Thanks jack, I’d say it’s worth it when you compare what you get with what you would have to pay extra for the equivalent German variant especially being as many of the German equivalents have engaged in some cost cutting manufacturing processes in China while still charging their German prices.
I've had my Qashqai N-Connecta for 4 months now and absolutely love it. My last car was a BMW 5 Series Tourer and the build quality is even better in the Qashqai. I wouldn't bother going to the expense of having the Tekna spec., the N-Connecta has everything you will ever need. The ride in the e-Power is sublime, because the electric motor only drives the car it's very quiet, so much so that you have to whisper to each other when compared to driving a petrol or diesel car, the petrol motor just acts like a generator and charges the battery. In Eco and Standard drive mode it has 150bhp, but when you put it in Sport it goes up to 190bhp, but of course that effects the mpg. I think the safety features also come as standard, there's a blind spot indicator and a few times it has warned me of pedestrians stepping on to the road. It also has front, rear, passenger side and simulated overhead cameras. My daughters also love it as there are four charging points, 2 in the front and 2 in the back, there is loads of space for them in the back, the doors also open an incredible 85 degrees, so it's easy to get in and out, even for my 87 year old mother. The boot size is good, with an extra hidden shelf below the main boot, I've also managed to get a mountain bike and scooter in the boot with the 60/40 split and 1 child in the back as well. The info/entertainment display is huge and very responsive, haven't really used Apple Car Play much as Nissans' own SatNav, etc. is really good. I also love the digital display and you can personalise it to show a variety of different things from energy consumption, to radar guided cruise control, to Sat Nav commands, etc. Now the negative stuff, the petrol motor just acts like a generator and charges the battery, however you can hear the petrol engine and fan kicking in every so often and it's quite loud because you are used to the virtual silence of the electric motor. The ride is relaxing as its so easy to drive, but you can't really chuck it about as the handling isn't great, at the end of the day it's a family car not a sports car/hot hatch. It has regenerative brakes which are a bit jerky and harsh at times, so you need to get used to those. Finally the mpg range of the ePower is nowhere near what they claim. If you drive like a nun in full Eco mode with the regen brakes on and you accelerate very slowly you might get close to 55-60 mpg, but most of the time I get about 40-45mpg (urban), which is still great. I test drove the Peugeot 3008 (weird little steering wheel), Audi Q3 (too small), Citroen C4 and C5, Vauxhall Grandland, Ford Puma and the Nissan Qashqai was easily the best, that's why it's the No.1 best seller.
Thanks watching and a great comment, really gives us all a better insight into ownership. Have you tried the e-pedal for the regenerative braking- you can customise how harsh or slack you want the brakes to kick in? That sometimes makes a difference as the standard regen is quite harsh.
@@ISITWORTHITUKactually the brakes are not involved in Regen, it's the electric motor that has the braking or pseudo braking. Something in the electric motor.that.bfakes the motor system that returns power into the bty.
Epower Tekna should be everyone's default Qashqai choice. Strong acceleration power; economy wise we're getting 48mpg after 2000 winter miles with regular 20-50 mile trips in Sport and normal mode (eco mode doesn't make any difference apart from less responsiveness). Adaptive lights are responsive and bright. Interior cabin is the equal to current gen Merc A Class we swapped from, albeit the infotainment is more Japanese than German. Heads-up display is great. You won't be without it once you've had it. Get £4k off list (£120 pm roughly) if you go through broker. Quiet drive and engine noise only slightly intrusive under hard acceleration, depending on your expectations. 0-60 closer to 7.1 seconds in real-world testing. Addictive forward and side visibility plus 360-degree cameras, albeit not highest resolution in the world, nor protected from the elements as they get dirty in rain with no wash feature. EV-only mode works under light load for half a mile to a mile, before engine kicks in but quickly charges and drives like an EV. Great family wagon and stronger residuals make very competitive PCP (based on 4 years, rather than 3-3.5 years with Korean brands). Bypass the VW Tiguan et Al, and the Kia Sportage et Al but consider the Kuga plug in St line X in the mix and check out the MG HS plug in rival. Nearest premium rival is a Merc GLA but the Nissan is a better drive, better standard kit as well as kit not available on most GLAs such as the HUD. No sunroof option sadly but the panoramic roof is nice and has electronic cover for strong sunny days.
I've had a Tekna spec since December 2022. For me it is worth the cost, the technology included in the Tekna spec is exceptional, plenty of room inside for a family and the boot is plenty big enough. I've had 5 series BMW and Infinity Q70, Q50 and Q60 in the past, and this car is ahead of all these. I came to the Qashqai from a 2021 Peugeot 2008, and my running costs have halved for similar millage.
