- We visited the Leadville, Colorado area in August 2022 with our son, Jacob, to hike, eat and sight-see. Join us in this episode as we hike to the summit of Mount Elbert, the highest peak in Colorado and the second highest peak in the contiguous states via the North Mount Elbert Trail. Amazing!!! I will hike to the top of a 14er some day!! I have only gone as high as 12,500!! So far lol!! Congratulations and praying your wife feels better soon and can join u at the top sometime!!
Thanks! Hiking a 14er can be a great experience. It certainly helps if you are acclimated to the altitude. By the end of the day, we all felt good and were ready for the yummy pasta.
What an achievement, congratulations to you and Jacob. So sorry Paula was not feeling well and not able to join you both at the top. Can’t even imagine how extremely tough 4500 ft of climbing is. Those views you captured at the top were absolutely breathtaking.

This was the hardest 14er that we've done. The elevation plus the relentless climbing made for a really hard hike. But the views at the top made it all worth it. Thanks for watching. We appreciate you!
Hey a 13 year old here. me and a class of kids maybe 20 did this last week it was so foggy you could not see but a few feet in front of you. One of my friend fell and rolled backward because he couldn’t see anything. it then started hailing while above tree line. And with the relentless false summit, freezing cold temperatures and hail only four people made it to the top. me two of my friends and one of the four teachers. It took us 4 hours and it was the hardest thing I have ever done

Awesome! You will love it! Beautiful views, but the climb and the altitude make it a really difficult hike. Start early to avoid being at the summit when the afternoon storms roll in. Most of all, enjoy!
Thanks for the video! I'm hoping to make this hike in August 2023. I will be traveling in a small 25 foot RV. Do you know if I will be able to park it at the trail head?
Thanks for watching! We remember the parking lot being pretty large, but it is a very busy trailhead and fills up quickly. Also, the roads to the some of the trailheads are really bad so you. might want to check this out before you take your RV. We can't remember if this was one of the terrible roads, but some of them are almost undriveable unless you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Enjoy your hike! The views from Mt. Elbert are amazing.
Have you been to the highest points in any other states?
We have been to the high point in South Dakota and are planning to do the high point in Texas next week. I'm not sure if we have done any others.
Apparently Beaver Geography considers Mount Whitney to be the tallest peak in the Rockies for some reason.
I'm not sure what Beaver Geography said, but Mt. Whitney is in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, and Mt. Elbert is the highest point in the Rockies, according to the National Park Service and United States Geological Survey. Such a beautiful place wherever it is 🙂.
@@MissionAmerica I think it’s because Beaver Geography considers the Sierra Nevada to be a subrange of the Rockies.
