I am almost 70 years old and I have always worn dresses. In high school, when everyone was excited about wearing jeans and flannel shirts I was the one who wore dresses. People signed my yearbook "to the girl who wears dresses". This was back in the '70'sI am so happy to see the younger women coming to realize that femininity is a strength not something to shirk. Love your videos my dear Nikki.I moved to the State of Florida last year mind you it was during the month of Nov which is beautiful here the time of the year. Now I have been here for this summer and oh dear this is insane. I have heavy curtains in my living room and bedrooms and to be honest I keep them close until 6pm in the afternoon to keep the house cooler. Pray for your husband and all those people that 13:39 have no choice to work in such high temperatures we are having this summer.❤ I have two of your aprons and hoping to buy more. Thanks to you watching you through the years,I love dresses and skirts. Love feeling feminine and dressing like a lady.❤
As always, I really enjoyed this video Nikki! Thank you so much. We are about the same age and you inspired me to share my philosophy on aging and makeup. I think it's less about aging and more about the right colours. I think when we are younger, we tend to care more about trends in make up and looking dramatic whether the colours and the look suit us or not. In a way, we kind of "get away with it"....kind of....but the harsher colours still "wear us" so to speak. We have all seen young women wearing too much and too harsh make up and wished they would know that they don't need it. I think as we come more into our maturity, we figure out what actually looks right on us. I think it becomes more clear that the wrong colours age us. All that to say, it's not that we can't have beautiful make up anymore, but instead we realize what we thought was beautiful never served us in the first place. ( Don't mis understand me.....I always thought your make up was very natural and elegant:)
@@TheLadyoftheHouse Thank you Nikki! I think another way to say it is if we have our colours right and if we have been doing our make up to suit the shape of our faces and not current trends, then as we age, we shouldn't have to change it too much. That's just what I think anyway. Try to stay cool. It's very hot where I live too:)
Will you ever consider doing your planners as ringbound or the wire bound, not sure what’s it’s called. They are beautiful but I find I’m not a big fan of planners with a solid spine. 😊
Love this video! It’s so funny that you mentioned your make up and softening things a bit and I had the same feeling approaching 40 (a year ago). Just this morning I used a brown liner I have but don’t love, but just wanted a softer look. It looks amazing!
Hi Nikki that heat sounds shocking. What a pity about your roses. Hope your curtains make a difference. We have had a freezing winter here in Australia down South. Lady is so adorable follows you every where. Glad you had a week off, heat makes you feel tired. Thanks Nikki ❤❤
I’m in Florida and we have blackout curtains on every window and sliding door. The house is always dark in the summer time. I open the back sliding door curtains later in the day just because I like to see the sunset. This year is brutally hot
You look elegant even on a very hot day, I can't imagine 120d! Dark curtains are a great idea to filter out harsh sun. Where I live, it is middle of winter so am wearing completely different clothes. Thank you for your inspiring beautiful videos ❤
So relaxing and beautiful - as usual ❤ I agree when it comes to makeup color. It is so much more elegant with harmonious colors that are not too harsh. Your dress is lovely😊
Hi Nikki, I had asked awhile ago if you would consider a planner design with the spuce trees and matching pine cone diary. I hope that's still a possibility, but i just wanted to say I LOVE your new enchanted theme! It's so beautiful. I really like them all, but this new one speaks to my style more. Thank you! It's been hot and muggy where I live too, not quite in the 100 degrees but close. I hope you and your family find some relief from the heat and enjoy the kiddos when they're home. 🌹
@TheLadyoftheHouse Thank you so much for considering it. I'm grateful you already have a variety of planners and diaries. I plan on getting a lot of the ladies in my family some as gifts. ❤️
It's 105 here today...and the humidity is 80+%. There is no reason to get ready for the day, because with the humidity anything, even sunscreen, melts off within 2 or 3 minutes, even in shade. My husband works outside as well, and I don't see how he handles it! Ge does come home to change at lunch because his clothes get so wet they're too heavy to wear all day! You look beautiful, and I'm glad you took a break!
Nikki you might like French wrap around curtain rods or sometimes called French blackout rods. There is no finials on the end so they curve around so the curtain wraps around to the wall and no light gets through. They also come with double rods for the sheers in the back. I use them all over the house. Thanks for sharing this video ❤
I didn’t know that’s what they were called but I ordered some. Thank you! They are supposed to arrive today so next week all will be finished…finally 🌹
Glad you got some rest, good to see you back. You did look very pretty today love the dress. This has been a very hot summer for everyone. I feel so sorry for the ones that have to work out in it, also for the homeless and those with out air conditioning.
