Crazy how the rocks glow. Thanks for sharing Shane⚒⚒👍👍
Thank you for keeping the videos coming sir! Keeps a bit of normalcy during these wild times!
Love your vids man always learning new things lots of love from Australia
Your videos got recommended to be a bout a year and a half ago and I'm so glad I subscribed on the fist video. Keep up the great work 👍
The glowing glass is probably what is called Vaseline glass or uranium glass, that is why it glows so bright. Nice finds.👍
Yep, I was thinking uranium glass as well.
Hey cool video bro! Those yooperlights are so cool. We’re gonna have to plan a trip to find some in the future
Use the UV light to see how dirty your hotel\motel room is.
Try it on your bathroom?
If you have to stay the night in that room, do you Really want to see what's there? 😬
thanks for the video, Shane!
Awesome awesome they sure light up nice sweet adventure thank you
One time I found a glowing rock, but it had like 8 legs, a stinger, two pinchers, and was moving toward me.
Learned something new and cool 👍🏻 thanks Shane
That light on the ground really looks like special effects! Interesting video 👍
Your never to old to learn
Thanks for the video and teaching me something new
Cool 🤘🏼
Great video. Gives me an idea to go hunting for some now.
Shane the glass that glowed is called vaseline glass it's radioactive, you can find it at glass beach in fort bragg california
Super cool Shane, maybe next time!
Now you're in my part of the world, Shane. If I'd known, we could have gotten you into better rockhounding grounds than the north side of Chicago offers. It's cool that there were still things to find there though. Stay well.
I am desperate to try and get my hands on a Yooperlite, they get harder to find the further away from them you are! Regardless of whether or not you found one (or....just a nail! Or asphalt!), looks like you had a lot of fun! Thanks for another fantastic video! C:
The glowing glass is most likely uranium glass. It was common in the 1880's - 1920's and they added oxide diuranate (uranium salt) to the glass mix before melting. It was then made in to glass wears, decorative bowls, cups vases etc. If you shine a black light at uranium glass it will fluoresce just like those pieces you found.
Sweetness !! Yooperlites total score !!
I'd bring a geiger counter along too, around the Great Lakes! Well, at least my little area for sure. Cool stuff!
Nice, I really need to get up to my local quarry with my uv light.
Good trip to the beach ⛱
Better than sitting in watching TV.
Imagine all the goodies at the bottom of the great lakes... Gold, silver, gems ....
Ya need a boat and a long suction hose.
Cheers Mr 🐕
Hello Shane. Love your videos
Me watching knowing I’ll probably never go to Illinois
Lots of chalcedony on Lake Michigan shores in southeastern Wisconsin! Maybe I’ll see you out there soon 👍🏻
The yooperlites tend to be more prevalent on the Michigan side of Lake Michigan, if you are anywhere in the upper Great Lakes region, it’s possible to find them. You may even find them brought by glacier into N. Indiana. That far south, you may have luck checking along riverbeds and rocks around lake beaches. Another place you may find them is in decorative rock that they bring in to accent parking areas and business fronts.
Cool vid, Shane. Good times!
Thanks for sharing.
Ps. Who would have ever thought Prospecting anything, anywhere would put a fingernail in your pocket?😂🤪
My state! I am happy! You have to visit the southern part. It has a bigger variety of rocks.
I'd only find Scorpions doing that! Awesome video 👍
Ruby will also flouresce under uv light. I have a 500mw blu Ray laser pen I bought some time ago that I use to mess around with sometimes. You can defocus it into a torch :)
Wow, what a flashback. Loyola beach, right?
I lived nearby for a year and a half, closest beach to my appartment.
You found a Hag stone! It the one with the hole Klesh lol
I'm a Yooper, never knew they existed.
Spent my life from 1 week old to 25 living in Southern Illinois just outside Saint Louis have done some prospecting in that area not a lot of luck but some good metal detecting on old homes site
I'm in southwest Michigan! havent looked for these but, ill have to start hunting at night when I can't find beach glass
Did you find
Usually if you find glass that glows under uv its from 1800 to early 1900 and has uranium in it. Thats why it glows green, check out Wildkyle on UA-cam he does bottle hunting, thats where I learned this tidbit.
I want some of those glowing rocks so bad!!!!!!
Yup, definitely a fingernail! Haha, cool video thanks for sharing!
Just an FYI for those wondering about UV Lights, you want the 365mW not the 395 which the purple
Great ! thanks !
Totally thought you said seagull @$$ lol!!!
Yooperlites can be found all over the world. i have a friend here in denmark that finds them, he probaly have 3-400 kg of it. we figure it was brought to denmark by glaciers from norway and sweden
Yeah Eh , you have to go da U.P. To get da good yooperlites eh. Da Lake Superior shoreline is where you will find em eh.