I’ve owned an E- Power since beginning of October 2022 & in my opinion it is far better than the 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid I’ve owned in the past the CVT box on the RAV4 is painful to put it mildly where as the epower feels quite refined.
HI Jam, Thanks for watching and commenting. We agree the E-power is far more smoother to drive and listen to compared to the CVT. Toyota need to take note which is striking really considering how advanced and far in the game they are compared to others in terms of hybrid technology. We are interested to know what Mpg you get roughly with the e-power?
@@ISITWORTHITUK it really does depend on what mode setting you drive in, I tend to set mine to Epedal, eco mode & B mode on gear selector I regularly get over 50mpg but hills & a heavy right foot will get you in the high 30’s at best.
@chs1961 If you forget about the E-pedal from anything above 35mph and use D+Eco, you should easily manage over 62mpg. We've had our Qashqai e-Power for nearly a year and regularly achieve over 62mpg. Using the E-pedal exclusively will increase your fuel consumption.
I test drove exactly the same car as in this review. It drives great. I think the main great rhing about the new epower Quashqai is how SMOOOOOTH it is when it comes to acceleration and braking. Both acceleration and breaking is linear, I mean absolutely linear through entire pedals range. It feels so good. Soundproofing is also not bad. Not class leading but not bad either. And the suspension is, as you rhis review says, spot on - not too loose, not too firm. Driving over speedbumps is probably one of the best I've seen. Interior: excellent bright and vibrant large infortainment screen and responsive interface. The car feels like a car from 2024. Cockpit is smart. There's enough space around you. I loved the tilted panel with window buttons, the speedometer screen and the steering wheel. I miss memory for two drivers (I think its available in Tekna+?), heating for back seats and electric adjustable passenger seat. I also didnt like a central mirror which obstructs view when I first sat inside, but durung test drive I didnt have any problems with that. I also found back seats positioned a bit too low. I wish they were a bit higher. And a boot could've been a bit bigger. But all for all, i think it's ePower that makes this car so fun to drive. If you're thinking if you should go for 1.3 petrol or ePower, I would definitely go for ePower.
of course it's smooth and quiet it's got electric drive , of course it pollutes and is noisy ,uses lots of petrol and needs servicing it's uses petrol.
Drove one as a hire vehicle in France last summer - loved it. Very comfortable, quiet, impressive petrol consumption. A nice car. We currently have a 10 plate petrol which we have enjoyed since purchasing as 18 month second hand. It will be replaced in not too distant future with the E- power.
I think the ONLY downside is absence of 4wd in Quashqai epower. But some may say look at xtrail for epower + 4wd. I will definitely check pros and cons of both.
Thanks for commenting and yes it would be ideal the Qashqai to have this and we are hoping to have the X-Trail on the channel in the future. Stay tuned 👍
We managed 734 miles on a tank. Mixed driving. Regularly get 650 miles to a tank. We're not city dwellers. Our nearest town is 6 miles from our village. Rural roads with occasional town/city driving. Our average mpg is currently 62mpg. Occasional long runs, mixed roads including motorway. It's all about using the correct driving mode for any given situation. E-pedal is exclusively town driving up to around 35mph. Rest of the time predominantly D+Eco. Occasionally, D+Standard rarely D+Sport. B mode when needed on downhill sections when it's advantages. I'm very happy with the car.
Had the Tekna epower sine February and very happy with my purchase. I wanted an SUV that provided MPG like a diesel but was not a diesel (if that makes sense!) and that’s pretty much what this provides. My last car was a diesel Renault Kadjar and this is so much better. I do a mix of driving - motorway and country roads and MPG average is 48. Bearing in mind that it is actually quite a big car I think that MPG is great. The HUD is great and I agree with other comments that once you have driven a car with HUD you will not want to go back. My only quibble is that it does not have a warning light for low windscreen washer fluid which is annoying.
Thanks for commenting and watching. Glad you are happy with the car and that is annoying I agree with the washer fluid such a simple thing to fix from Nissans part as well.