I literally came to write the same comment that somebody else wrote. I have been waiting for your video for quite some time and it’s just so nice to get to see you again Nikki. My husband does do construction and works outside for the most time … I totally understand how you feel … things are gonna get a lot better. Just keep on praying ✝️🥰♥️
I have been waiting for your video! I’m glad that you got to rest for a week though. The heat has been hot here in California too. The highest we’ve had was 115 degree, but 120 degree is so much hotter where you live. I am so happy to see you post this video Nikki. I’m enjoying it after cooking for my family while I rest.😊🌷💕Thank you!
Such a great idea to use the eyebrow pencil as a more muted eyeliner. I'm way older than you are, and this is such a good suggestion for me! Thank you.
I understand Nicki about your husband 😮 my husband worked outdoors too and it worried me. Wait for him with a cool drink when e comes home a nice cool salad and air conditioning. A relaxing massage wouldn't hurt😊 praying for your hubby to stay cool. I got a neck fan it helps😊
So glad to see your new video. I want you to know how I appreciate you and your bringing the fact that it’s a wonderful thing to be a woman and be feminine ❤ some people act as if it is a bad thing to show that side of us. I am in my 50’s now and really have always loved dresses and being the “traditional” woman/wife/mom. Thank you for letting us see that there are more out there that enjoy that way of life. I live in Ky and my roses as well as hydrangeas and other flowers are suffering as well, it is heart breaking 💔. God bless you and your family.
Hi! I’m a new subscriber, I think about a month or 2 months now. But I saw a couple of your videos and I told my self … wow what a beautiful garden or yard I wonder where she lives is so green definitely not here where I live. I also saw another video and you talked about how you like wearing dresses and these cute lil heels and I was like that is so elegant and nice I was like she making me wanna get dresses and dress up on the weekends .but I’m like is so hot here is just so comfy to just wear comfy clothing around the house plus I never go no where. Then I was watching this video n I saw your yard and I was like omg what happened and you said it’s been so hot where you live that you live in Las Vegas, I was like omg she lives here where I live. Anyways just wanna say you inspire me . I wanna wear dresses with cute lil heels n work on my yard.
I'm so glad you are back Nikki, as you have been missed. I always look forward to your videos. I even went back and looked at the music you played in your videos, and made a playlist for myself so that I could have you with me as I went about my daily tasks! I am incredibly happy that you are selling aprons again. I have tried to look at other sites to find aprons like yours, and nothing comes close to your beautiful fabrics and patterns. You can be sure I will place an order when you're ready. Blessings to you and your family this weekend!
My son is training at TwentyNine Palms, CA, and the 100°+ heat is so hard on my Michigan kid. He wanted to go to Norway! 😂 We always say we are part polar bear ❄️🐻❄
I can’t imagine that heat- we lived in West TX for 10 years & the heat was unbearable to me! I did find that the lined blackout curtains made a significant difference in reducing the heat in the house- the lining is the key. You might try them in another room. The dress you’re wearing is such a lovely color on you!
I use those curtain clip rings. Those are fantastic. I have a sheer curtain panel on my window. And I used beige painter drop cloth as an extra curtain to block out light and maintain privacy. Those curtain clip rings are awesome !!!!
Sorry, I’m late to this video! Though I appreciate that heat is exhausting, the cold is depressing! My husband and I feel really low at the moment (we live in New Zealand though we’re not from here). We’re staying in a different place this winter and it’s 53F sometimes in the middle of the day inside our house and our power bill has doubled since last year. This is a temporary glitch for us (we are genuinely fortunate) but I really feel for those that have always had to live like this whether it’s too hot or too cold.
I have had very good results treating my suddenly very very dry face, neck, and décolleté with caster oil mixed with coconut oil. Along with derma planing to take off any fine hairs and dead skin (1or 2 times a week). The caster oil and coconut oil mixture glides on my skin and plumps my fine lines. I also use sunscreen daily to prevent damage and because my fair skin burns quickly.
