Being an old lady....this is like the Cadillac of Chicken Tractors!!!! I just love it!!! I have 4 chickens and maybe I could modify my tractor to be like this and could have chickens for years to come! You have made it possible for us seniors to continue to have our chicken tractors!!! Thank you!!!
WOW, this has got to be the best chicken coop/tractor ever! It's clear that you've put a lot of thought and planning into the design. Congratulations on a job well done!
Got a good laugh out of the chicken tractor rolling by you, on intro. But yea - wow Awesome design. I think this should be rated #1 chicken tractor on youtube. Thank you
Thank you. If you didn't already see it, here's my latest video that reviews how it has worked for the last 2 years. ua-cam.com/video/jPXawnu7zS4/v-deo.html
That's a great idea to use parts from a powered wheel chair. This is way better than manually dragging it around the yard. Good job and thanks for sharing.
Oh my! What a fantastic chicken coop design! I love it. At 71 yrs. I haven't done homesteading in quite a while. Plus away from the Country life and with Recession and widowhood, became the need for necessity. No problem, I have purchased three baby chicks, they are in my makeshift brooder, but I have been planning this for over a year. My coop design is in its 4th or 5th series. Your suggestions are fantastic. Love that you have designed a tractor that you can move with your remote. Thanks again for sharing your joys! God Bless! Laverna S.
I'll bet you could install an Xbox Kinect sensor to detect the location of the chickens and allow them to "drive" it themselves, moving it to a fresh spot whenever they get close to an edge. A sort of chicken Roomba.
Actually you could get the sensors of a automatic grass cutter that is broken and put a wire in to the ground and set it to follow the path of the wire automatically. Easy and simple
Love it! The only improvement I could suggest is a sheet of vinyl on the coop floor that you pull out to dump the dirty bedding. Just dump and lay it back in.
I honestly don't know why I clicked on this. I wasn't even interested and yet by the end of the video I was highly impressed by this mans imagination and completion of an amazing chicken coup. Bravo. 💗
Very impressed with the remote moving. I'd love to see a video on that. Would have to be bonehead easy, but I see the possibilities with it. Write it done and sell the plans. Great innovation. No one else is doing anything like that. Outstanding.
Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it. I've thought about making plans but that's not a strength of mine. Maybe I'll figure out how to do it sometime down the road.
This is the best chicken tractor I've seen. I love how you motorized it. Genious! Less work taking care of the the chickens and more enjoyment. I think it would be hilarious to have company over, then keep moving it little by little and film their reactions as they think it moved - but aren't quite sure.
This is so funny ! If I owned this coop , oh those poor chickens would never get any rest. You should go to the car junk yard & buy a cheap steering wheel so the chicken looks like its driving the coop. I bet its more entertaining then prime time TV.
I LOVE THIS!!!! You sir, are a genius. Thanks for sharing, and I hope you will do a video with more details about the motorized part of the chicken house. Some of us aren’t as knowledgeable in that subject. Thanks again, and I look forward to seeing more of your videos, me being a newbie. God Bless!
Thanks for watching. I have 2 out of the 3 build videos done so far. The third one should be done soon. Here is the first one: ua-cam.com/video/Ge359UFG3iw/v-deo.html
This is a pretty technical coup. One thing you might add is an automatic door on the laying/sleeping box to pen them in at night. My fixed-location coup has this to keep the foxes away. I really like the water system and will incorporate your design into mine. thanks for the video.
At 1:15 , right when you say "I've never lost a chicken to any kind of predator", one of the chickens escapes the coop. Is that skirt capable of keeping predators out?
That's a fantastic Programmable Portable Poultry Protecting Penthouse you have there. I love it! I'm tempted to build something similar. The only thing I might do differently is just have it equipped with a trailer hitch so I can tow it around with my garden tractor. Only to save on having to motorize it. But other than that I'd probably incorporate pretty much everything else of what you did. Thanks for sharing!
You could build a commercial version and make a bunch of money or just become a commercial chicken producer. Some organic farmers will pay you to run chicken tractors across their fields in the winter or early spring for the pest control and fertilizer and by having several wired together wouldn't even have to get out of your vehicle to move them. You could even wire them to a WiFi sensor with food and water level indicators and set up a remote WiFi spot on one and rarely even have to go to the fields to check them
Hah, this is great. How does it manage in winter on snow, or on wet grass? Any casters at the front or is the entire run just cantilevered? I think I'd have a small electric fence unit on it with wire on standoffs running around the outer perimeter. Lots of foxes where I live; They'd soon figure out how to get under the skirt.
Sir, you are a genius! How very awesome! This is lovely protection and yet gives the chicken a bit of free range feeding. Good for the environment, good for the chickens, and it ends up being good for the people too!
This is an Awesome build! My concern, as others have mentioned, is the security of the bottom curtain. Perhaps adding a low electric fence around the perimeter that could be wired into the solar power? Just a thought...but definitely, if it's not broke, don't fix it! Great build!
Thanks for the input. I am contemplating building a V3 of this at some point in the near future so I can implement some improvements and I will keep the electric fence idea in mind.
Your ingenuity is amazing! I don’t live in a place where you can have chickens, and I STILL want to watch your building video. So cool! Thanks for sharing :)
Brilliant! The only thing I would change is the chicken wire for hardware cloth, but maybe you dont have a raccoon problem, you didn't mention them. Absolutely brilliant!
Thanks! My first version used hardware cloth but mostly because I already had some on hand. I used the chicken wire to try and keep weight down. Luckily, I don't have a racoon problem here but you are right, that would be an easy switch for someone that has that problem. Thanks for watching
