Great job! I did this when I converted my Gen1 Tacoma to 4runner leather seats and it was way easier than I thought it be! I did replace the foam with new OEM though. My back used to hurt after an hour of driving but now a trip from SF to Tahoe is no problemo!
For those who own a newer models that comes with Airbags, be real careful at the time you remove the seat from it position on the floor due to the cable that is hooked to the floor and also with the wiring, I do recommend disconnect the battery and even with that precaution make sure you have a radio with a security code, which you will need it at the time you hooked the power back
Remember you also need to discharge the air bag capacitor as well… just removing the battery isn’t enough… I’ve popped more than my share of air bags forgetting to discharge the cap.
After watching the console mock up video, I searched for replacement seats for your rig. I couldn't find the correct color and the seats weren't in any better shape than what you had. These turned out great.
Excellent thanks! I plan to do mine after receiving the leather. I will do one seat per weekend. Starting with the passenger seat first. The next weekend should go smoother with the driver's side seat. Thank you.
That would be smart. I just did this and started with my passenger seat, and it ended up taking me way longer due to the heating elements sewn in. I was driving my kids around in the back seat for days but thankfully I still had the drivers seat untouched!
Wow, thank you so much for sharing this video. I really like the fact of how you go into detail of how to install the hog rings with hog ring pliers. I’ve been really looking to replace the seat covers on my 32 year old car the only thing I was worried about was the seat foam whether I get it right or not, what type of leather did you use exactly? I heard that NAPA leather is the best either that or full grain leather.
100% would go to Land Cruiser heaven over L seats. They fixed there supply line I’ve been getting orders within 2 weeks and they are just far superior to lseat and you can get the foam from them as well.
How have these held up? I hear iffy things about LSeat leather and I'm trying to decide what to do about my seats. Tried the Procar Elite Lumbars and they're nowhere near as comfy as stock.
Michael, did you buy the seat fabric already sewn together into a cover, or did you have Corrie sew it up for you? I ask because I am going to be redoing the seats in both my Bronco and my wife’s 4Runner. Also while I’m in there we are going to be adding heated seats along with full power adjustments.
Wonderful result. But to be honest I would much prefer to have a craftsman like yourself renovate the seat than a man like myself who hasn't your talents
Or most just let the seats sit in the Sun for a few hours before installing. Either way, the seats should tighten up shortly with the truck parked outside.
What's the green tool (wired) you're using on the foam before you attach it? I'm about to do the Exact. Same. Job... so thanks for the inspiration and instruction!

They really turned out amazing
Wow. Just Wow. What a job to tackle!
awesome job! thank you for detail technic show and display
Great job Mike.
Great video it’s underrated
Looks like it turned out awesome, great work! How do you find the comfort level compared to the seats prior to doing this repair?
Really great - especially with the extra foam. Night and day.
thank you share detail the video

@12:40 Now that's what I call a bucket seat!
Hahahaha
Love it been tempted to have my seats redone, just don't want to pay for it. Where did you order you covers? And are you satisfied with the finish?
So to make new seats, could you hypothetically just remove the old leather and then put a seats cover hover the foam that's left?

Hey Mikey, A job very well done. You certainly redefine the term "Slapping Leather" Just sayin. Cheers, Mate.
Freekn awesome, nicely done!
what thickness of the foam should i buy? one inch?
Do you remove the headrest sockets to remove and replace leather without tearing it?
Wondering will he do this for people I I’m need him to do mines 🤔
Sorry, can you do that over again? I was distracted by the incomplete YT 492727ZED in the background...
Haha - good eye my friend! I've been working up a studio-scale replica for a number of years.
nice job..., did u do new leather yourself or paid 4 that, then install yourself???
where did you get the Replacement Upholstery from?
Any issues with adding foam and the cover being too small now?
Did you consider buying new OEM seat foam?
You wouldn't be able to find OEM seat foam for an old car like this.
@@ThorD4602 oem seat foam is still available

Up next, how to change out the upholstery on the back seat!!
Nice job

Yo! You can get heated options - I got them ready to go from lseat.com.
@@OverlandBound I am going to be getting the parts from Ford and Toyota.
Why didn’t you add seat heaters I got a set from Amazon for 60 bucks and it was a beyond easy install when I added my Lseat covers to my 80
Who did the stitching in the leather covering

Nice YT freighter ;) and a little ID4 tune at the end there too?
How 2 take out the whole seat on van econoline?
Would you suggest ? should i add Dimond stitches or just regular? where did you buy that foam?
Joann's Fabrics. I got 1" I believe. Thanks for watching!
🤌🏾Wouldve been nice to see the sewing part, THATS the hard part
Where can i find seat covers like this for a 2012 honda crv ex-l? Are those after market, specific to that car or is it a universal seat cover? Thanks
I think you can steam them to get the wrinkles out.
Or most just let the seats sit in the Sun for a few hours before installing. Either way, the seats should tighten up shortly with the truck parked outside.
Ya they tightened up after a bit. You can see the difference in the final shots. They look great now.
@@OverlandBound they look great! Y’all are going to have a nicely refurbished and enhanced LC when everything is done. Thanks for some great ideas.
4:48 worse than your kid's legos :D :D :D I'm dying!
So, after everything, would you do it again?
He said it was easy. They look like new. What do you think?
Need rebath to get into the car upholstery business😂
On average typically how much sqft of leather do you use for 1 car seat
These replacement car seat covers are plug and play, you don't measure anything

That’s a small head gun to make the contact cement tacky before joining.
@@OverlandBound Okay I never saw you actually use the contact cement! So you did?
Any coupon codes for your subscribers?
I want to do this without removing my seats...
He kinda of reminds me of Jim Carrey lol
I got Tom Cruise vibes
Why is the leather not taunt? It kind of looks....not finished.
It tightens up after install. After about 2 days it was taut.
@@OverlandBound Is there a way to post how the end product looks? Thank you for making this video. It has been helpful!
I’ve seen better
