ua-cam.com/video/j7VlcnApt3k/v-deo.html
How does the color match up to the dash/door panels? I have an 06 with the same interior and have been looking into this.
It’s slightly darker, but it’s very close. I’m so happy with the results and it looks great in the vehicle!
A little loose fitting, but i like em.
👍🏾
Whats the point of your intro. 2 ads before your intro was over.
LOL Ian. I havent watched this video in so long (~2 years). I apologize for this absurdly long intro, but you'll have to excuse me for this as it was all part of the process to get to where I'm at now. I was still figuring things out with editing back then. Hopefully you find the newer vlogs I release are much more to the point and the into is short.
I'll pay you $250 to do my seats... now that you know what you're doing ;)
I’d love to help a fellow GX buddy out, but I’d pay $250 just to get out if having to do that job again 😂
Do mine for $300 lol
I would definitely pay $300 for someone to do these.