My wife and I are now on our 4th Qashqai, we started in 2007 with a 1.5 diesel visia model we then had the 2013 1.5 diesel 360, the 2016 1.5 diesel Tekna, and now a 2020 1.3 160hp petrol Tekna plus. The worse one we had was the 360, for some reason there was a noticeable power loss even though it was the same 110hp as the visia and Tekna models. In between our current qashqai and our previous Qashqai, we owned a 2020 merc gla amg line. Which we owned it for 8 weeks before trading it in for our current Qashqai, the driving experience and equipment didn't match what we had with the Qashqai, I think once you own one, you'll never want to own another brand, you get a lot of kit for the money, I can't believe how powerful this little 1.3 pushes out, and it does it effortlessly. Unlike most small powertrains it's really quiet and we are getting 42.5-44mpg which is amazing considering we live in Cornwall UK and it's all hills. Definitely will be getting another one when there's more choice and prices settle once the backlog is all caught up and the whole situation that's going on currently stops
Bought a new Tekna in 2008 and is simply the best car I have ever owned. Still have it too with 55k miles on it. Now need to change it but I don’t want to but being disabled, I am finding it a little more difficult to get in and out. Just need a couple of inches higher and longer to accommodate my inflexible spine, rear passengers and my mobility scooter. I LOVE this car
@@ISITWORTHITUK Where to start? It looks great, it drives superbly, has the perfect level of comfort, never been any bother and never broken down. The drivers view is spot on and honestly, it’s so easy to drive. Ooh, and the CVT is simply the best box I have EVER driven and I’ve driven more than I can think about as I used to be a senior technician before becoming a teaching technician then diagnosis tech. From there I was promoted to parts manager then headhunted to be service manager and warranty administration manage. So you see, I have had plenty of knowledge and experience to know a great car when I see one. I was also invited to be a vehicle comparison tester, weighing up the pros & cons of various cars. I love my Qashqai. That’s why I have kept it for 15 years LOVE IT Negatives are:- could do with being just a wee bit taller from the seat squab to the roofline, the rear doors could do with opening to 90 degrees and another couple of inches for the rear passengers is needed. Yes, I know the door opening has widened now and finally, another couple of inches length in the boot would be ideal. Apart from that, I don’t know if I mentioned it before but I love this car and don’t want to replace it but I have to😭. And I would like to have a Hybrid, but not a plug in one.
I owned a brand new Qashqai 2.0L from 2016-2021. It was cool initially with the full glass roof & 19inch rims. But the tyre noise & comfort was bad. CVT gear box couldn’t decide which gear to shift to when I tried to accelerate hard & engine made a loud screaming noise. Suspension was bouncy. Hopefully the new E-power has improved.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Please keep us posted on your thoughts between the standard CVT and e-power, there should be a huge difference in smoothness.
I have to say Nissan have really set themselves great for the transition to full evs in the future with this e powers, and their interior and exterior design are good . The note 2023 exceeded my expectations
Had my E-Pawer since the end of November. 6 weeks from ordering it to it being on my drive. Which in todays new car market is pretty impressive. I have to admit that I really wanted the Ariya but couldn’t justify the extra 10 grand. I got a deal on the price and managed to get the Tekna spec for the same price as the lower spec (which was nice). Love the car and how it drives however I can’t help but be a little disappointed with the MPG. It’s just You can get some modern petrol engine cars that can achieve much better MPG than the E-Power. So I wonder what’s the point. Don’t get me wrong I love the car and all the tec. Its great to drive and it becomes an obsession to try and regen as much as possible. I don’t regret buying it but Im also not kidding myself suggesting Im a eco warrior. It is more efficient than the ford Kuga it replaced but its still burning fossil fuel. If the Ariya was 6 grand cheaper I would have gone for that.
Thanks for watching and what a great comment Owen. Yes we agree this is why we wanted to open up the comments to allow people to decide whether it’s worth it? Our view is yes from a hybrid point of view and a technological stand point it’s impressive and more enjoyable to drive and smoother than a standard CVT hybrid. However the MPG is the same If not worse than a good diesel or Petrol car? If anyone is in the market purely for MPG then maybe this doesn’t tick the box and road tax isn’t that much cheaper either. It’s a great stepping stone for a new car with new tech for many who don’t want to go full electric as these cars are way more expensive and with more limitations. We think you have made the right choice 👍
I was going to get it, then decided on the aryia, and I am happy I did. Epower is great it slows the car down when your foot is off the pedal, so you don't need ro break. When not using Epower the car keeps moving as if there are no brakes. There is no point buy gas cars as the system is phasing them out. And nobody will buy if from you in 5 years.
The X trail epower in 4x4 spec is strong. Not as economical as the Q, but has great traction with individual motors for the rear, like the Rav hybrid4x4 has; slightly more commanding driving position and great space for 5. Avoid the 7 seat, it's not spacious enough for teenagers in the 3rd row compared to a more expensive Kia Sorento and costs a grand you won't get back let alone get practical value from. You get an opening panoramic sunroof on Tekna spec X trails. 🎉
@@tcecoleshaw Thanks for the insightful comments sounds like you have made your mind up with the Q. We are hoping to have the X-trail on the channel soon.
