Nikki, the whole room is enchanting! Painting the back of the hutch was the perfect solution to make the whole piece shine.
Your daughter's chinoiserie mural adds the perfect fairytale touch to the other side of the room. The whole look is reminding me of the 2015 Cinderella movie's depiction of Cinderella's childhood home.

The hutch looks so nice with the painted background. It really does make your Depression glass stand out more, while mitigating the yellow tone of the entire piece.

FYI - if you didn't want to paint the back of the cabinet, you can always cover some cardboard with batting and fabric. Just tape to the back of the cardboard. Make the fit just a little bit tight and it will just fit. Then you don't affect the original piece. Or do the same thing with painting something and poping in it there.

And white wash is such a great way to keep the authenticity of the wood but make it somehow more airy and light. We have so much whitewash at our home... I just love your style! I love the makeover! I had a green kitchen and dining room at my last house. Actually I had a darker green in the entry and living room as well. So it was a very green house 🤣 I think it’s a very soothing and comforting color. It goes so well with all things. You can make it look feminine or masculine. I loved Christmas with the green as it just made it really storybook like. Sparkling lights, beautiful tree. I can’t wait to see yours at Christmas.🩷💕

I'm always changing my spaces It takes time to get it right.
How do you keep the furniture in the living room stationary? I've tried a few things but ours, most especially my husband's recliner, seems to just scoot along, without a care. 😂 It winds up pressed against the wall, which isn't where I like it.
I love the big Mirror on the wall, such a statement piece! It really gives an airy grace to the space.

Nice! I would use that whole front room as a family room with multiple focal points and seating areas and that back room as my dedicated dinning room with a coffee corner/ writing desk area. But we have a large family. Love the mural!
If only the back room could fit a table for a large family. The back room is quite small. I don’t think the dining room table would fit in it with room to walk around it. When I had a little round table in there before, that was a real issue.

I have ADHD, and having too much in a room is overwhelming. I love what you did with the chairs. The wall painting is beautiful. The paint colors are very relaxing.

I have ADD too. I had to make my entire house white. Haha. All the walls and furniture are white including the soft furniture, but some of the furniture is a light brown. To decorate, my husband hung antique chandeliers, antique 🕯, antique chandelier table lights, and white statues and or busts. Oh, and a few white, French antique kitchen casserole pots. I forgot the name of these. But I understand having ADD and no clutter. It’s overwhelming. We have no art work on the walls. Just mirrors and French antique wall sconces.

My home color scheme is the colors of nature, blues, greens and browns, all in different tones.
Bright colors, yellow daisies, ( and dandelions), red roses, lilacs, etc, add a peaceful contrast.
No matter our color scheme, our homes should provide a sense of peace, safety and acceptance.

Oh my goodness, Nikki, everything looks fabulous! I had to laugh because in the first half of the video, the one thing I was thinking I would comment about is the buffet. I was going to suggest you wash it in a monochromatic look to match you favorite blue or an old world coral. Imagine my surprise when it was already done before the video ended! 😂 I am an interior designer in San Francisco ( please don’t judge me! 🤣) I just love you because you are so much like me in that I am passionate about the details of the home and color is paramount! Hello Nikki, Are you able to move all your furniture yourself? Wondering if you have any of it on sliders. Thanks.
Most of it I do and with laminate flooring there isn’t a need for sliders which is nice. We tried that once and it didn’t help make it any easier. My daughter helped me move the hutch though I’m able to move it by myself if it’s empty.
I’ve missed something! Where does your son sleep? 💞 Oh do I remember correctly, he moved into the little house?
He once did. I’ve shared the changes as they’ve come about but in various style videos. He’s now in what was originally the master bedroom which has a bathroom connected to it or “the blue room” from the French cottage series last year. My youngest 2 daughters are now sharing the pink room and my oldest daughter is in the green room. None of the kids were comfortable in the morning room/office/ever-changing room 🌹
