Thank you for this post. My battery hasn't been staying strong when not rode for a few days, will jump but just want to get a new one to be safe and comfortable. Thank you for sharing and posting.
Woke up yesterday in Sweden with the same thing on my VS although mine just went , tick tick tick tick, Noco battery boost did the job.& put it on trickle charge when at work 👍
Good one, Stacey. You should get yourself a battery maintainer to keep your battery charged while the bike is not in use. A good one can monitor the battery condition and apply a triple charge when it's needed. Ride well. Cheers
Great job swapping out the battery. I love that you just get in and give it ago. Down here we use trickle chargers to keep the charge in the batteries when not in use (usually over winter). I wouldn't think you would need one, as you get to ride all year round :) . Id say it was due a replacement. Was the date written on the side of the old one 18/09/2016? That'👍s a pretty good run for a battery . High fives all round 🤩
Yeah it has been on the way out for ages now. I'm surprised it lasted the Tassie trip! You've got good eyes! Haha! Yes it said 2016 on there... so it must have been the original battery.
I have the original battery from 2018, I bought it used in July. Even with a battery tender, it clicks when I hit the key. Probably a dead cell. Will be swapping soon.
WHy is a talented home mechanic like you sending your bike to the mechanic?? (Re stripping bolts comment) Those little hex things in the first battery are called nuts. The long things called bolts. And why did you tape up the terminals when you were disconnecting the battery, I have never seen anyone do that before. Anyway good job in doing it yourself and we look forward to seeing you do oil changes on both bikes in the near future. Haha
Haha you're too kind. I still get it serviced every year... and with the Tassie trip we did, I wanted it to have a thorough check over to make sure it was in tip top condition. (I also managed to get the bolt out after a lot of fiddling around! I used the dremel to cut a line through the top... then got a flat head screwdriver and clamp to get it out! Painful process!) As for taping up of the terminals, I saw it done on another install video and figured it wouldn't hurt. 🤷♀️
One of the best mods I've done I reckon. They make such a difference to the ride. Super comfy. They are Kuryakyn floorboards. Check out this vid I did on them. ua-cam.com/video/RNzyyhfuA2I/v-deo.htmlsi=y1E_WQ5VOBXqeSXo
OK! really? changing a battery is one of the easiest jobs to do. you have to remove more parts on a bike than a car, but still simple. good job, next time let's see you replace your chain. i sure could use the help.
Straight and to the point. Excellent job. I would use a dab of lithium grease on the terminals to prevent corrosion.

Girl you have been saving me I’m glad we have the same bike I just keep saving your videos!! Awesome job 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Haha glad you are finding them useful. The vulcan is a great bike hey!
Nicely done. A good battery is so much better for all the electronics on modern bikes.
Thanks Matt. It has been dying for a while now so I'm glad to be back in business!!

This video was super helpful! Thank you very much. This will be handy for when I need to change mine.
No worries! Ride safe

Great idea. Thanks Moz
Good job Stacey 👏🏻👏🏻 The big trip might have been to much for it 🤔
Lucky she doesn’t have a Harley …. Try to change one of those..😢
Yeah... it's been on the way out for quite some time so I knew it was on the cards.
I'm guessing that's a difficult job? Haha

Wahoo, Good job! 🥰 Nice clear vid too!
Thanks! I see you got a new camera too! Woot woot!
Great job on th battery swap. A gel battery is an excellent choice. There's no battery acid to top off. It's sealed and good to go.
Oh awesome! I just fluked it... like most things 😉
Well done, us chicks can do anything. (Sue from Identity: Biker!)
Hell yes we can! Haha 💪

Yeah it was super super easy! I've never changed the chain before though... could be on the cards in the future if needed.