Great video Shane. And Lake Superior beach has some great flour gold spots too !
YEP...SOMEWHERES AROUND THOSE PARTS YOU ARE GETTING CLOSER TO THE LAKE MACATAWA AREA IS....( BUT YOU HAVE TO GET TO HOLLAND MICHIGAN FIRST...THEN ASK ABOUT IT - AND HOW TO FIND THE HUGE BLACK SAND HILL OUT THERE. YOU LIKELY
NEED A BOAT...LOL....I AM ON THE FARTHER SIDE OF MICHIGAN NOW...BUT USED TO LIVE IN WEST MICHIGAN....😉
I’ll definitely take you yooperlight hunting......
Pooperlites are a lot more common. And I know how to find them. In a pooperite concentrate bag from DC. You pay for 20 bucks of poop and harvest 80 bucks in poop.
You need a better uv light! Check out the Convoy line, pure UV. I hunt for Petoskey and Yooperlites successfully with them.
You should do more videos out of Illinois my home state i grew up in
When I find green glowing rocks I really have to wonder if I should get my geiger counter out.
I bet these are!
Works for scorpions too.
That green, glowing glass is shards from uranium glass.
I was going to say the same thing, that’s absolutely uranium glass.
If the hole went all the way through it, that would be a Hag stone. The Northern Mudlarks find them in England/Scotland in a couple of their videos.
Tom Massie did an episode of Gold Fever in Chicago and found gold on the beach.
Go to the Lake Michigan from the Michigan side and you will find more. Three oak Michigan free beach area
Cool. I was just in New buffalo and Buchanan last week
Yooperlites go for like $30 a pound. Awesome video brother. What kind of adventure will be indulging in when you hit California? Be awesome if you hit up Dave at his mine.
Giggling at the fingernail stash
Hey bud love the video if you get a chance try the Keweenaw peninsula in the u p I was able to find a Ziploc bag full in about 45 minutes
The glass is radioactive Uranium glass.
Hmmm, find a rock that glow's on the beach 24 Hours l8r you Have Superpowers just saying lol Great video thanks for sharing, Cheers from Canada!
How long will you be in Illinois? I lived there for 26 years. It's soooo flat there.
Sehr interessant. Diese Steine kannte ich nicht. 👍 Viele Grüße Peter
Super duper yooper-lites. Sorry, I had to. 😂
Anyway, I wonder if that green glass you found are old pieces of uranium glass... It glows just like that. Either way, looks like you had fun and that's all that matters!
The rock you said was asphalt may actually be a black pudding stone
do Iowa next I live there
From where i xan find thatvlight
amazon
If its a glacier would you also be able to find gold?
Legit, come to Wisconsin. We find them all the time along Lake Superior. Illinois blows. Wisconsin for the win!
what is the significance of this rock?
The rock w/ the hole is possibly an Omar.
That looked more like asphalt with little rocks stuck to it
Keep watching
@@Klesh you are using the wrong uv light.
And I sub like on all of your videos
that might me a conglomerate and not asphalt ... nature makes "asphalt", too!
The concrete? Is it a concretion? Some have the potential to contain fossils.
Don't these need a specific wavelength of UV to make them glow really bright? You mentioned that they were long wavelength flashlights, but as they're LED ones that's going to give you a very narrow band of UV so you mightn't get the right excitation to make the yooperlites show up well.
365 nm wavelength is the best
@@hermancoen6528 depends on the material cos of quantum stuff. It may well be 365nm, but it may not
Early can I get a reply from the legend himself
That depends what legend you’re asking for
@@Klesh why of course you are the legend I was implying to 😁 thank you for the reply
Would you please show me a link to such a UV flashlight? Thinking this is something I can get the kids involved in. 😊
Btw, thank You for excellent show again👌

@@Klesh thank You Boss👍😄
You need a shortwave 365nm UV light to view fluorescent minerals properly. The 395 that was linked to won't show you much at all.
@@MissyMissAnthropy Thank You👍
Came here from discord
Finding treasures in Nebraska.
Let me know where to find them 😭
Look in the mirror, nicest people I have ever met! Treated me like fam from the start:)
Hi I love your vids and can I come and hang out with you and i live in the impartmeant that brown one right at the begging so I would like to say hi and
Only an hour away from me man. Love to do Indiana or Michigan with you. You were about an hour or 2 from Weko Beach where we prospect on our videos. 😍. Great place for Geods we like in Illinois too you should check out.
Anything that has had chlorine on it will glow like cloth, some glass made with uranium, which will glow green it’s called Vaseline Glass. Any plastic glows I collect Vaseline Glass and the sea glass Vaseline is one of the most looked for
Nope
Kinda grainy ngl
Second comment!
