Outstanding work young lady! It warms my heart to see a young girl work, build and soak up the farm life! Your parents must be very proud of you! Great video!!
I have been researching several different DIY tractors for my chickens, and this one has brought me to my final decision! What a wonderfully done video. I am just beginning my homesteading adventure and doing a lot on my own. This is can do with out help! Also very lightweight...affordable, lumber is insane these days. Love it! Thanks :)
Thank you so much Ms Emily! Part 2 has some easy ways to add feed, water and nesting boxes that move easily! Moving the tractor everyday is so much better than cleaning and gives fresh grass. We have been focussing a lot on garden videos right now but will do poultry update very soon!! I hope you will join my sisters and I in our other videos. If you have any questions about the tractor build, let me know. I have 3 now! -Trie🛠
Way to go girl!🎉 showing little girls and adult women all around the world that females can do it too! 👏👏👏 I’m a grown woman and you’ve encouraged and inspired me!🫶
Thank you for this video! I'm currently building one based on this plan ☺️ Just wanted to give everyone that's going to plan on building this chicken tractor a heads up that you'll need one more piece of 1/2" PVC (8 ft) and four 90° elbows. I forgot to add that to my shopping list 🤭 I also replaced the 6ft 3" PVC on the ends with 2" to save about $20 👍
I'm thinking this will leave a small gap under the 2" sides and may encourage chickens to dig there. Moving it more frequently might help. Good luck and thank you for your kind words!
Farmers kind of take for granted all the serious skills they have. Just in this video, she shows mechanical aptitude, proficiency with hand and power tools, and most importantly the ability to run/manage her own project. That is worth an easy $25-$50 an hour depending on the trade. Because teaching the trade is the easy part, teaching the ability to think/manage/motivate on your own can be impossible.
Well done young farmer! The only thing I would add is that you might consider wearing safety glasses when working with chicken wire. I learned this the hard way when a roll curled up and the very corner and nearly took my eye out. It hit my eye lid a fraction of an inch at the bottom. Unfortunately things like that happen fast and a lot of times can't be undone. Again good work, farm on and be safe. Cheers from WV.
Thank you so much! Yes, I do need to learn to be more careful. Thank you for reminding me. I also love the nick-name "young farmer"! That's awesome! Thank you! -Trie (girl in video)
This is a great design! Thanks for the idea. I have an old bunny that I think would enjoy a pin like this. It'll be perfect for him while I clean and expand his hutch size. He can just lounge in the grass instead of a smaller cage.
Awesome Chicken Tractor DIY Trie ! The puppies are precious. Thanks for sharing. Stay happy, healthy, hydrated and safe. May God continue to bless you, your family and your adventures.
Trie you did an outstanding job with this instructional video. I especially liked that you have a supply list, you gave clear instructions, and you are a fine young person doing this work. I also like you didn’t talk a lot about nothing like many people do. I don’t have loads of time and this made it easy for me to make a decision. I was considering boards, cattle panels then chicken wire but when you demonstrated how to pull it - the pvc definitely looks like the best choice. Thank you so much, best wishes

Sounds like you might enjoy just meeting some of farm friends and taking a little tour. Let me know how your build project goes. You can do this! Thanks again for being so kind!
I’ve watched several videos on how to make a pvc chicken tractor and this is by far the best video!! Great job Vinyard Chicks! Thank you for your instruction!!
Thank you! That video was years ago and I now use 3 Chicken Tractors and that first one is still working just as good. Hope it helps and thank you for commenting!
Thanks so much! I've been thinking of redoing some of these videos now that I've had some practice making videos. Thanks so much for the encouragement!
I made this one today while following your instructions! We are using it for a daytime place for chickens or rabbits. I am hoping the chickens will love eating new grass. Thanks for the tips!
Thank you so much Ms Robin! My next video will show a bit about how I use my chicken tractor (3 now) and my sisters and I play music on our channel now too. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment! Blessings! 🤍
That's great!! If you haven't seen Part2, the feed and water trays and nesting boxes I use are easy to pull along with the Chicken tractor. Fresh grass every day! The 2 foot long concrete mixers work really well on the 6-foot side. Please let me know if I can help with anything! -Trie

Vineyard Chicks you little ladies are awesome. I shared the song and piano video that you made with my wife. She loved it and was singing it when I called her from work. I told her that whomever was doing the chicken tractor video was very articulate and I actually thought it was a woman in their 20s doing the video until I put my glasses on and I was amazed someone so young was so productive and sharp. Mom and Dad are no doubt God fearing wonderful leaders of their home. It’s very nice to see good people creating wholesome material. Also I am going to make the chicken tractor 🚜 soon as I’ve got my yard ready. The video was so precise and seemed to cover all the basis. Thanks again for the quality instructional s and Godly music as well. Great work and God bless the vineyard chicks🙂

Young lady, you gave me the PERFECT solution for my door. THANK YOU so very much for publishing this video. I am now subscribing to your channel! THANK YOU!!!
Hello and thank you for leaving me this wonderful comment!! I do have a Part 2 to the video that shows some really great and very cheap add-ons for feed, water and nesting that make moving it easy. My next video will be about using my 3 chicken tractors but Bunkie will do a garden video first. If you have any questions, let me know. Thank you! -Trie
I like it!! My next project. I think it would be easy to add "wings" made with more PVC and 2 foot chicken wire that would hinge on the big bottom pipe (using ties?) and could be raised to rest on the curved frame during "travel". The sides could be 2 on each side for ease of lifting without bending, and the ends can be one piece. The "wings" should be extended to cover the corners when the ends are down. The door would be closed when moving so it even works for that. When the "wings" are down they should be staked with something so critters can't lift them. Maybe lawn staples or even stakes driven at an angle and resting on the pipe.
The base is pretty heavy. We have not lost any chickens in our tractors even though we lost 2 this summer out of the fenced in pen with 6 foot fencing. It's pretty heavy unless you lift it by the strings. Good luck.

Outstanding design, very quick and easy to set up. If I was going to point out a 'down side' it'd be the cost of the large diameter piping & pipe fittings in comparison to a pvc build using smaller diameter parts.
Hello and Thank you so much! 3" pipe is getting expensive! Reducing the base diameter could help save money. The 1/2 poles go to the bottom of the base pipe and might be less stable with shallow pipe and I found the 3" inch pipe slides better....but cost is important too.

@@vineyardchickshomestead you're just all kinds of awesome 😊