Hi Nikki, In spite of the tragic and obvious scorch damage your beautiful Garden sustained, we can at least be comforted in knowing that the plants will divert their energy from foliage to roots to ensure their survival and revival when cooler weather returns, and those cute little ants are clearing out the debris for you. I love the eyeliner idea. I am trying the Maybelline tattoo studio in deep brown to define my brows, but I stopped using eyeliner because my eyes are too sensitive for it, even the "clean" types. Since you asked, I would love to see a lavender/purple colored planner series in 2025!...purple Lilacs?...😍 All the best and stay cool.
Working outside in 120F sounds brutal. When my AC went out for a week it was muggy 90's and I ended up getting some blackout shades to put under the blinds besides getting a window unit. Darkening a room definitely helps but at 120 that's a tough battle. I hope it gets better for you guys. 🙏🏻💐 I like the soft eyeliner
I'm about your age as well and have always wore black mascara and winged eyeliner, I too recently had the same epiphany to switch to a lighter look, I was hesitant but it looks great. Currently I use the l'oreal telescopic mascara in the gold tube in shade "black-brown" its the lightest shade but its a beautiful color on my lashes and makes my green eyes pop. I use a neutral smoky brown color from the Elf mad anout matte pallet on my outer corner to extend my lashline and underneath center of my eye I blend a small amount of eyeshadow to create illusion of a bigger eye or a shadow if you will. 😊
I’ve been to Ross out of state, but unfortunately, they do not have any in my area of New York. They have such great things for the home and wardrobe. Always love your finds!
Oh my goodness, your poor garden! We've been at 103 (Oregon!) and my neighbor and I have been covering our shrubs with old sheets. I can't even imagine 120!
I’ll pray for relief from the heat. I sometimes would put a bowl of ice in front of a fan. That helped sometimes. I live in California and most places don’t have air conditioning because it’s not super hot in my area. But then when we do get a heatwave it’s yuck !!!! Praying for cooler temperatures for you and your family !!! I’m curious to hear how the curtains help !!!
Thank you! It’s been so much cooler though my daughter was saying how much she missed the beautiful light streaming in the windows. I open them in the morning when it’s not directly shining in.
Yes it's very hot in S. Texas as well (not as hot as Las Vegas!) and I do keep my home dark. I will be praying for your husband in this dangerous heat! Also, I'm 51 and I've been using eyeshadow as an eyeliner for years now. And I use L'Oreal Infallible concealer and I love it. It's full coverage.
In regard to the buttons on your dress. I agree. I don’t understand the concept of contrast. I, too, change the buttons. And we improve the look, don’t we? : ) Do you use an eye primer? I’ve just started using it. Here in Alabama, it really helps my eye make up from melting. I admit that I’m not spending too much time out of doors. It doesn’t take too long to feel overwhelmed out there. Black eyeliner can be carried off by very few. And as we grow and change , our makeup should , too. I love red lipstick, but my skin doesn’t carry it well now. I admit that it has to be a certain red, blue red or true red. They are hard to find. I smiled when you mentioned “appropriate “makeup for your daughter. Twiggy was popular when I was a preteen. I bought the eyeshadow paintbox and happily applied it. And a little lipstick. I no sooner walked downstairs than reversed, marched upstairs to the bathroom and washed it all off at my father’s strong urging. Looking back, pale blue eyeshadow wasn’t too flattering, anyway. LOL. Alas, sad news about your roses. But the silver lining is that you’re looking forward to their beauty in the autumn. : ) Take care.
I’m looking forward to your thoughts on the dress today with the buttons changed! Well said about our makeup as we grow. I also enjoyed your personal story, it made me laugh 🌹
We have a similar hair situation. When I was a little toddler, my hair was blond. As I got older it turned golden brown. And people have also mistaken my hair for looking red. Someone has also said, that my hair is dark blond. My dad went from blond as a baby/toddler to having black hair. But I like that hair color, it's rather unique.
Drugstore makeup is marketed towards teenagers and young adults, and the quality reflects that. When you’re young almost anything you put on your skin looks good. Where as Department store brands are marketed towards mothers and mature women. You might want to try more of those brands. Estée Lauder, Lancôme, Clinique, Guerlain, Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown. They are usually formulated better for mature skin.
Yes! 105 and the humidity combined here in the Carolinas is brutal! I've never felt dry heat, so not sure.of the difference, but I think I'd prefer dry heat!
