Mom tip to avoid added sugars but keep the kids happy: use honey instead of syrups. It's natural sugar and if you buy local honey you'll also be helping their immune systems.
Does not make a difference. It’s in a different form but you’re getting nearly the same amount of Sucrose to White Sugar. While it can increase slight health benefits, it’s not a huge difference. You’re mostly after the taste. But if anything in large amounts avoid Agave.
kathrynvanwaart Also, REAL maple syrup has a low glycemic index. It's great when used sparingly in lots of things, especially yogurt and smoothies. It also contains iron, I think.
kathrynvanwaart ‘Non processed’ sugar is no different than normal ‘processed’ sugars. Its just a myth in the ‘beauty’ and amateur health scene and pretty unscientific. And no, theres no real basis for a lower glycemic index either. (Look at the sources for supporting articles and from ‘youtube gurus’ people; there mostly arent any) Edit: Im not saying processed sugar is good. Its just that unprocessed sugars are just as bad.
I think going back to the sugar habit is bad because if you saw inprovement in your kids why not continue maybe not ban all the sugar maybe give them a little treat here and there
Sugar is an important factor for survival. You need healthy doses to survive. I wonder W H Y everything has sugar, because you kinda need it? Don’t ban it, just keep it healthy.
My other half challenged me to go without sugar for 6 months. The only things i was allowed to use to sweeten stuff was honey and molasses. It's been about a year now and I absolutely hate sugar now to me it taste gross. I highly suggest you try again and replace sugar with honey or molasses it is much healthier. It takes a lot of getting use to but it's definitely worth it.
Hell, even cutting down on sugar does a lot - As a child I used to eat 4 bowls of coco pops at weekends, I was slightly obsessed with sugary cereals and sweets. However, I put on a fair amount of weight during my A Levels, so decided to exercise more and only eat sweet stuff at weekends. Now I'm nearly 25 and my sugar tolerance is waaaay lower - I feel a bit sick and anxious if I eat too much. It might also be an age thing? It still tastes good, but I feel awful if I have too much these days.
The thing with added sugar is that it's not always listed as SUGAR, it comes in many names like: cane syrup, rice syrup, fructose, maltodextrin, etc. I try to not consume processed food as much as I can, but it's hard! You did great!
Imagine if the kids were teens. They would just hop over to 7 Eleven get some slurpies and come back home and say they "Went to the park" Just my thought tho 😊
Tips for everyone: most people hate brocoli but you should cook it and put craft cheese or any cheese I guess and then you get cheesy brocoliiii it’s delicioussss
@Andrei Stan Wyatt was trying to figure out if it was his meat on his dinner plate @ 3:20. Nothing weird about the comment except for the out of place context!
Limelights! Based on my personal experience that is so true! Last year, only by reducing my soda intake, I lost enough weight to get my mom surprised about how thinner I got when I got some of my clothes tailored. I was still eating like crap, but even then, that tiny change in my diet make a noticeable difference. Now, about 10 months later, I’ve been working out for the pas seven months, as well as trying to eat as healthy as possible, watching my sugar intake (especially by completely quitting soda) and doing intermittent fasting for the past 6 weeks or so, I feel amazing!!!!
I was told if you’re going to get rid of processed sugars, at the grocery store you need to stick to the perimeter around the grocery store, therefore staying away from the middle, that and the bakery ( which is also where sugar lurks )because that’s where all the crap is. Not an easy thing to do.
Mathilde Cominotto no they just don’t know how to look, Ik ppl that almost completely cut out sugar, she said she still getting fruit juice which still has a crap ton of sugar, some have about up to 20 grams of sugar. Theres also organic foods that don’t have sugar.
There are healthier sugars and sweeteners that have some to no calories and don't affect mood or behavior: Coconut sugar Stevia Monk fruit Date sugar carob Glukopur (grape sugar) Fruit sugar like apple sauce homemade jams Dried fruits Pomegranate molasses
For the pancakes if your kids want something liquid instead of syrup you could always microwave some frozen raspberries (if you stir them they turn into this really yummy sauce). We usually put it on vanilla ice cream 🙂
That poo poo answer lol I can assure you it's not just boys I used to say it when I was little and these little girls I babysit always want to talk about poop, poopy, or poo poo
you could have used natural honey as syrup or puree some fruit for the pancakes! edit: oh boy thanks for the likes, honey does have a good bit of sugar but it seemed to abide to their rules + moderation is key! Pureed fruit isnt bad either :> maybe she did run out tho
and yeah natural sugar kind of is less bad. processed sugar brings risk of cancer among other things. and when you stick to natural you consume less sugar in general, so yeah.
The natural sugar comes with a certain amount of different other ingredients like minerals etc. which makes it different for the body. The combination of what you eat is very important too and there are several studies that show how different food combinations influence the body like your insulin-levels.
I cut sugar completely out (1 month)except for natural sugar fruit... I had the worst headache for 3 days, moody, restless nights, after a week I lost 6lbs, and cursed a lot of people out.

