It kind of snuck up on me, but right at the end of this video I began to cry. It was seeing you and your lovely teenaged daughter working together to create such a beautiful home. She was helping you hang curtains and I was suddenly so forcefully reminded of such similar times with my mom. Unlike the common misconception that kids can't stand their parents at that age, I always loved my mom and had a very synchronized relationship with her. We loved working together. I suppose I cried for the times that are past and the preciousness of those memories. I still have my mom, hopefully for a long long time yet, but she can't do what she used to, and I have my own home now. That short time under the same roof is so special.
I love that you had that with your mother. I’m so happy when my children work alongside me and benefit from doing so 🌹
I respect you doing these jobs yourself. Many women refuse and pay someone. Where is the satisfaction in that? Congratulations you’re amazing Nikki

What a lovely comment from Larissa! There’s always grace. I’m SO glad you reminded us that projects take time. I tend to be harder on myself in making up my mind and that just stifles any joy. I just avoid the process and not enjoy it. It steals the finished project’s completion and the satisfaction of a job well done. So, thank you. Truly. It’s such a nice reminder. Hi Nikki, I live in an English Cottage built in 1810 so my windows are quite small; however having curtains at the window is not really successful, so I opted for vertical blinds in a lovely cream colour which helps to expand the daily light. l have the same style of curtains as you in a duck egg blue to match two of my easy chairs; the difference is that the curtains don’t draw completely across the window; there are just 8 Gromits per curtain and the curtain rails stop halfway across the wooden lintels so the cream blinds lighten up the sitting room in the evening plus the candles. 🕯️

It has been beautiful watching your children blossom. Nikki, I appreciate you speaking about the time it takes for projects. When you did your home renovation videos in 2018, I had just purchased home, it was lovely seeing your process. Lastly the sewing and painting projects turned out beautiful.

Worry not. I went ahead and made the corrections to my beautiful Bird planner. It's an easy fix. The Apothecary Cabinet is gorgeous and perfect for sewing notions for Ayla. Your home decor is coming together nicely. Honestly, I can't over how beautiful that Mural is with that beautiful green. A little Bird told me that you will be visiting a notion store soon to fill up the drawers😉. So much fun!. God bless ya'll.
Wonderful! Thank you, I took time to fill her drawers with all that she had. It’s amazing how many different things she needs for sewing and she was stuffing it all in 3 sewing boxes before, rummaging through it each time she needed something. It’s been a better solution for sure🌹

Touching up the baseboards, painting the windowsills, the top of the nightstands and dressing table, the apothecary, organizing the stuff in it, changing the curtains, picking tiebacks, getting new rods, new buttons on your green dress...that is a lot. All of the little tasks really add up time and energy wise as well as results wise. I think that can be easy for us to forget. Fitting what projects we can into our daily lives is good enough. Love how you're creating a lush cottage in a desert too. It is inspiring.

Love that green calvin klein dress.I have the same one only difference is that the one I have is sleeveless and came with green buttons from Macys I got that green sequia color and also the clay color.
Look into waxing the surface of your dressing table after the paint dries. It may prevent the dinginess.
The satin finish of the paint I used will prevent that in the future. The previous paint was chalk paint which I did use wax but I still had issues so this was the perfect fix 🌹