Hello , I would like to share the best way to keep the heat out and the Electric bill down. I live in Texas, so I can relate. I purchased a window film called Gila. For all the windows. Please watch the video on UA-cam to help apply correctly. In addition, I used black out Curtains of your choice of color. I used White. My Electric bill is less than $100. a month. My home feels so much cooler. At your Hardware Store and they will match Wal-Mart prices. 🎉
I enjoy your videos sorry it’s so hot where you live I found some black out curtains at Walmart with rod pockets if you need anymore I don’t like the ones that have grommet either ❤
I love your new dress and color, I think when you live in a bigger city the Ross’s are bigger and have more variety. I found one dress at Ross this summer but that’s okay due to the very long winters here. 🙋🏻♀️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hello Nikki, I really like this dress you are wearing today! Going lighter and softer with makeup is definitely better on women 40 and over; staying in a rut definitely ages women. We’ve been taught that lighter colors reflect heat so I double checked on google. “Lighter colors that reflect light and heat can make a room feel cooler.” Did I misunderstand your perspective that darker would feel cooler? Room darkening drapes will make the room feel cooler if it blocks the sun/heat, if you do not prefer putting a cling wrap on your windows.
So appropriate and sweet for you to understand and appreciate what your man does for you and the fam ea day❤ Regarding eyeliner, please check out “fabulous 50s” eyeliner tutorial on UA-cam. I know she is older than you are but I have found her tips to be very very creative and helpful for those of us not in our 30s anymore! The tutorial is only 11 min. I hope it gives you some ideas of how to transition your eye makeup

Its hot here too, but not as hot as you..praying for cooler weather ❤. Praying for you husband as he works outside 🙏. Love and hugs and prayers ❤
Thanks so much!
Your dog, Lady, is too adorable! 🥰
👋 hellooo from cold rainy England 🇬🇧🌧 ☔️
Hello! Please send some over here 🌹
Yes it's very hot in S.
That’s good to know, I’ll look into that 🌹
In regard to the buttons on your dress. I agree.
I don’t understand the concept of contrast. I, too, change the buttons. And we improve the look, don’t we? : )
Do you use an eye primer?
Take care.
I’m looking forward to your thoughts on the dress today with the buttons changed! Well said about our makeup as we grow. I also enjoyed your personal story, it made me laugh 🌹
The new planner covers are lovely!
Thank you!
Me too!
Yes but not everyone can afford these brands. Just saying, don't mean to be rude.❤
I lived in Vegas for 4years it's not as bad as it sounds because it's dry heat and not humid, but yes it's hot😮🔥 😊
Yes! 105 and the humidity combined here in the Carolinas is brutal! I've never felt dry heat, so not sure.of the difference, but I think I'd prefer dry heat!
I know I prefer the dry heat. The humidity recently has made it worse than usual 🌹
This was very helpful, thank you!
21:13 looks pretty on you, the new eyeliner
I enjoy your videos sorry it’s so hot where you live I found some black out curtains at Walmart with rod pockets if you need anymore I don’t like the ones that have grommet either ❤
That’s good to know, thank you 🌹
Would be sweet to soft ruffle the added curtian botton piece.
I love your new dress and color, I think when you live in a bigger city the Ross’s are bigger and have more variety. I found one dress at Ross this summer but that’s okay due to the very long winters here. 🙋🏻♀️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
You’re right!
Yes 🌹
That furbaby is really growing up
She is!
So appropriate and sweet for you to understand and appreciate what your man does for you and the fam ea day❤
Regarding eyeliner, please check out “fabulous 50s” eyeliner tutorial on UA-cam. I know she is older than you are but I have found her tips to be very very creative and helpful for those of us not in our 30s anymore! The tutorial is only 11 min. I hope it gives you some ideas of how to transition your eye makeup
Thank you!
Love the dress, I love calvin klein and dkny dresses.
Thank you! They are very well constructed 🌹
What breed is your dog? So cute
She’s a mini poodle.
Your beautiful rose bushes look like they are getting fried in that 120 degree heat.
They certainly are but better days to come🌹
you have your curtains hanging upside down. Those rings go on the top.
Yes, that’s on purpose. I don’t like the rings and will be extending them soon. I made sure to write that on the video which you may have missed 🌹
@@TheLadyoftheHouse I did miss that, thank you for the reply.
120?! Ahhhh no thank you. Stay cool ❤
Is your daughter your seamstress 😊?
Yes!
