Everytime I hear anything about rocky road ice cream, I am legally required to sing shaggys little jingle
i'm so glad it's not just me haunted by the rocky road ice cream song lmao
I love rocky road ice cream solely because this movie made me want to try it
Me too
You take the high road and I'll take the rocky road! Like Rocky Road ice cream that is🎉
I think CG Nessie looks a lot more scary cause its different to how everything else looks. I love how they made Nessie resemble a medieval dragon. loved this as a kid and still love Scooby now so much!
Fun fact: due to a recent discovery of remains of freshwater dwelling pleisiosaurs in Morocco scientists believe that a being like Nessie existing is plausible
I really liked that they made a Scooby movie with the Loch Ness Monster in it. Nessie has always been one of my favorite cryptids. Something I find interesting is that there is a prop from an old 1969 Sherlock Holmes movie called The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes that is still in Loch Ness today. (The model was built with a neck and two humps but the director did not want the humps and asked for them be removed, despite warnings from the rest of the production that this would affect its buoyancy, and of course the model sank.)
"rocky road ice cream that is" has also lived in my head rent-free since childhood... at least now i know im not the only one haha! absolutely wonderful vids in general from you, its so great to see some scooby critique from someone else who also grew up on this era and loves to poke fun at their fav pieces of media :) i actually thought the 3D monster looked super cool as a kid even though it does look super outdated now. its still very charming to me though :P
weird take (maybe): i love aged cgi monster because they look so ridge and out of place which fit with an monster . when it later is reveal to be a machine it feels right for the animation .
That’s kind of my thought process as well. The uncanniness is part of what makes it spooky. Same for me with Legend of Korrra and the robots in season 4. I have mixed feelings about that show and that plot line, but the CGI looking out of place I think works in making them look more sinister and abominable.
Being both Scottish and a scooby fan I loved the Loch Ness monster movie.
I literally was so happy to hear the Rocky Road song. That song has been stuck in my head for most of my life and I could never remember where it was from
It's scary how catchy he makes it sound 😭
Honestly, this movie is one of the few where the dated cg just never bothers me, purely cause the monster design just always was so cool for me. (The roars are so perfect.) Distracting to some but it's always been impossible for me to feel bothered by it, and the songs here are always the best out of the movies for me. Just super catchy to me.
The idea of Nessie being a gigantic otter with a long neck appeals to me more than her being a reptile.
But that's my mustelid bias speaking.
This movie genuinely led me to develop at least three phobias. Submechanophobia, thalassophobia, and a fear of non-human-like animatronics (which strangely doesn't seem to have a word?) Just watching this video and seeing this version of Nessie again made me incredibly uncomfortable, even though I'm an adult. Overall, though, my opinion of this movie is still really positive! Really good story that I continue to enjoy from afar :)
I honestly always liked the CGI monster, I thought it made it more uncanny and generally creepy than other villains.
7:12 This is the most niche thing I have ever related to oh my god
This one is my favourite of the What's New era movies, lots of great little gags and a fun story
A pretty minor thing, but regarding the review briefly shown at the beginning of the video: Salamanders actually do live in Scotland. The great crested newt, palmate newt, and smooth newt are all native to Scotland, and a newt is a type of salamander.
Brothers forever goes so hard
So true😩🥳
There were so many Jaws references in this movie and I love it
I remember this Scooby Doo fondly. I didn't know it had mixed reviews; I thought it was fine. Yeah, it's not perfect and it doesn't have the high animation quality the older movies had, but this one was a fun one that my younger siblings and I enjoyed.
I just found your channel recently and I'm enjoying it so far! I can't wait to watch your other reviews.
Glad so many people finally show this one more love now 🥰
Could you actually cover monster of Mexico please I'd love to see what all you have to say about that movie
I remember watching this ATLEAST 2 dozen times as a child, i forgot about some of the side characters but it’s awesome someone did a video about it! Especially with quality as high as this. the video length is around the typical length I like for reviews! I would be cautious using Warner Bros clips even in review context, maybe tint it or something like that just to make sure you don’t get copyright claimed. This is good work and UA-cam tends to crap on “smaller” channels so KEEP IT UP
Fun fact, during the production of the movie The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, they used a Nessie prop, however the director wanted the humps removed. So they did....and it fucking sunk. So they made a new one. But the thing is, they NEVER recovered the original movie prop, and it's still in the locke to this day
Imagine swimming and suddenly seeing it
Brothers Forever, the Chase song for this movie is awesome. I love that the animators matched the lyrics to the action on screen
As much as the cg has aged, it does help realize that nessy is a robot.
