Acoustic To E-Drum Conversion Build | Part 1

- Опубліковано 21 лип 2019
- What is good guys? Today, I’d like to share with you how I converted my acoustic drum kit to an e-drum set up. It’s somewhat a DIY home practice solution that can work in a rented space. This video is only the first part of my acoustic to e-drum conversion. It’s already a bit longer than usual so I'll try and cover the rest in the second part. To be clear, this is NOT A GUIDE and this video is NOT sponsored. I'm just sharing how I did the acoustic to electric drum conversion. OK, thanks for checking this video out!

Very good tutorial and well produced.
Thank you 🙏🏽
The bass drum mounted cymbal stand has no problem holding my heavy Agop jazz ride. I gig with my Club Jam often.
Very nice cymbals! 💪🏽
Galing mo brad!!!🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼
Haha salamat Gino! 🙌🏽
Hi - glad I stumbled upon this video series - I want to convert my Tama Silverstar to an e- kit...
Just a quick question - what are those black rims that you are using on the snare and floor tom....I may have missed the description in the video... thank you..
Thanks for watching. I currently use the drumtec rubber rim guard but there are tons of other ones from ebay. I just find the ones from drumtec last longer for me. I now only use one for snare
Dope video! About to make a kit myself put me at ease using that trigger on the kick lol. How long did it take you to get your triggers shipped
Thanks! About 1-2weeks.
Awesome video, may I ask why didn't you go with the Jobeky 3ply mesh heads since you already got the triggers from there?
🙏🏽🙌🏽 I got both. One for my personal set one for my work place. I like the real feel a bit better.
Great video, may i ask how many triggers we able to input thru TD17 module? (For pads and cymbals) thanks
Tnx. Its 5 pc kit, crash ride hat + 2 aux in.
Hey Great Job on your kit, I have a question, What trigger are you using for the kick, are using any foam in the middle where your kick is hitting. seems like you would get a lot of bounce without any support in the middle.
Thanks! In general the drum tec triple ply real feel is not super bouncy. But there is some slight bounce. If you have the foam triggers like the rdrum or ufo they would be perfect. I’m just using the gibraltar felt behind since I havent had the chance to update yet. Im using side mount trigger still. Best feel I think would be the kd22 roland.
Hey! Great video - Liked and subscribed! Quick question if you don't mind - Any disadvantages to the ride and tom being attached to the kick drum? Any double triggering as a result? Are you having to really reduce the sensitivity of any of the signals to avoid this? Thanks!
Thanks man! Actually no issues at all. The trigger is attached to the top left lug. Before there was a very faint trigger on the bass drum when I hit the ride esp bell. But I changed felt pad to thick 60mm cympad. Issue solved.
@@ProjectBeats_ Thanks for the prompt response and info!
Great Content! I am about to make a hybrid setup myself. Glad that I landed on your video!
How much did the entire conversion cost you? Does this work well, also how quiet is this new setup?
Yash Dhamija Thanks! About around 1.1-1.3k SGD. way more quiet than acoustic. But not as quiet as rubber edrums.
@@ProjectBeats_ the noise is my concern. They seem loud. Could the toms be filled with blankets to quiet the noise?
Try removing reso heads. If you have reso there will sill be tone and resonance
Trigger for the cymbals?
Great video, thanks! How do you like the feel of the Real Feel heads?
Thanks! It’s great I like it. Except for the price. 😅 but other than that it works great. Really close to acoustic heads. Unlike single ply mesh. Those are trampolines.
@@ProjectBeats_ Do you think they're the best mesh heads you've ever played on?
I ask because I have some coming soon.
Cool. Yeah. No regrets man. Best one I tried so far. Can’t go wrong with these.
I’ve been looking everywhere for a rimshot trigger. Where do I find that rim trigger you have? I looked in the parts list.
2 zone trigger have them built in. Its just another piezo basically
Great build video. I have been kicking around the idea of doing this same conversion. Do you live in the states? I was wanting to buy parts from Jobeky, but I didn't know how that worked with customs. Did you have to pay a tax on the items when it crosses the boarder? Also, how long did it take Jobeky to send your items. Thanks for the build and information.
