- NISSAN X- TRAILREVIEW 2023
In this video, we're looking at the 2023 Nissan X-Trail E-power.
IS IT WORTH IT?
The X-Trail has been around since the early 2000's and is now in its fourth generation and was designed to be a family cross-over with off-road capabilities. This time we have the E-Power powertrain which offers a great solution for anyone not wanting to go full electric.
We give the 2023 X Trail e-power a full test drive and review to find out if its worth it.

IS IT WORTH IT? 👍
LET US KNOW! Comment below…👇 👇👇👇👇
I ordered mine straight after the test drive, tried a Volvo xc40 and VW ID5 but this blew me away. Rear seats recline as well as slide 👍🏻
I bought my 2WD N-Connecta purely for the smooth, single speed EV experience after being bitterly disappointed with the unpredictable DSG gearbox on my 2020 diesel VW Tiguan. I wasn't expecting too much in the way of economy after reading reviews on the mainly AWD xtrail, but was pleasantly surprised that it is proving to be better than the long term average of 48mpg that I was finally getting from the Tiguan when it had over 20k miles under it's belt. I have now done over a 1000 miles on the xtrail and it has averaged over 50mpg during that period, albeit with not a lot of long, high speed motorway runs. Very pleased so far.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Glad to hear this as MPG for the e-power x trail has been one of its most controversial points. This comment really will help a lot.
👍
the Tiguan is a great car, but the Xtrail is 2wd is great as well.
Would you still recommend it after 8 months? Any weak points? I`m just considering exactly 2WD.
@@ankor1979 I've now done nearly 8000 miles and the long term mpg is still averaging just over 50mpg. However, this is mainly down to the type driving that I do, so probably wouldn't be representative for everybody. If you do lots of motorway driving, the mpg will go down to low to mid 40s. This is because you're not doing much regen, if fact you don't any if you put the drive into eco mode as it will effectively freewheel when you lift off the gas. Gradients is another killer for the mpg figures. Overall, I'm still very pleased with the car, the smoothness of the electric drive is very addictive, as is the acceleration if you put your foot down, but again this kills the mpg figures if you do it too often. So far it's been totally reliable, there's nothing really not to like about it.
What about noise level, especially on the motorways? Some tests are saying it`s pretty noisy! @@servodyne
Has to be 4x4 for an X trail 👍
I have a 2wd on order here in France. Don't expect to do any driving that requires 4wd so made sense to save some money on the purchase price. As I've seen mentioned here and elsewhere it is the quality of the driving experience with the e-power, and Nissan has definitely made huge improvements to the interior quality of the car. Looking forward to beating the official mpg - I back myself to do it :-) . I did find your video weird as the pics when driving were reversed so you seemed to be driving a left hand drive version.
Thanks Brian for watching and great comments, when filming I’ve used the front facing camera to help gage the view. Will sort for next shoot 👍
Thanks for sharing! how has the fuel economy been with the fwd version? We also loved the driving experience. Far better than our toyota.
Overall (at 11,476 km last fill) I have averaged 5.79 litres per 100 km, or 48.8mpg. Nissan quotes 6.1 litres / 100 km so I am beating it so far. Worst was a couple of long motorway trips fully loaded with 3 adults, 2 young children and luggage which took the consumption to 6.43 litres / 100km. Best tankful so far has been 5.35 litres / 100 km. Still delighted with the driving experience. All the best, B.@@metoo3773
just back rom a dealer in the uk, i test drove this exact model and the dealership said a spare tyre was standard
We could not find a spare and wondered where this would of gone?
Love it
I hope the software works better in the X-trail? The 22 plate Qashqai we have is very slow.
Can you get it updated over the air?
No point calling it X-Trail with only 2wd. Lovely car though Epower for me.
I would go all wheel drive what’s the point in a 2 with an off raider
Fair point but the AWD eforce uses more power on the battery and is more for ride comfort and stability.
What’s the price difference?
@@stizzygrayson5541 Great question and thanks for watching, this depends on the trim
and what seater setup you go for but the 5 seater Tekna epower with eforce AWD is around £2200 extra.
Base model 33k tekna 4wd 47k
2wd in combination with the ~21cm ground clearance is good enough for medium offroad driving, only mud, snow and huge slope could be a problem
Thanks for watching and commenting. I’ve seen some videos of it off roading even in snowy conditions and seems to be quite capable. 👍
@@ISITWORTHITUK the 2WD?
@@herrlich7671 All videos I’ve seen are all eforce AWD to be fair. So yes 2WD would be not be as capable, I should of made that clear. 👍
Actually the hybrid version comes with a 19 cm ground clearance, it s the petrol version that has 21 cm.
What’s that colour called?
Storm white it has an pearlescent effect as well 👍
Where is this manufactured ?
Yokohama plantation in Japan 🇯🇵
@@ISITWORTHITUK tq
Sunderland
@@nirmaljose8119 That’s what we thought at first but it’s been confirmed the X-trails aren’t manufactured in Sunderland.
Nice review just don’t drive with your fingers 😮
Thanks for your support
Seems I am being converted from Toyota 😊
Great car but not reliable 5k brokedown 5weeks to repair poor sheffield dealership back to diesel kodiaq next time
Did you go e-power?
Not worth it. Hybrid set up is too complicated, unproven, more likely to have problems. Engine also has no reliabilty track record. And chews too much petrol, premium petrol, expensive petrol. No plug in. Battery is too small. Easily run down with sustained hard driving, leaving the petrol engine to provide power. So rated 157kw disappears, and replaced by about 100kw from engine. It's not a hybrid. It's a petrol car. What were Nissan thinking.?
My wife is awaiting delivery this month of the Ti with 2500 petrol engine. Tried and proven. We presently each have Xtrails with the 2500 engine, which are 10 years old. Neither have missed a beat. Totally reliable. And the "hybrid " has no spare. No thanks.
Thanks for watching and commenting. The e4orce would be needed for extra power roughly 213 bhp combined. Nissan were looking to bridge the gap with the full electric and petrol. It’s the way things are going at the moment and yes reliability is something we can’t comment on right now. 👍 The 2.5 litre TI is that an Auz trim?
@@ISITWORTHITUK yes, we're in Australia.
Way too expensive for the epower. Mpg is bad for a hybrid
The MPG is simple to a standard mild hybrid but we feel the extra would be worth for the smoother ride and experience overall.
Why do you feel the need to run your sweaty palms all over it, sorry OCD kicking in.
Don't be fooled this is a full polluting petrol car.
Thanks for watching and commenting, Yes absolutely this is still a petrol Hybrid. I feel Nissan were looking to bridge the Gap between going fully electric or opting for a plug-in hybrid. The way it drives is where many will notice the difference compared to a standard hybrid CVT. Rather than total MPG and Zero pollution, this is more to do with the smoothness of the ride. This overall would be more environmentally friendly than a standard diesel but as the petrol engine is super efficient but even though it powers the motors you are right it would still pollute nonetheless.
I have a question, whats the waiting list time for say the Eforce All Wheel Drive?
Thanks for the comment. I wouldn’t have this information your best speaking to the dealership.
Approx 3-4 months at present coz they’re made in Japan, about 4 weeks with a qashqai made here
