I just purchased a LX470 yesterday, already had the vinyl on order and independently chose the same exact one from the same company lol I found this video researching how to remove the door panel trim pieces.
I'm doing the same thing to my GX and upgraded the head unit when I saw your videos. Great looking rig and thank you 🙏🏼 for posting. Hope to get my rig like yours one day. ✌🏼💛
Thank god someone did this , I’ve been looking for ideas on how to do my car but every video is putting the wood grain vinyl on shout out to this dude for hooking it up and showing how to do it well needed information 👍
I copied your idea and I did the same exact thing on my GX and it looks great! For the steering wheel, I purchased WheelSkin Leather kit to remove the woodgrain.
That's awesome! Glad you like the look of the brushed aluminum as well! Oh nice! How do you like the WheelSkin? I plan on doing a sew on steering wheel cover soon.
@@Awesomoto I love the sew on WheelSkins. I got the grey leather so it blends in with the rest of the steering wheel. The premade holes helped out a lot and their videos were very helpful and I was able to install in less than an hour.
@@seattleshon Nice to know! I did a similar sew on alcantara wheel cover on my M4 and loved it, so I wanted to try that route again since it was so nice.
Great video as always think the truck looks great not sure about the metal bumper or lift but look forward to the other mods! Great work and very clear instructions!
Thanks Kaisar! Yeah the metal bumper and lift really start the off-road transformation and some are not a fan of the look. I'll be filming a speaker install video today and many other common upgrades throughout this year, so hopefully some of those are of interest to you.
@@kaisarsaleem8422 I finished filming the speaker install yesterday. The new speakers sound amazing!! Yes, I still plan to install the aftermarket rear camera. Many have asked about this, so I’m going to move it up in priority in my list of mods.
Great video! I plan on doing mine this weekend. I got the Vvivid black wood grain. I bought a steering wheel cover from Ali Express that a lot of people like on Facebook GX group. It’s the one you have to sew on, but looks really good.
That's awesome Shaun! I was looking at the black woodgrain and almost went that route. I also plan to do the sew on steering wheel cover. I did an alcantara sew on cover for my M4 and I love it!
Thanks Alex! 🙏🏻 It’s definitely worth the time. I will say that after a few months if this I’m deciding to paint the two vent pieces matte black to match the Phoenix head unit. Unfortunately the vinyl wants to peel up around the vents for me. I think it’s only because this vinyl is thicker than most. A solid non textured vinyl would shape to that area much better and hold up. Hope this helps!
@@RobertjSkelton You shouldn't have offered another hand, because I might just take you up on the offer! LOL! It would make the job a lot easier with someone helping. I'm hoping the quickjacks can make the job a little easier as well.

Hey Robert! Well this channel will be perfect for you if you get a GX! I couldn’t decide between the two myself last year, but decided GX and haven’t regretted it since! Thanks for reaching out and checking out the channel! 🙏🏻
@@Awesomoto you’re welcome man, I’m definitely subscribed regardless if I get the GX or not. I hate being this picky, but I love the roll down back window in the 4runner and I’m not a fan of the barn door on the GX. Then again, most previous GX owners never took these off roading and had better maintenance, and the 4runners were probably beat up on trails a lot.
@@robertrob96yount58 Thanks for subscribing, I really appreciate it! I too wasn’t a huge fan of the barn door and like the 4Runner window better, but the interior is nicer and you hit the nail on the head with the maintenance upkeep on the GX vs. 4Runner. @@Awesomoto Exactly, the luxury interior and exterior really gives it that edge over the 4runner. It’ll be better for long trips and longevity overall. Hey Brian, the previous owner installed a SiriusXM radio, which mounted up nicely to the bracket where the ashtray was. I've kept it for now, but thought about mounting one of the RAM mounts there.
@@Awesomoto very simple! I was happily surprised! Remove the covers on the turn signal lever and the cruise control cover. Then us a T30 to back out the screws that hold the airbag in. Then carefully remove the airbag you’ll have to pull up on the yellow tabs with a small flathead. Then make sure to remove the horn button connection. Then us a 19mm and a breaker bar to remove the nut that holds the steering wheel on. @@Awesomoto thanks. I actually found a company that did the ones for my friend’s 4Runner. I’m going neoprene because I need it to be water and mud resistant. Cal Trends.
Hey JReyes24! Yes, the beauty of this modification is that you can really use vinyl to spruce up the look of your interior...regardless of the make or model. Just pop off the trim and cover with vinyl.
I had mentioned a follow up on this in a vlog or two after this install. I ended up painting the two center console pieces black as the vent heating and cooling caused issues with the vinyl peeling.

Hey Cody! Glad you asked. I’m going to film an update video to the over the weekend. The vinyl works great on the door panels. Unfortunately the curvature around the center dash pieces where the air vents are make it difficult for the vinyl. I’m going to keep the door panels wrapped, but will paint the two center dash pieces a satin black color to match the Phoenix head unit.

The wood trim is real wood, not "vinyl" as styled in the title.
Sorry for the confusion on that but the title is referring to the vinyl wrap used to delete the wood trim.