kathrynvanwaart ‘Non processed’ sugar is no different than normal ‘processed’ sugars. Its just a myth in the ‘beauty’ and amateur health scene and pretty unscientific.
And no, theres no real basis for a lower glycemic index either. (Look at the sources for supporting articles and from ‘youtube gurus’ people; there mostly arent any)
Edit: Im not saying processed sugar is good. Its just that unprocessed sugars are just as bad.
We use mashed fruit on top of pancakes if we don't want sugar
Fruits have sugar too though
@@enlixted natural sugar. fruits don't have added sugar in them which is what is challenge is about
Maddycakes 411 or literally just reduce fruit to make a sauce?
Maddycakes 411 or you can add raw maple syrup
I love honey w/ my pancakes!
I think going back to the sugar habit is bad because if you saw inprovement in your kids why not continue maybe not ban all the sugar maybe give them a little treat here and there
Francois Charline I agree if they are fine without sugar keep it that way
Francois Charline yes that is a good idea!!!!
Braincube 013 awe thanks
Sugar is an important factor for survival. You need healthy doses to survive. I wonder W H Y everything has sugar, because you kinda need it? Don’t ban it, just keep it healthy.
SCSII there's good sugar and there's bad sugar they eat a lot of the bad sugar

Why not just squash strawberries and use it as jam
That One Person Obsssed With KPOP
DUDE People have diffrent tastes. -.-
My other half challenged me to go without sugar for 6 months.
@Vanessa-Chu Tv yes I did loose weight very easily. Another reason why I don't eat sugar anymore.
i cant do that, im too skinny, i want to get fatter but i dont know how :(
Hell, even cutting down on sugar does a lot - As a child I used to eat 4 bowls of coco pops at weekends, I was slightly obsessed with sugary cereals and sweets.
I CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE WEIGHT
*dumps entire bag of sugar into mouth*
Pink Blossom I am actually going to try it
Make two breakfasts?? Lol.. if i ask my mom she'll say that 'this is not a hotel' or you make one yourself 😂
Ann girlxx seriously! That makes kids brats, always giving them what they want.
Ann girlxx that should be her next challenge. Everyone eats what mom cooks. No exceptions.
Lol no one even eats breakfast in my house. People only cook once in a blue moon

*picks up a bag of sugar* OMG there's sugar in this?
Dylan Carr lol
Why does it have sugar?
The thing with added sugar is that it's not always listed as SUGAR, it comes in many names like: cane syrup, rice syrup, fructose, maltodextrin, etc. I try to not consume processed food as much as I can, but it's hard! You did great!
Imagine if the kids were teens. They would just hop over to 7 Eleven get some slurpies and come back home and say they "Went to the park"

Cutting down sugar just works wonders to our body! I should try this!
Limelights! Yaws

I was told if you’re going to get rid of processed sugars, at the grocery store you need to stick to the perimeter around the grocery store, therefore staying away from the middle, that and the bakery ( which is also where sugar lurks )because that’s where all the crap is. Not an easy thing to do.
perimeter not parameters
Those chocolate-chip cookies get to you...
Preach.
i actually didn’t know that
Olivia Spencer yeah the veggies, fruit, meat, and dairy etc. are all on the edges while most of the processed stuff is in the aisles
Grabs a bar:SUGAR
Grabs a bag of sugar: EVERYTHING HAS SUGAR
It's not sugar it's a pack of granola bars.
It still baffles me that there is added/processed sugar in so many things in America. Must be really hard if you are diabetic!!
I have Celiacs, thats difficult too, lots of foods have wheat that you wouldnt expect.
It's often used as a preservative, and yeah if you have to avoid the stuff it's a nightmare. Even toothpaste.
Pretty much everything has unnecessary added sugar in it here, and people wonder why Americans are obese.
Mathilde Cominotto no they just don’t know how to look, Ik ppl that almost completely cut out sugar, she said she still getting fruit juice which still has a crap ton of sugar, some have about up to 20 grams of sugar. Theres also organic foods that don’t have sugar.
It’s extremely hard, my grandpa has heart problems as well so he needs to take a lot of vitamin pills from the food he can’t eat because of sugar.

There are healthier sugars and sweeteners that have some to no calories and don't affect mood or behavior:
Coconut sugar
Stevia
Monk fruit
Date sugar
carob
Glukopur (grape sugar)
Fruit sugar like apple sauce homemade jams
Dried fruits
Pomegranate molasses
Pomegranate molasses? What is that? What brand anyway?
For the pancakes if your kids want something liquid instead of syrup you could always microwave some frozen raspberries (if you stir them they turn into this really yummy sauce). We usually put it on vanilla ice cream 🙂
Vanilla Ice Cream has sugar in it

in sweden theres a word for this. the pee and poo age where kids just think its hilarious to talk sbout disgusting stuff
Poop jokes/fart jokes are funny. THey change when you get older, but kids got it. -
you could have used natural honey as syrup or puree some fruit for the pancakes!
edit: oh boy thanks for the likes, honey does have a good bit of sugar but it seemed to abide to their rules + moderation is key! Pureed fruit isnt bad either :> maybe she did run out tho
Honey has so much sugar in one tablespoon it's crazy.
Natural sugar is not less bad
cowlufoo2 if the honey isn't processed or pasteurized it's allowed. it's natural sugar, like in fruit
and yeah natural sugar kind of is less bad. processed sugar brings risk of cancer among other things. and when you stick to natural you consume less sugar in general, so yeah.
The natural sugar comes with a certain amount of different other ingredients like minerals etc. which makes it different for the body. The combination of what you eat is very important too and there are several studies that show how different food combinations influence the body like your insulin-levels.
Trust me, having a boy has nothing to do with it. My daughter also would've said "poo poo."