It may not be massively important to you? But what MPG do you get roughly on yours at the moment? Your realistically only getting 42-45 on the E-power.
Hi just seen video great info have Peugeot 3008 at moment gt line premium pleased with it but greatly think Peugeot have gone spiraling in new hybrid less models and like bmw tech is extra so ordered new power Tekna for march reg really looking forward to it spec is brilliant 👌
4 min in and I’d disagree with the term “mild hybrid” this is definitely in the Full hybrid category as mild is is the term reserved for those vehicles that can’t do any EV driving at all. I have a spinal injury and I test drove this just the other day and found it to be very comfortable and smooth. Tech wise the Tekna is well equipped missing out on things like memory seat and auto dip passenger mirror when reversing which I think should be a standard fit these days, well it’s definitely more use than lane departure warning. I did find the steering a tad too light but definitely well powered too.
Thanks for watching and great comments Wesley. I can see how it could be seen as a full hybrid however this is used as a term for full plug-in hybrid so a non plug-in full hybrid would definitely be a good way of putting it. A lot of people say well it’s a full EV and other say well it can’t be as it still emits fumes. So either way they are all right but yes I believe it is more a full hybrid as you have full electric range. The trims are decent but seem to miss basics as you mentioned but on the whole we are pleased with the Qashqai. A-lot of people are asking for 4wheel drive but that would compete with the X-trail.
@@ISITWORTHITUK the qashqi e power would likely fall more into the self charging hybrid category then, I think,, it is available with E 4orce in the E power so already competes with the X trail which also has the option for the E 4orce 4WD system too.
@@WEZ4136 I don’t believe Nissan do the e-power Qasqai with e4force as they only seem to have 2WD. They do the Qasqhai 4wheel drive variant but not as big ground clearance as an X-trail and doesn’t have e-power.
"Mild" hybrid is 48Volt system (some even are even 12V). This is a long way from that but also a different concept to other hybrids. It is like a "gateway drug", to get people addicted to EV driving style but powered by fossil fuels to make it practical.
I like also the X trail e power cause can have in 4X4 The big difference is the fuel consumption, x trail is 9 lit per 100 but qashqai epower is 7.5 lit per 100. Is there qashqai epower 4X4 ?
Hopefully the e-power X-Trail will be coming on the channel soon.. we are working in the background for this to happen. All the subs and comments really help us with being able to do this 👍
The edit at the start is wrong. It says "it uses the petrol engine as a power plant, essentially, which drives the front wheels". The bit about it charging the battery has been cut!
Hi Brian, yes thanks for pointing this out, we wanted to give a brief insight before delving into the full explanation later on. Hope you enjoyed the review.
I think it’s let down by its poor MPG, which is not good for a Hybrid. After all, people buy Hybrids to save on fuel. The cost between normal Qashqai and E-Power is extra thousands, which you won’t recoup with fuel economy!
@@ISITWORTHITUK No, considering Honda Jazz Hybrid; a mini-crossover style car, which I seems to be the rage now, with superb fuel economy. Currently I have the 2nd gen Qashqai Auto.
Oh no we don't! We like the EV driving experience and don't want the hassle of the crappy charging network. It's great to be able to do a quick run to the shops on battery only.
I'm happy with 62mpg for a car this size. Efficient use of the available drive modes easily rewards you with a decent mpg. I think most people who complain about their fuel consumption tend to drive in E-pedal or simply have a heavy right foot!
If the petrol engine is 'just' a battery generator, why is it turbo charged? It's not connected to the driven wheels, adds no assistance to them so why the need for the extra performance delivered by a turbo? I don't get it.
Transfer your music CDs onto a USB stick using your laptop, then pop it into the USB slot in the car I have over 100 CDs on mine and you go into the menu on the infotainment screen and either choose what to play or leave it to random like a huge Jukebox, it's straightforward to do once you get the hang of it.
Ok I'm new to this. If the engine stops working that means no electricity no electricity means no power. Would it not be better to get a plug in hybrid that way if the engine does not work you can plug in and charge. If there is no electricity you can use the engine. You get the best of both worlds.
Great question- In theory I see what you’re saying but it happens so quick it doesn’t make a fair comparison as the engine is used solely as the generator so hardly stops it’s always working in the background at lower revs but when you accelerate it kicks in more prominent to give more power to the motors. So the engine doesn’t really stop in theory it’s just used less or more when needed.
Hi thanks for watching and great question. If it’s easy to swap and won’t end up with fees or costing a lot we would agree with swapping for the smoother ride and bigger touchscreen. There is a difference in price between the e-power model which would cost more. However that’s about where the advantages end as mpg is pretty much the same and we couldn’t justify the swap on this alone. Hope this helps 👍
Thanks for that , it certainly does help, the qashqai Teckna we have is automatic so it is smooth if the e power engine is no more economical we will keep what we have.