It’s definitely more obvious now
I love this movie so much. I equally was a fan of Nessy as a child mostly thanks to my mother who was a big fan of learning about it after visiting it for it. So a movie all about it was up my alley. I think the CGI while I can see is a little dated now a days looked really scary as a kid. Just how it looked like it was more monstrous and less like everything else made it stand out as well as the danger and peril throughout the movie is very well done. I also love the culprits of this movie, the brothers are goofy dorks, Dell is actually really funny and I swear his cars jingle is stuck in my head far more than it should, Sir Ian and Penbroke have a good dynamic through the movie and I love the idea of them grouping up in the end, Penbroke as the villain I liked as I like it when we have people doing this for understandable or at least less greedy motivations in these movies so her being the villain was nice to see. Finally Shannon was a nice addition as I love seeing relatives of gang in a lot of these movies and the gags with her family being danger prone was funny as hell to me even now. Also the soundtrack of this movie is so good, not just the stoutish music for the games but the lyrical songs especially Brothers Forever are honestly some of the best tracks in any of these movies. I'm glad to see you do like the movie to!
being from Scotland over the years you eventually get used to the butchering of the accent it's a difficult accent to replicate and many try way too hard with it at this point we enjoy hearing people attempt it gives most of us a good laugh
4:39: wow that was such a good joke it almost distracted me from the fact that Scooby's collar is the wrong colour in this scene
YOU HAD TO PLAY THE ROCKY ROAD CLIP. Now it’s never gonna leave my brain 😭
This was one of my favorite Scooby movies as a kid. It’s funny that I remember absolutely nothing from this movie aside from the Loch Ness monster only because IT WAS NEVER ON TV ENOUGH AND I NEVER FIHND THE DVD-
on another note, I think shannon awoke my interest in redheads-
I don't mind the CGI nessie in night scenes ,gives it an otherworldly quality
Honestly still love this one despite the cg being dated it actually still looks pretty good and honestly i think adds to the creepy factor (also brothers forever is an absolute banger of a song)
this movie definitely sparked my love for folklore and cryptids
Ok but we can all agree that the chase scene and music was awesome
"Daphne's Scottish, lesbian cousin"
I don't think the CGI looks that bad for 2004 because it's paired with the artstyle of the show. I think there were MUCH MUCH Worse examples of CGI from that Era from bigger budget shows, Doctor Who comes to mind straight away and that came out a year later then this.
This is one of my favourite Scooby movies. The soundtrack is one of the best. I also don’t mind the CG design for Nessy. It doesn’t blend well with the regular animation but it’s actually pretty scary
My aunt married a Scottish guy. She gave us this and we adored it.
I used to rent all of the scooby movies and episodes as a kid - it’s such a nice nostalgic feeling to see scenes from the movie again. This was one of my most favourite. Something about Nessie’s CGI made her suuuuper uncanny valley looking which honestly made her the creepiest looking scooby monster to me - always loved that. Loved the chase scene music between her and shaggy and scooby as well.
Oh, and I swear as soon as I heard shaggys ‘Rocky road’ song I immediately knew all the lyrics - I can’t count the amount of times I listened to that
Is anyone else still not sure if the fiddle guy in the opening is dead?
We see his fiddle wash up on shore and I didn't see him in the crowd after the crash. (In fact the crowd on shore looks a little smaller then the one on the boat.)
The UA-cam algorithm blessed me with this recommendation. I know what I'm going to be bingeing!
This one I liked. It wasn't an outstanding one, but it's definitely a solid, entertaining entry. When they really try to outdo themselves with a Scooby Doo movie or show, they end up jumping the shark, and taking away from the style and premise of the original show.
This is actually my favorite Scooby Doo movie growing up and I think it's a hidden gem of the early 2000s era. I still think it got the best soundtrack for a scobby doo movie, especially the first chase song.
i dont exactly get why you dont like the cgi on nessie in this movie cause for its time it was great and when i saw this movie i was both scared of the design and enthralled as well from how good it was and you might find it distracting but i believe its a good thing as it make you stare in wonder at the design and sure it could be improved but i wouldnt trade this design cause its iconic
Daphne: Velma, do you have a book for every occasion?
Me: This is a woman who is practically prepared for every occasion, yes, yes she does.
I first saw this movie because my family mysteriously received it in the mail.
