That tone is SOOO good! A very well put together rig. I'm incredibly proud of how far you and Coop have come in the last 10ish years I've known yall since GP. I'm very excited to finally meet you two and both Travis and Johnny also! Safe travels and I hope it's as stress free as possible!
It's going to be an honor to see yall play. Thank you for putting up with the high cost of coming to the States. I'm so psyched to meet you and Johnny and the rest of the band!
When you finish the tour, a cool idea for a video would be to review this setup. Like explain the pros and cons that you encountered and maybe some stuff you would change for the next tour
If I ever play live again I’m just going: Guitar > Wireless > DI Box > Interface > DAW > FOH & IEM All patch changes automated in the DAW. I Dig your setup tho and I’m happy great sound is becoming so much more accessible
hey man great tone great gear. I also own a Quad Cortex. Is it possible that you can maybe do a video explaining how to actually set up midi sends and in ears and all that that someone should know if they ever play live?
I was just about to ask the same thing so I second that! In the video he mentioned wanting to get wireless in-ears in the future but does that mean they use wired or none at all. With all the MIDI synced stuff I would assume they’d have to play to a click. At least the drummer.
The situation you described of being at the front and not hearing any guitars because the pa is overhead is exactly what happened to me at an Ingested show last night. All I could hear was the acoustic drums. Stepped back into the pit a few metres and the sound was spot on.
Hey Andrew, would you consider making a video about your guitar rig in the context of the rack? Like how your midi switching works with the QC? I couldn't find any videos which covered this properly in a well explained manner. Great video and thank you very much in advance! \m/
Thanks for showing us behind the curtain! I recently got a quad cortex myself and I was wondering what kind of midi interface you're using? The fact I can use that and focus purely on my stage performance vs stepping on pedals is a exhilarating! Have fun on tour, cheers man!
The solution to the Quad Cortex not being visible would be for Neural to make a rack version like Kemper do, it would also fill the gap at the top. Love the video by the way!
So you dont have to touch the pedal at all?! What kind of sorcery is this? Sounds great! Hope to see you guys live and hopefully you'll make some nice recordings of the live shows.
Basically his DAW has has an automation lane programmed that can send midi CC to the whammy, making it do exactly the right pitches/movements at the parts of the song requiring them. You can do this with presets on the quad cortex as well, for example, if you need an atmospheric lead tone for an intro, but then you need your classic djent tone, it can switch for you when you get to that part of your song. This also works with synths, basically anything that can receive midi
Andrew we run a QSC Touchmix 30 for out backings (has a daw interface) in ear splits (shure PSM300's with a distro), and direct split outs for FOH. All of our guitar/bass tones from our processors or fed in an independently send out from the Aux's of the mixer thru the 8 channel fan tail. We have a input dedicated for a send from the FOH for the drum mix so we can have drums folded back in. Best option for folded back tones on stage and a smaller footprint option are a good set of self powered speakers (these can be set on an open aux) a good FRFR speaker would be like the K12.2's from QSC. Ill see you in Anaheim my dude.
Makes sense I think haha! I considered going FRFR to save the space and skip the power amps but for now this just made the most sense working with gear we already had
@@BaenaCarcosa Sure sure , It also helps that I work for QSC so being able to outfit the band with gear was a little more easier and economical haha. Im gonna DM you on FB real quick.
Yooooo real cabs, thank god. You’re playing X Ray in MKE and I’ve been to way too many shows there that use fake amps and it sounds so god damn awful because everything coming through the PA. Massive props to using live cabs. Your back won’t thank you but your audience will lol
Aw man, this is gonna be an experience for you for sure, so happy for y'all! Might I suggest, if not done already, to also bring a backup laptop, exactly set up as the one you're using with you? Might save you some really embarassing accidents...
I love this but I hope the best for your laptop setup. Stuff is a pain for a lot of bands. I’m all for less is better but I get it that for a full experience of the band you want this. Best of luck bud I love your setup
@@BaenaCarcosa damn thats tight ive always wanted to do that so im not having to breakdance on stage but my axe fx ultra is old and i have no clue how to do that haha :(
Sick rig, man! Question: A few years ago, you were using a Helix but then switched over to physical pedals. I’m curious what your reasoning is for that. If my band was going to play live with backing tracks and automation, I would try to use Helix Native VST for guitars and bass. Thanks for sharing!
I've never tried to play live using plugins all based off of a laptop, it still kind of seems sketchy to me not having a physical amp/processor of some kind and fully relying on a computer for everything. The more you add in the mix on the computer the higher the risk of something going wrong I guess is why I just continue to use some form of physical device whether it be a floor or rack based modeller or whatever
Cool, man! That makes a lot of sense! I also agree with you on still bringing cabs! I like to stand upfront and I’m always bummed when a band is only running to front of house because I can’t hear any guitars.
This is going to sound like a dumb question, but, are you going to have IEMs when you go on tour? Or if you dont, how do you keep up with the backing tracks and bass? I apologize, I must've missed something!
Dude for the life of me I can't get my gojira archetype to sound as good as yours. I don't know how to dial it in or eq it or anything. Is it my settings I need to change or is it just not driven enough cuz like the tone sounds good but it's just not powerful enough
I’m willing to bet that rig won’t survive the tour. Speaking from experience here, you should get a rack with some shock proofing and thicker plywood. It would be a shame if that gorgeous gear got annihilated in Milwaukee or some other shithole. Other than that, you’re doing some really cool shit with that rig Andrew. I’m gonna have to make a trip to whatever dive you’re coming to whenever you get in the Houston area.
Bro I do live worship music, put a drawer in the empty space with some foamy stuff in the bottom, you NEVER know when you’ll need some random Gaff or an extra pick, sm58, etc. When you’re more fine tuned remove the drawer.. I’m still with my drawer btw so I’ll shut up now brother! 😂😂
I think there are 4U empty spaces if we take out the blank plate. And if I’m correct and we don’t need 2x SD power stages that would also free up another 2U. Either way we’ll figure it out haha
@@BaenaCarcosa I know but I think tour managers have something against us here in louisiana. Seriously. Every tour skips right over us. I managed to book Dope and Motograter to come to a night club in a neighboring city to me. It cost a small fortune to get them here but the money was made back. But that's pretty much the only way we get to see cool stuff around here. If we do it ourselves. There have been other really cool bands we got booked at that club but those were the coolest ones I had part in booking.
Haha I think we have one but we don’t have the ability to set it up in time for this tour since our backtracks are just a simple mono send and we don’t have the IEM hardware yet
Cool video, I'm hyped to see you guys live in Toronto! Question, are you planning on doing any tour vlog type videos over the next few months? It would be very cool to see the behind the scenes of touring at this level and the snags that come with gear, venues etc. Regardless, good luck brother🤙🤙

Sad that the digitech whammy is still required with the quad cortex because the qc pitch shifting isnt polyphonic and sounds bad. I do the same.