@@thebestcousineverchanel7105 Good choice, I mean it is disappointing as we were expecting more of a difference in terms of MPG with the e-power but for now since you already have a Qashqai we don’t think your missing much.
@thebestcousineverchanel7105 The 1.3 Qashqai hybrid has the CVT gearbox. If you think that's smooth, you should try the e-power. Yes I would say if you are in a position to upgrade it would be worth it. Reports of poor mpg on the e-power are down to the drivers. I regularly get over 62mpg. Effective use of the available drive modes reward intelligent driving. Only use the E-pedal up to about 35mph. The most economic mode to use is D+Eco. Your right foot plays a big part in your fuel consumption. I'm not a speed demon but I'm not a Sunday driver either.
what I don't understand is some of the negative video views on the e power car I have drove this model in my perfected trim Tekna and I though it was brilliant , ok you might get 50 mpg although depends on who's driving it .I have one question does the VED tax increase after the 1st year?
Hi Steve thanks for watching and commenting. We were generally impressed with the epower, it’s the fastest Qashqai to-date, the tech onboard and interior is great except from not having android auto as standard. The ride was smooth and enjoyable and It’s definitely a great option if you don’t want to go full electric. The mpg isn’t that ground breaking and for this there is an increased cost that some may not feel is worth it. We can’t say for certain but there maybe a possible increase in the future , this depends on how the car is taxed ie through a company and wether the government budget increases each year. If it does increase it’s probably marginal as the co2 is lower than standard ICE.
@@ISITWORTHITUK as i am retired i don't have to think about car tax now. My only reserve is whats it like on the motorway cruising is there a lot of wind noise. many thanks for the reply
@ivanakazensky989 Wee tip, use the E-pedal in town up to 35mph. Open roads D+Eco. Lift and coast when conditions allow, you'll be surprised how far the car will go without losing speed. Clever use of the drive modes really improves the mpg figures. Initially we were getting 48mpg. Now we regularly get 62mpg.
You could argue that the Qashqai ePower is an EV. It's driven by a pure electric power train, with no mechanical linkage to the engine. The engine only serves as a generator for electrical energy. The only difference between an EV and ePower is that the EV fills it's battery from the power grid, via a socket. How that power is generated is irrelevant, as it could be fossil fuel or renewable. The ePower generates it's electric on board via a portable petrol generator. Otherwise, they are both driven by electric motors and nothing else.
It differs significantly from a series plug in range extender car like the BMW i3 because the battery is a lot smaller and can't be plugged in. I'd say its an improved hybrid car not an EV.
@@youbencowell But it's not a hybrid either. The ePower drive train is just 2 electrical motors, and nothing else. The same as an EV. A hybrid has both an electrical and a mechanical power train. The only difference, like I said is the generation of electrical energy for both. One is using a portable onboard generator with fuel. The other uses the national grid, which still needs to generate electricity.
Thanks for watching Davie. Yes all Qashqai’s are built at the Sunderland plant. I probably didn’t make it clear I was referencing about the development of the first Gen (J10) which was designed in London but was engineered at the time by Nissan's European Technical Centre.
The title of this video is "Is it worth it?" How can we tell that if you don't tell us the price? I drive a petrol Qashqai now and am very happy with it. I want to renew but I don't believe there is the infrastructure in place at the moment to give me stress-free driving. They are already talking about power-cuts this winter and if everybody switched to an electric car tomorrow there would not be enough electricity to power our homes and businesses. I think that if you had a hybrid you are doubling the weight, and therefore the mpg, because you are carrying around two engines. However, this does look different. Of course lithium batteries are made by sprinkling on fairy-dust and not mined by abused children in the Congo and of course not a fossil fuel at all. Yeah right! I know that manufacturers are going to be fined £15,000 for every pure petrol car they supply. No wonder there are no adverts on television for petrol driven cars. Are Nissan still making petrol cars?
Hey Ian thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate the feedback also as the channel started as a way to gage every viewers take on each car and discuss the likes and dislikes or what they think is or isn’t worth it. I wanted to educate and entertain viewers so they didn’t focus solely on the price. After everything you mentioned with wanting to change, I think the Qashqai e-power would not be worth opting for solely for MPG. We’ve just reviewed the new Nissan Juke hybrid which will be on the channel soon. So stay tuned to see what your thoughts are on that one as you can drive it up to 80% in electric. Nissan do a 1.0 litre petrol Juke and the new Nissan Z but that’s not for the uk. I’m guessing the Juke would be too small?