The gang are trying to send you a message
While using an invented Scottish castle and playing loose with geography in general, I really liked them using the city/village/whatever of Drumnadrochit (at least by name) in the movie, the real life location of a Nessie museum and a very nice spot to spend a family vacation. No, I'm not working for Drumnadrochit's tourism department ;) , simply spent a wonderful vacation there with my family a couple of years ago. The location was mystical, with thick fog forming within seconds, staying for a few minutes, and disappearing just as quickly... No wonder the people there believe(d) in fairies and monsters.
I just discovered all your videos and I love them all! Just want to mention that Scooby and Shaggy also meet nessie in the 4th episode of laff a lympics, The Sahara desert and Scottland, in which their boat ends up on top of nessie’s head, much like the scene in the movie.
It is because of this film, and specifically opening and later underwater scenes, that I found out about my thalassophobia.
As a biologist I do despise the comment on it being amphibious as they are also ectothermic.
Wouldn't have been hard for the writers to be accurate for the line.
Still one of my faves tho.
yes it would their not biologists genius .. and its not real nobody knows what it is
Del is definitely one of my favorite side characters and I’m sad he hasn’t popped back up
The Loch Ness monster video was so good so much memories
Omg 😆 Daphne’s lesbian cousin, I thought I was the only one who made that connection.
cgi nessie terrified me
Ngl the cgi Loch Ness monster scared me as a kid, like genuinely terrified me 😅😅😅
Can you cover Scooby-Doo meets the Harlem Globetrotters where they stayed at shaggy’s uncle Nat’s place?
A video on the globetrotters episodes is actually on my list of videos to do next!
@@Scoobytopia awesome sauce
Growing up, this was my favourite Scooby-Doo movie post-Zombie Island. Mainly because I was into cryptozoology at the time, I'm British so I like seeing my country get representation in classic American media regardless of cultural accuracy and it was released in 2004 - a year I regarded as important for me and the entire world. Does it hold nowdays? The important thing is the memories we made along the way!
Yeah they found out the Loch Ness monster is actually a Greenland shark, River monsters proved it
One of my favorites Scooby-Doo movies
But were is the small island were dumbledore s white grave is in the middle of the loch
@@andreatrillo4026 Excusme you Talking about this movie or you Talking about harry potter 🤨
@@PrimalElf sorry
@@PrimalElf well Scottcia is were scooby and the gang see the Loch Ness monster
@@PrimalElf but the only thing missing is the small island in the middle of the loch where they filmed the deathly hollows were Voldemort steals the elder wand from dumbledore s grave
I recently discovered your channel and I love it. If you could do a video covering scooby doo and the alien invaders that would be absolutely awesome if you take requests. That movie has and always will be my favorite scooby doo movie of all time. It was the 2nd scooby doo movie I ever saw as a kid and the vhs tape was the 1st scooby doo movie I ever got to keep. Cyber chase was the 1st scooby doo movie I saw as a kid. In my current scooby doo movie collection I have 4 copies of scooby doo and the alien invaders 1 vhs and 3 dvds.
I briefly cover those first four movies in the Monster of Mexico video I made and I'm not sure if I will touch on them further, at least right now, since so much has already been said on them and I don't know if there's anything else I could bring to the table :) if I ever find an angle to use I'll certainly do it though :) The next video covers another one of the movies and should be out in the next couple of weeks, so hopefully you like the ones that I do get to!
@@Scoobytopia OH I love any new scooby doo stuff. I did a bit of scooby doo stuff on my channel a few years ago I think the only movies I have yet to cover are the live action movies. I have only seen those first 2 since those are the only ones I own.
I've got some 70s episode coverage planned after the next one to shift away from any of the movies again and space things out at least. I try to keep the videos having a focus topic or drive instead of only tackling a singular piece so it keeps things interesting unless it's a shorter form like the first two 🥰
@@Scoobytopia Sounds like a great idea.
Daphne is a greek name id love to see daphne's rando greek cousin show up. The last name Blake is anglo-norman who settled in Hibernia aka Ireland and scotland so her scottish sometimes irish heritage is still acxurate
Would definitely work out since Shaggy had movies about being both related to King Arthur time as well as a cowboy, so exploring more of the Blake family is totally warranted lol
@@Scoobytopia i love how when they explore fred's family he has some rando vanilla uncle in wisconsin
Amphibians are also ectothermic so what Velma says doesn't make sense. I guess none of the writers did their herpetology research.
I had the DVD with the special features as well! Loved it as a kid. Was always shocked that it got a bad rep. Do you plan on doing any of the 2011+ era movies (Camp Scare, Abracadabra Doo, etc) any time soon?
