Wow the "Control lock hold 3 seconds" in small print on the dishwasher solved my issue! Fantastic!

For some reason this was the top video that came up when I searched. In my case somehow water had gotten in RIGHT behind the power button on the control board. There was just a small puddle of water that was shorting the circuit. My Whirlpool responded to this by flashing control board lights. I suppose I could have waited for it to evaporate on its own but since I didn't know what the problem was I disassembled the control panel, saw the water, and used a hairdryer to dry off both the plastic panel and the circuit board. It fired right up after I reassembled.

Thank you for posting. Good info, I lucked out this time. Mine had a red blinking symbol & wouldn’t start. Had to find my glasses & sure enough it was printed just below the button “control lock hold 3 seconds”. Simple solution.

THIS VIDEO DOESNT SHOW ALL THE STEPS AT ALL. YOU MUST REMOVE THE DISHWASHER AND UNPLUG THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS FOR THE HEATER COIL AND ITS THREADED AND YOU WILL NEED TO UNSCREW FROM UNDER WASHER. IT DOESNT JUST POP OFF. AND REQUIRES ALOT MORE WORK SHOW ALL THE STEPS NOT BIT AND PIECES.

🤣 the irony that they are showing an LG diswasher in the video is hilarious. My LG dishwasher brand new worked for about 8 different cycles, a defective control panel. Had the control panel replaced twice under warranty in less than a year. The trays show signs of rust at the joints. Never buy LG anything! Piece of junk! My Kenmore lasted 25 years, sadly too old for parts.

If you replaced your garbage disposal.
Make sure you punched out the hole

This isn't helpful at all. If a specific light is flashing, it will be indicated and I can look it up. How about if ALL the lights are flickering at random at the same time. That's what I was looking for.

Replying to my own comment. I opened the control panel, unplugged it, plugged it back in, and it's been fine ever since. I read on another video that the control board could be faulty *OR* the connections could have corroded a bit. My guess is that unplugging/plugging the wires scraped a bit of corrosion off of the pins and restored a more solid connection. If it happens again, I will repeat this process, but also spray on some contact cleaner before reconnecting things.

Stop building these garbage units in China and let's get back to making real equipment that last. Electronics is crap. manual is better where possible.