You don't have to charge this car that is the whole point of it, why would you worry about the infrastructure? it's self-charging. and this car is more economical than the standard Qashqai despite being more powerful a win-win.
EV not suitable for my work, this MIGHT be the solution to better running costs...BUT, consider all your cordless power tools, battery life /degradation is an issue...and Nissan have refused to address battery issues once guarantee expires....
Great comment and Nissan guarantee the battery for 7 years on full electric like the ariya however I think this is standard. I’ve been looking at the Toyota BZ4X and they have a 10 year warranty if services through a main Toyota dealer. Worth looking at but we haven’t been able to get it on the channel but of course this is full electric. I’m with the Nissan dealer next week so I maybe able to ask for you? Where are you based?
@@ISITWORTHITUK Taxi based in Dublin. Nissan refused to honour battery warranty on a LEAF as it had 'expired'...also, Hyundai refused to give 5 year warranty because it was a taxi.,but give a 5 year warranty on the Tucson van 😡😡.....bet the Chinese will give a full warranty..😎😎
@@ISITWORTHITUK 2019 Tucson 1.6 GDi....gutless but so easy to work on the engine without all the turbo stuff around. Last car was a 2011 Insignia...6k in repairs in 1 year, some caused by main dealer botched jobs...but taking them to court would waste MORE of my time/money...🤬
Great video - professional and informative - just one thing made me cringe - your casual driving style! How can you say you’re in control of a car when steering it with just three fingertips of one hand touching the steering wheel? Sorry, can’t deny you’ve done a great job here, but that’s not a good example to be setting people.
At 24 seconds you confuse things by staying that the power plant (ICE) drives the front wheels. This is not the case. You also use unhelpful language that does not differentiate between the engine (ICE) and engine (electric).

Thanks for the comment and watching Mick, great insight into the x-trail which now has e-power. For what your after it would be good if the e-power idle charging feature could be turned off as it can be quite annoying at times. If not I would just stick to the normal mild hybrid as it’s start and stop. It depends what will sway it for you maybe an extra protective paint coating done at another garage?
It's a good car but fuel economy forthe epower is not very good. I spected one in top of the range and it was over £54K . That's a heck of a lot of money. The hybrid equivalent is half that price. There are many great cars out there for over £50K. I'd quite like one but that cost made me pause. I pay cash, not really a fan of pcp or leasing. Maybe I'm a dinosaur.
So many people complain about the fuel consumption! I regularly get over 62 mpg. I'm no speed merchant, granted! But I'm no Sunday driver either. D+Eco, lift and coast when conditions allow. It doesn't lose a lot of speed. Only use the E-pedal up to about 35mph. Above that in free flowing traffic, you will find D+Eco will return decent mpg. Effective use of the drive modes will improve your mpg.
@pillred5974 Think of the B setting as a milder version of the E-pedal. The E-pedal and B mode are best suited to driving in town, anything up to around 30mph. B mode is also suitable for use on a steep downhill section. Always keep in mind the overall speed. Braking also provides regeneration. The harder you apply the brakes, the greater the regeneration. I often go from D + Eco to D + Standard on long downhill sections of road to gain regeneration without losing excessive speed. Really, it is a personal choice. Experiment with the options to find what works for you. 60 mpg is easily achieved.
Thank you very much, I pick mine up next week I have read a few online reviews since opting to buy one and have seen and heard mostly negative comments on its economy yet you seem to get really good figures. I was interested to know why the difference between you and them I will try all your tips and hope to do as well as you lol.@@Raw-Coffee-Bean
To me it is no worth investing.I got a Qashqai 2018 diesel .I don’t work any more .The cars that I have had is used to go to work and holiday .It would be madness to invest in a brand new car with limited use that I have.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes there would be no need and the diesel would probably give the same if not more mpg. It’s more for anyone looking to switch to electric but don’t want the hassle of charging at stations. 👍
Be awesome if they did but it’s to do with the transmission with the epower it’s a singular speed automatic so you wouldn’t be able to change gears as there are none.👍
Maybe best selling Uk SUV because those that get DLA OR PIP get them free- the rest of us have to buy them so sales get a boost. Second hand value is affected because of this. I have driven the empower x trail and best I could get was 39.6 mpg. Soft plastics have no real soft depth to doors and dash ? Some cheap hard plastics. A measly 3 year warranty 60 k miles and this new tech. - just how reliable is this car long term?