Wow! This is most IMPRESSIVE!! I wish my land was flat - we are on the holler - everything would be on a steep slope and spilling out! Keep the great ideas coming!
Great idea! We built a mowbot using off-road wheel chair wheels and motors, great for the flat areas, but we have steep property and want to build a shredbot for weeds and shrubs on the steeper slopes. Did you find any more aggressive motorized wheels in your research? Also, how do you keep the coyotes from crawling under the cage?
This is a great design. I think after all this trouble, I'd seal off that area they keep pooping on. Would love to see the plans and know what solar power is actually needed.
COOP DE VILLE----the caddy of coops.....except for the critter gap at the bottom, this thing is great...Too many weasels and stoats around here to keep out. I see you have plans to correct that...I'll look forward to seeing your revisions!
Please share videos of how to build it. Shoot, I'd pay for a class on how to build this. Please cover how you sourced the materials as well. Thank you!!!
Here is the first video about how I built it: ua-cam.com/video/Ge359UFG3iw/v-deo.html There are two more after that as well. I mention in the videos where I sourced most of the materials. Thanks for watching.
I LOVE the water system! Ingenious! I want one! I also love the solar panel. Really industrious! This is so cool! I want a remote control chicken coop!! 😁 I'm just guessing that there are many husbands out there right now who are saying 'dude really?' Mine is no carpenter so he already hates my birds! Lol I can imagine if I asked him for a remote control coop! 🤣🤣
I am surprised a Fisher Cat can't get through the chicken wire. It certainly would not hold up to Black Bears in my area, and perhaps not to Bob Cat. Very ingenious method of moving. It looks heavier than many chicken tractors I have seen, so that is very useful. I have just stumbled on your channel, so I will look to see if the video of making it has been posted as this is almost two years after this video.
That's such a great design!! Originally I wanted a chicken tractor too, but my dad didn't understand, he bought super heavy wood and made a coop slightly based off my design. Years later we're still dealing with the downsides of not having a chicken tractor versus coop, most recent of which is how far our chickens free range and them digging up the sprouting veggies in the garden and the roots of newly planted shrubs
First off WOW, nice coop, Two things I would suggest though, #1 add a diagonal piece of plywood or cut a slick piece of plastic and secure above your nesting boxes, that will take care of that issue, second, surprised you haven't added an automatic door. Nice solar!
Cool idea and creation! I raise chickens but I can free-range them on my property. I trained the dogs so that they don't hassle the hens. I like your stationary house.
Dude, that thing is amazing! The only thing I'd worry about is that during a thunderstorm it may go nuts and run over the dog. 😃😃 Seriously though the one thing I'd worry about is the skirt around the open pen looks pretty accessible to predators, but I guess, even though you don't need to feeed or water them often, you actually still go and close them in at night?
It's a great invention. Only concern I have would be a fox or coyote getting under the cage part fairly easy in the skirt. And I see baby chickens sneaking out from under it. It's a great creativity masterpiece none-the-less. Nice work.
Everything about this design is ingenious. The only thing I would improve is the security around the skirt of the coop. I'm going to "steal" your feeding and watering systems and use them for my own coop 🙂
"Pretty basic interior" huh when was chick coops with mag light switches and water pumps and leds.....basic chicken coop stuff.....guess im too old at 32 😆
That thing is amazing! You've done some excellent work and I am VERY impressed! You should put together a nice .pdf file of the build plans and instructions and sell it! Nothing like a nice passive income stream for such a super cool project. (Farming+robotics = Win!)
I love that chicken coop. My yard backs onto green space and I see raccoons, fox, cats etc...passing by all the time. This makes it seem possible that I too could have chickens and keep them safe and happy at the same time.
Yes plz ..building coup from ground up.when I move home I'm planning on doing this at my grand kids house.....such a score that u have shared and perfected it......what a wonderful man
I need you to take this on Shark Tank. I bet it would be amazing to see the looks on everyones faces as you drive this in with the chickens inside. Get some funding, and bet you could sell a lot of these for some nice income. I assume if a chicken ever fails to keep up with the tractor they will just slip out from the cover below the pen ya? No risk of getting pinned? Though I doubt as you're the one controlling it. It be pretty cool if you could use like romba settings to tell it to go from point a to point b and back, and have it slowly inch across the yard.
You should check out "Ardupilot". Using a flight conroller from a drone you could program a GPS course for this chicken tractor to just wander around your farm!
Great IDEA!!! add an auger in a serrated tube - that would turn, - driven by the wheels... and sparingly spread some of the feed on the new grass as the vehicle is moving forward... you can add some basic rain collection to auto refill the water supply tank... and basic "drive by wire" guidance using a laser beam fencing...
Best coop I have ever seen. You did a great job. You went so far, here's something you missed: a chicken leg sensor that can stop the coop so you don't break a leg, a chicken leg, that is. ciao.
Were you able to ever put a video together of the chicken coop in details and the steps to put the newest one together? Very interested in a supply list. Thanks
Unfortunately I some how lost half of my build footage so I only have the final steps. I am hoping to build Version 2 of it this winter if time allows, and I will document that.
Awesome job. What an accomplishment. And, if you lived in a cold zone, you could drive it up to or into your barn or garage for the winter. Again, outstanding.
If it had four doors, would it be a chicken sedan???
Secession Cycles - DeLux, don’t forget, DeLux! 🤣
I want the sports model! Lol Convertible top rolls back with hardware cloth underneath...chickens with sun glasses and smiles! 😁
👍
It would be a Coupe!
I think it's Coop DeVille now.