Thanks! I’m in Singapore. Here we pay import tax when it’s over 400sgd. About around a week or two.
Nice setup! Where are you from?
I‘m a novice drummer living in Manila, Philippines. E-drums here are freaking expensive, even the entry level ones! So, decided to build a setup like yours.
Thanks! Sounds cool. PH bro. Currently based in SG.
How much did it cost you to build and e drums?
Good job bro, tanong ko lang, ung td17 ba meron din positional sensing?
Salamat 🙏🏽. Wala bro. Td17 nasa side ang trigger ng snare kht mismong roland edrum. Pero functions like mini td50.
@@ProjectBeats_ yeah i thought ung mga even numbers lang ng td ang merong positional sensing (td8, td10, td12) pero ano ang personal experience mo about it? Ndi kasi ako drummer eh, but Does it make a big difference?
Td 25 and td50 has pos sensing. Hehe. No diff for me esp for DIY kits. It’s not easy to get pos sen working on DIY kit. Unless you’re using roland snare then yeah pos sen is nice to have. But if you get the DIY kit right, TD17’s dynamics does it for me. 👌🏽
Oof nice kit! Did you order it from Drumtech? Mahal ba shipping fee? Wanted to order the 17KVX, kaso gusto ko alamin muna yung experience ng iba sa pag order and ship ng product
Yup. The mesh heads and kick patch are directly from drumtec, so straight from UK to Singapore. Door to door, no issues with shipping. Not sure sa pinas tho. The kit is from a local store here in SG. Sweelee. I think sa Pinas Audiophile carries it. Tama Clubjam 🙏🏽🙌🏽
have you tried this setup with SD3 or similar computer based trigger system?
One sample where I’m using Superior Drummer 3 - ua-cam.com/video/zViFWIfDF3g/v-deo.html
How did you get those tambourine and crash sound?
Dual zone toms. I set rack rim to be splash and floor tom rim to be tambourine. It’s easy to do in TD17 module.
Please, I want to see and know how the Module is connected to the laptop with the drummer software like EzDrummer
TD17 USB to computer
Amazing!
Do you think the DDrum Red Shot Triggers would do the trick as well? I really don't want to drill the drumset :(
Thanks! IMO they are more for hybrid drums triggering acoustic heads and not A2E. There are cheaper and better A2E internal triggers that don’t need drilling. They just mount to internal screws. Tons of options out there. I’ve listed some in the description.
@@ProjectBeats_ you mean the Goedrum internal and UFO?
Those are some. There are many more.
@@ProjectBeats_ can you advise some non invasive and good (and also cheap)? I found the ddrum red shot with such characteristics. But i am no expert at all. I am using the same TD17 module
@@ProjectBeats_ i have an acoustic drumset
I love to do this. How much did you spend all in all?
I don’t remember exactly. Drums and module is 1.2ksgd plus mesh triggers and all maybe another 400-600sgd.
How are they loud ? Are more louder than Alesis DM10 with mesh head ?
My xymox drumpad is louder. Not sure bout dm10
@@ProjectBeats_ Thanks
Someone here know if i can convert my acoustic kit using a millennium mps 750 drum module?
Hi sir I'm new to your channel, just want to ask how many weeks po bago dumating orders from drumtec UK to your Location po?
Hey. A lil bit more than a week. Mga ganun. Altho wala pa pandemic nun. Baka iba ngayon. And not sure kung sa pinas ang ship. Nasa Singapore kasi ako. No issues sa shipping
1.5mm is the best trigger to the mesh
Great video, thank you. I am actually planning on doing a conversion using the exact same kit and very similar triggers so really helpful for me. May I just ask why you chose not to remove the air vents? Is this particularly difficult to do? I just wondering as I was planning on using the Jobeky pre-built cables. Thanks!
Cool! I just prefer not to touch it. Coz it looks so nice with the logo and all 😅