Thanks for watching Ron and great question. There isn’t much in terms of the e-power reliability being an issue however that doesn’t mean there won’t be in the future so we can’t give a definite on that I’m afraid. The issues sureound epower have only been on the subject that even though it’s seen as an electric car the hybrid still emits pollution and the mpg isn’t that high considering the tech onboard.
@@cathalmulholland5503 thank you for adding this. I am getting my Motability one in 2 days and have had to save up just shy of £3k for the deposit and will lose the mobility part of my monthly PIP so definitely NOT free!
@ISITWORTHITUK Instead of thanking Ron for his comments, you should delete them. He is totally wrong in what he says. He is offensive in the extreme, and you are showing total contempt for disabled people by leaving his comments on your channel. Seriously, wake up and smell the coffee!
Yes you are right and the e-power has been around since 2013/14 with the Nissan leaf however they seemed to have improved it and re-marketed the e-power as a new technological advancement which it is but it’s routes aren’t entirely fresh.

Thanks for comment Jeffrey, considering one! (Over the normal auto)👍
Was deciding over ford kuga st line x or Nissan Qashqai e power. Decided on the Qashqai as it has a newer feel to it
I've had a Tekna spec since December 2022.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Great insight into the other cars you’ve driven and owned, even premium Nissans too 👍
I’ve owned an E- Power since beginning of October 2022 & in my opinion it is far better than the 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid I’ve owned in the past the CVT box on the RAV4 is painful to put it mildly where as the epower feels quite refined.
@@chs1961 We would like to know why you chose the E-power over the normal petrol?
Tell @scottyklimmer

You've gone for the top trim also, we were really impressed with 12.3 inch touchscreen.
Had my epower nconnecta for 2 weeks now and so far, I'm really impressed with it. Achieved 593 miles from my 1st full tank of petrol.
That's decent, what driving mode were you using for this?
Was this local driving or motorway ?
Collecting mine on Tuesday! Can't wait!
Did you go e-power?
@IS IT WORTH IT? I shall be putting my order in next week sometime. Can't wait to look at the Massaging drivers seat is like
Bought a new Tekna in 2008 and is simply the best car I have ever owned. Still have it too with 55k miles on it. Now need to change it but I don’t want to but being disabled, I am finding it a little more difficult to get in and out. Just need a couple of inches higher and longer to accommodate my inflexible spine, rear passengers and my mobility scooter. I LOVE this car
Great to hear graham and we really appreciate your comments. What was it you liked about the 2008 Qashqai or made you stick with it?
That’s why I have kept it for 15 years LOVE IT
Negatives are:- could do with being just a wee bit taller from the seat squab to the roofline, the rear doors could do with opening to 90 degrees and another couple of inches for the rear passengers is needed.
Im getting mines, end of month woo hoo

I have to say Nissan have really set themselves great for the transition to full evs in the future with this e powers, and their interior and exterior design are good . The note 2023 exceeded my expectations
It potentially helps bridge the gap even more now with the goverment pushing back the end of new ICE sales to 2035👍
Had my E-Pawer since the end of November.

I’m going to order one in April although I’m tempted to look at the X Trail
Good choice, would you go E-power on the X-trail also?
The X trail epower in 4x4 spec is strong. Not as economical as the Q, but has great traction with individual motors for the rear, like the Rav hybrid4x4 has; slightly more commanding driving position and great space for 5. Avoid the 7 seat, it's not spacious enough for teenagers in the 3rd row compared to a more expensive Kia Sorento and costs a grand you won't get back let alone get practical value from. You get an opening panoramic sunroof on Tekna spec X trails. 🎉

Worth it ❤

😀Great informative video, Thanks, Ordered my new E-power Tekna 👍
Good choice!
I like also the X trail e power cause can have in 4X4
The big difference is the fuel consumption, x trail is 9 lit per 100 but qashqai epower is 7.5 lit per 100.
Is there qashqai epower 4X4 ?
Hopefully the e-power X-Trail will be coming on the channel soon.. we are working in the background for this to happen. All the subs and comments really help us with being able to do this 👍
And NO I’m afraid not with the 4X4 e-power Qashqai - which is abit of a shame really only in 2WD config right now.
Thanks for watching and commenting. We agree and these are valid points. Have you ended up with a Qashqai?

I suppose it’s an engine they use already and is fuel efficient enough similar to fords Eco-boost.
The tekna plus version actually comes with electric massage drivers seat
Great car but one huge problem it doesn't have a CD player
I think they are long gone now. I actually miss the mini disc players that were in minis 😂
That's interesting to note thanks Chris, I hadn't realised😮!👍
We already have the new quashqui, 1.3 petrol mhev 158bhp Teckna is it worth swapping for the e power

Thanks DJ for watching and commenting . It’s very clever technology 👍
@@DJKav a parallel hybrid has a mechanical connection from engine to wheels whereas a series hybrid connects a generator to the engine.