I agree! Thanks for watching
Highland Rabbitry ..I agree. Best one 🏆🏆🏆
❤️🇨🇦
I thought he was doing it with green screen and he would be in the background pushing it too.
You Are The Best👍
Now that's really cool. 😎
That's some serious chicken cooping. The Coup Deville model for sure.
Thank you. If you didn't already see it, here's my latest video that reviews how it has worked for the last 2 years. ua-cam.com/video/jPXawnu7zS4/v-deo.html
I love it that you said excuse me to your hen before back up, back up, back up! What a wonderful design! You have thought of everything!
Nope: He did not add an electric fence (12V) around the skirt to discourage predators.
That's a great idea to use parts from a powered wheel chair. This is way better than manually dragging it around the yard. Good job and thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Definitely... I drag 2 around. One not too bad and the other one I move with the 4 wheeler because it's just too heavy. Great idea
I just published part 1 in the build. Hope you enjoy. ua-cam.com/video/Ge359UFG3iw/v-deo.html
Oh my! What a fantastic chicken coop design! I love it. At 71 yrs. I haven't done homesteading in quite a while. Thanks for watching
Where is the quadropter to deliver your eggs every morning?
Your idea of a self-propelled chicken tractor and execution of your idea are both fantastic.
Thank you
I'll bet you could install an Xbox Kinect sensor to detect the location of the chickens and allow them to "drive" it themselves, moving it to a fresh spot whenever they get close to an edge. A sort of chicken Roomba.

