    Enjoyed this show, well-done. I am watching several series of British television from my home in Texas-- I have been taking note of all the beautiful towns and villages-- kind of like my vacation eh?

    *************SPOILER ALERT*************
    The ending is horrific--but sadly very accurate and realistic on all levels. I.e. what it's saying about the great chasm between parents and children because of the narcissism of modern parents, how the sins of parents truly are visited upon the children, how class and monetary wealth have a HUGE outcome on whether someone is treated justly, given a free pass for a horrific crimes or made to pay for the evil acts of the wealthy, and our very frightened/arms length relationship to mental health issues, which just perpetuates them ballooning out of control--all of it is true.
    When I say narcissism, I mean along the spectrum. But that mother of the boy who is wrongly convicted of the murder. Hers is an amazing portrayal of full-blown malignant NPD. She doesn't care for him, except as ego supply. As soon as he can no longer provide her with that supply, he's dead to her. But when she realizes that this situation can provide her with a public audience--she is back on his team just as quickly as she dropped him. It' a very telling and spot on account of this terrible mental health disorder.

    I feel so sorry for Michael!! And even though he was vile to his mother it was all her fault for calling the police to her home.....they might never had found him otherwise and might have actually found out the real truth....

    Melodrama? No. The strong emotions are not an end in themselves in defiance of logic and moral truth. The film shows quite ordinary people thrust into a situation which they are unequal to and responding with grief, lies and, most obviously, violence - verbal or physical according to the degree of their social education. They remain in all this characteristically human. Some very good acting, the policeman's little boy included...

    My mother and I think the father must have tried it on with Emily too. The way he was concerned about her was a little ...off. He wasn't concerned as a father but more as a guilty complice. And the episode is called Sins of a Father afterall...
    Everyone seemed to want something from her. Something she couldn't or wasn't willing to give...

    & FYI Police person-swans are not defenseless-they are bloody powerful, they are bloody scary & they can snap your neck…..
    I’m not sure how that young boy killed that swan-I was utterly surprised 😲 i mean-to throw a fishing line as far out to those swans-takes some muscle.
    Im not saying he didn’t do it, he felt threatened by them & thought they flew into him on purpose, so he got his revenge (being already full of rage and anger towards something else bigger than swans).

    An melodrama with a cast of particularly nasty characters. It concerns an unhappy marriage, the possible murder of a daughter, and a number of suspects. It ends with a ridiculous trial that implicates one, and then another, without any resolution at all - except, thank goodness it's over.

    Show is good but the star detective lady is the worst actress.... one face, one emotion, no compassion for rhe family...
    The cleavage camisole is also riduculous ... " if you want to be taken seriously...."
    The other actors are great!

    If you don't want to read spoilers, don't read the comments. There are a lot of assholes who can't control themselves.

    • @MissJessyeNorman
      @MissJessyeNorman 10 років тому

      Where else are they meant to discuss the ending? Isn't the burden to exert self control on the viewer?! I always make sure not to get ahead of myself, by scrolling down before I'm finished watching the episode in its entirety. If I'm on a device that shows some of the comments automatically because of it's size/configuration, I avert my eyes until I can adjust the screen to block out all comments while I watch...

      MissJessyeNorman i have done this several times then discovered no ending to the movie after watching the whole thing. People can give spoilers but its polite to say its a spoiler at the start of the comment.