Qashqai’s are built in Sunderland not midlands
Thanks for watching Davie. Yes all Qashqai’s are built at the Sunderland plant. I probably didn’t make it clear I was referencing about the development of the first Gen (J10) which was designed in London but was engineered at the time by Nissan's European Technical Centre.
This is the top of the range Ti right? They aren't all like this?
Yes this is one below the top range trim it’s the Tekna trim.
Nice suv
The tekna now has wireless android auto
How come this e-power is not available in North America? And it looks like the Qashqai line is about to be discontinued?
Where have you seen this?
Would have been good to see how the seats fold down. Is it 60 to 40 split?
Thanks for the comment, we will keep this in mind for the next video and yes 60/40 split 👍
Yes, 60/40 split
It's very very nic
Your width measement is wrong - try 2.08 mtrs !
Its worth it with the renault 2.0
You’ve not gone E-power? How come ?
@@ISITWORTHITUK north american market. Even if I had a choice I'd take the 2.0 over those.
@@TheFinger1 yeah part of the Renault /Nissan alliance. Do great diesels the French!

Qashqai for me please.
Great video - professional and informative - just one thing made me cringe - your casual driving style! How can you say you’re in control of a car when steering it with just three fingertips of one hand touching the steering wheel? Sorry, can’t deny you’ve done a great job here, but that’s not a good example to be setting people.
Thanks for the comments Peter and glad you enjoyed the video. Noted for next time on the driving 👍
Ev, the plugging in bit is the economical bit.....get a tesla
You appear not to understand the e-power drive train.
Can you please explain?
At 24 seconds you confuse things by staying that the power plant (ICE) drives the front wheels. This is not the case. You also use unhelpful language that does not differentiate between the engine (ICE) and engine (electric).
😊
Car looks great but you three finger steering indicates you need to retake your test.
ive have Nissans with the past 10 years ive got a X-trail at the moment with 24 ,ooo miles its had new battery , my drivers seat has a metal bar near the tunnel showing through & its rusty plus i can see bitts of foam crumbling , the car is great to drive 1,6 diesel: 42 mils per gallon : worst things are terrible paintwork it has scratches everywhere its so thin very very poor quality .& i paid £300 pound extra to have ceramic coating which their is no sign of it whatsoever : bird poo stains the the poor paint coating: & my front windows drop while driving , they drop abought 1 mil causing wind noise : its great car looks good drives fantastic ; but they need to address paint issues & poor quality seats as rain water on my drivers seat cannot be removed from the poor quality of the material used on the seats : back to the Qashqai: ive now test driven them 3 times great to drive with the auto on the E power but the engine when idle or in traffic revving up on & of is terrible its only going to return around 40mpg great to drive & interior feels much better than my X= Trail ; I'm a bit concerned abought the paintwork will it last or fail you need to apply a few coats of lacquer of better Quality as this water based is no good ? : back to the car its great drive not sure if theirs any point to engine running to charge a small battery that cant run the car twithought engine revving up all of the time it all seems pointless & you cant charge it up yourself at home ether ??? : i drove the mild Hybrid with DSG Auto box its a great little car cuts out in traffic & starts up as you pull away very Quiet little engine went fairly well & was a really good drive great car £2,000 cheaper than the E, POWER in the same speck & around the same mpg : e power if you live in a city maybe but do not like all the revving of the engine when sitting idle , my x=trail will just stop & restart when i pull away it makes a lot more sense : so im still thinking abought the E= POWER :
Thanks for watching and commenting. Keep us posted on your final choice. Be glad to hear what you decided on.
When would be the best time to use the B setting then?@@Raw-Coffee-Bean
Full pollution ev ,well done nissan.
Sadly no paddle shifter
Be awesome if they did but it’s to do with the transmission with the epower it’s a singular speed automatic so you wouldn’t be able to change gears as there are none.👍
No gearbox, no need for a paddle shifter!
😂😂😂what for...no gearbox!!!
If you get DLA or PIP you don’t get the cars for free. They have to pay 2 Grand up front and then pay per month for 3 years. 10:38
@@cathalmulholland5503 thank you for adding this. I am getting my Motability one in 2 days and have had to save up just shy of £3k for the deposit and will lose the mobility part of my monthly PIP so definitely NOT free!

Yes you are right and the e-power has been around since 2013/14 with the Nissan leaf however they seemed to have improved it and re-marketed the e-power as a new technological advancement which it is but it’s routes aren’t entirely fresh.