Just google for wire guided lawn mower :)
Ooh, I like that
this is the coolest thing I've ever read
power to the chickens
In my head I was shooting you down through this whole video and then boom you knocked me in the face with a remote control set up. Genius!
Love it! The only improvement I could suggest is a sheet of vinyl on the coop floor that you pull out to dump the dirty bedding. Just dump and lay it back in.
Wow, great idea! We’re going to use that!
yep and save it for composting!
Robo Coop. Brilliant! A rumba for the lawn, that drops off fresh eggs before it goes to work. Truly brilliant!
Thank you
Awesome. I would be interested in the build video for sure.
Thanks for watching. More videos coming in the spring and hopefully a build video on the coop as well.
@@FreeRangePeople dude, everyone is going to want a self-moving chicken tractor now!
I just published part 1 in the build. Hope you enjoy. ua-cam.com/video/Ge359UFG3iw/v-deo.html
I just published part 1 in the build. Hope you enjoy. ua-cam.com/video/Ge359UFG3iw/v-deo.html
OMG...u r a genius! Wouldn't I LOVE to have this setup!?!!!
I honestly don't know why I clicked on this. I wasn't even interested and yet by the end of the video I was highly impressed by this mans imagination and completion of an amazing chicken coup. Bravo. 💗

Whether or not you make & sell plans on it, you DEFINITELY need to file a PATENT TODAY...yesterday really..but DON'T WAIT!
Got to get a patent and start selling chicken coops. I would buy one
Oh man You are a genius! The chicken coop looked like it was moving on rails.I love it!
Thank you very much!
This is the best chicken tractor I've seen. I love how you motorized it. Genious! Less work taking care of the the chickens and more enjoyment. I think it would be hilarious to have company over, then keep moving it little by little and film their reactions as they think it moved - but aren't quite sure.
LOL !
The best part of this video is that MOBILE casters and battery set up. Bravo.
Are you going to post a materials list? Think I’d like to build this. Excellent, practical design. Good work!
OMG A DRIVING CHICKEN COOP, WHAT A TRIP!!! LOVE IT THE CHICKENS ARE PROTECTED & FREE RANGE IN A SCENCE
Thank you
I have NEVER seen a chicken coop with more bells and whistles than that one.
Pretty much one of the best, but definitely the most practical chicken coop on the internet!
Thank you!
This is so funny ! If I owned this coop , oh those poor chickens would never get any rest.
You should go to the car junk yard & buy a cheap steering wheel so the chicken looks like its driving the
coop. I bet its more entertaining then prime time TV.
love the fact that you can drive that tractor with one hand!!!! Genius!!!! The girls all look happy too.
Thank you!

Love the way your chicken demonstrated the water dish.
Right on cue
Listen to your happy, happy chickens. This was a very cool video, and thank you for sharing your ingenuity. God Bless from Phoenix. Russ
Thanks for watching
This is a pretty technical coup. One thing you might add is an automatic door on the laying/sleeping box to pen them in at night. My fixed-location coup has this to keep the foxes away. I really like the water system and will incorporate your design into mine. thanks for the video.
That’s awesome ! Great idea recycling the carts wheels and drive system. Simple and brilliant
Thanks!
I thought it was overkill until I remote control...that was the cherry on top! Love it!
At 1:15 , right when you say "I've never lost a chicken to any kind of predator", one of the chickens escapes the coop. Is that skirt capable of keeping predators out?
id be more worried about rats getting the food than chickens
No chance, it can't keep chickens in. I guess this would work well in a completely secured area.

This is really impressive, you have raised the bar far past what an average diy man hacks together
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
Great system. Looking forward for the details. Can you harvest rain water to fill tractor water tank and place an overflow pipe to avoid inner spills?
That’s over the top! Definitely a luxury item to have. Looks like a super low maintenance way to own chickens.
Yep, it makes it easy to keep them and protect them. Thanks for watching.
I wish the hens could control the tractor, oh the possibilities.
How could anyone not like this? 55 jokers gave it thumbs down! 10/10 for ingenuity.
Haha, thanks for watching!
An electric fence surround is a great idea! A compete rolling fortress.
Definitely best chicken tractor on UA-cam.
Thank you
This got to be the coolest coop ever, yo7 make Justin Rhodes jealous 🤣🤣🤣
Your ingenuity is amazing! I don’t live in a place where you can have chickens, and I STILL want to watch your building video. So cool! Thanks for sharing :)

Holy crap! Market this! So many newbies would want this you’d make a small fortune!
Dude that is awesome. :D
Well done. Love the water and food solutions, (and OBVIOUSLY the self-moving part!)
Thank you and thanks for watching
Wow! This is most IMPRESSIVE!! I wish my land was flat - we are on the holler - everything would be on a steep slope and spilling out! Keep the great ideas coming!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This does look awesome! I too am wondering about if the predators can crawl or dig under the cage.
your coops are very cool
That is the coolest thing I ever saw!!! Excellent job!
Thanks
This is one of the coolest things I've seen on UA-cam
This is a great design. I think after all this trouble, I'd seal off that area they keep pooping on. Would love to see the plans and know what solar power is actually needed.
I too would like to know what basic solar components are needed and where to buy...for our air stove. Love your coop!
COOP DE VILLE----the caddy of coops.....except for the critter gap at the bottom, this thing is great...Too many weasels and stoats around here to keep out. I see you have plans to correct that...I'll look forward to seeing your revisions!
Thanks for watching
definitely needs more than 1100 views!! Awesome chicken tractor!
Thank you!
Please share videos of how to build it. Shoot, I'd pay for a class on how to build this. Please cover how you sourced the materials as well. Thank you!!!
Here is the first video about how I built it: ua-cam.com/video/Ge359UFG3iw/v-deo.html
There are two more after that as well.
Thanks for watching. I'm really happy with how this turned out. Maybe my build video's will help you/your husband build one? Good luck!
Holy cow!! Coolest chicken tractor ever!! How does this not have like 3 million views!
Thanks for watching, glad you liked it.
I'm geting ready to build my own coop and this is really cool!
Thanks!
Someone asked me to build a chicken tractor so I asked her how many cylinders and if it's diesel or gas powered?
That's such a great design!! Originally I wanted a chicken tractor too, but my dad didn't understand, he bought super heavy wood and made a coop slightly based off my design. Years later we're still dealing with the downsides of not having a chicken tractor versus coop, most recent of which is how far our chickens free range and them digging up the sprouting veggies in the garden and the roots of newly planted shrubs
awesome coops! Keep up the great work
I am working on 3 videos that show how I built this coop. Video one is out here ua-cam.com/video/Ge359UFG3iw/v-deo.html
First off WOW, nice coop, Two things I would suggest though, #1 add a diagonal piece of plywood or cut a slick piece of plastic and secure above your nesting boxes, that will take care of that issue, second, surprised you haven't added an automatic door. Nice solar!
6:33 Fast forward to the electronics.
Seriously though the one thing I'd worry about is the skirt around the open pen looks pretty accessible to predators, but I guess, even though you don't need to feeed or water them often, you actually still go and close them in at night?
Really awesome design! I'd suggest roof rain water harvesting. Add a rainwater gutter to roof and pipe to a simple filter and your water tank.
Laughing about that chicken tractor rolling along! Imagine someone driving past your place and seeing that move all by itself! 🤣
Great design!
Thank you
It's a great invention. Only concern I have would be a fox or coyote getting under the cage part fairly easy in the skirt. And I see baby chickens sneaking out from under it.
It's a great creativity masterpiece none-the-less. Nice work.
😮 no freakin way... thats freakin cool 👍
Thanks!
Everything about this design is ingenious. The only thing I would improve is the security around the skirt of the coop. I'm going to "steal" your feeding and watering systems and use them for my own coop 🙂
"Pretty basic interior" huh when was chick coops with mag light switches and water pumps and leds.....basic chicken coop stuff.....guess im too old at 32 😆
Very impressive. The only question I have is the security set up to keep predators from entering under the cage.
That thing is amazing! You've done some excellent work and I am VERY impressed! You should put together a nice .pdf file of the build plans and instructions and sell it! Nothing like a nice passive income stream for such a super cool project. (Farming+robotics = Win!)

That’s brilliant. Great job!

So happy that American ingenuity is alive and well. Congratulations, it's a great idea!
That's frickin awesome!
Thanks!
Yes plz ..building coup from ground up.when I move home I'm planning on doing this at my grand kids house.....such a score that u have shared and perfected it......what a wonderful man

You should check out "Ardupilot". Using a flight conroller from a drone you could program a GPS course for this chicken tractor to just wander around your farm!
Cool idea. Thanks
The thought of a portable chicken house a century ago would've been laughed at.. its a rolling fertilizer box..
OMG that is so cool 😎
Thanks!
Amazing job ! Nice way to think outside the box !
Thank you!
nice job! This would be nice for some one who has more money than time... :)
Haha, that's funny considering that I built it because I have more time than money. Thanks for watching.
That’s NOT a chicken tractor. That’s a chicken 🐔 Cadillac! Well done. Some genius parts. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
It's 8am, I havent gone to bed, I'm trying to finish the bloody edits for this paper, but I'm watching this video.
Best coop I have ever seen. You did a great job. You went so far, here's something you missed: a chicken leg sensor that can stop the coop so you don't break a leg, a chicken leg, that is. ciao.
The skirt makes it into a Chicken hovercraft!
Good news, I found most of the lost footage. I just published part 1 in the build. Hope you enjoy. ua-cam.com/video/Ge359UFG3iw/v-deo.html
I was laughing so hard at the end when it was moving an the chicken's like oh shit we better move! 👍👍 Cool build!!
Awesome job. What an accomplishment. And, if you lived in a cold zone, you could drive it up to or into your barn or garage for the winter. Again, outstanding.
If I built that I'd have to get about $50/a dozen for my eggs
Haha, I would gladly sell you a dozen for $49 :)

I love this, was just telling my wife today we should build a chicken powered tractor. This is the next best thing!
Thanks!
When he moved it with the remote.. my words GTFOH! This is awesome! LOL
Thanks for watching!
Loved it. My first chicken tractor was over kill and a back braking task to move as well.