I've got several things I want to get out of the way before any of those directly, but one of the longer ones should be including one of them when I get to that!
I cannot express how much Velma stating that Nessy is an amphibian gives me joy. I love her so much (In a gay way).

tbh hearing you say "Shanon" made me do a few double takes
Scary stories about the Loch Ness monster.
The movie was so much better. The loch Ness monster is one of the most famous cryptids in the world so it makes sense Scooby Doo would cover it, plus it is a essentially a land dragon that lives in the water. There is so much you can do with that concept and the movie truly makes it seem like a threat. I also liked the ending showing the real loch Ness monster because it is respectful to not just dismiss something that has been in the Scottish culture for a long time.
I remember watching the scooby doo movie with bobby flay and the ghost scared me so much
I hate you Fred (affectionate)
Well I really do love the Loch Ness monster it’s not a disappointment that the Loch Ness monster will the real one that we just saw its tail at the end but also yeah so if you’re not know there’s other lake monsters in different parts of the country in Maryland (my home state)In the Chesapeake Bay we have Chelsea who is basically the American version of the Loch Ness monster
Oh so it’s kind of funny that the famous picture of the Loch Ness monster was just a cardboard Head shaped like a long neck dinosaur attached to a toy submarine in the lake it’s kind of funny also the footprint was also modes of hippo footprints
Also maybe Scooby and the gang could go to other places that have famous Cryptids and other mythical creatures to me I really want to see Scooby and the gang seen the flatwoods monster
@@elijahzilla619 why are u so ignorant america dosent need anything done for it u have enough
So this is basically thta episode of Gravity Falls
The CGI doesn't look that bad at least Nessie herself doesn't look that bad. Some of the other CGI is dated, but she doesn't look too bad. I love her design so much, pretty terrifying. This is the only Scooby-Doo movie that scared me. I'm afraid of deep water and the thought of a very large animal swimming beneath me terrifies me. This is actually my second favorite Scooby movie after the 2002 live-action film.
Is kinda weird that the body of the mystery machine sinks but when the gang go in the swamp there feet deep
Okay i Gotta say this. I read a children’s books adaptation (in my language indonesian) of this movie, and there nessie looks more green in the illustration
Shannon is dephine's what?
17:54: Compared to the previous Pooh movies? I highly doubt it. If it was a "wonderful film", it wouldn't have sucked so bad to the point of the Disney Company switching to CGI forever.
Personally, I saw it in theaters and still love it to this day.
Say what you want I loved the lockness movie Scooby doo loves Scotland for some reason but I am not complaining
This review was DA BOMB DIGGITY.
7:11 I take choir in high school and last year we sang loch lomond
I honestly think that some of the straight-to-dvd movies are just reboots of those older episodes. Essentially having a "look how far we have come and evolved" moment that artists tend to have when they remake one of their older pieces of art.
I love your videos so much keep up the good work man
This was awesome! One of my favorite scooby movies im so binging! Subbed💕
I love Scooby Doo and the Loch Ness Monster. Even the awful CGI doesn’t ruin it for me!
I really like this movie to be honest, I didn't know it was so mixed
the water horse movie downright tramatized me
That is literally just a hippopotamus with a long neck.

I remember watching this briefly as a young lad I should probably get to rewatch this soon also last year I got legend of the vampire on dvd I just need to get monster of Mexico as well annyways though great overall overview of this movie makes me really want to rewatch it soon some time
Shaggy, this is not Mary Poppins. Mary Poppins isn't even Scottish.
I love Loch Ness Monster .
I love when there’s actual supernatural stuff
enjoyed review you did , had watched film before watched your video , i have 4 film set version of this
Great video dude. What's next?
My ragw at velma saying ectothermic and amphibious cant mix annoys me. And yeah I do know I spelled rage wrong and I don't care.
Love the video and yeah the music was lack except for the first chase sense
This movie was always one of my favorites. I’d say it still is. But yeah, the CGI is so bad. IIRC, this and the Egypt movie are the only ones to use CGI monsters and it SUCKS.
Covering that one next, and I'm sure I will have words for the CGI again 😢🫣
@@Scoobytopia That movie started an annoying trend of shipping off Shaggy and Scooby onto their own subplots mid-movie. I’m not a fan lol
Yeah, Chill Out and Goblin King especially bored me growing up and that probably had a lot to do with it 😬
@@Scoobytopia Oh, those two are two of my least favorite Scooby movies. Especially Goblin King. Not only is it a Shaggy/Scooby solo adventure, Velma is on her “the supernatural isn’t real even though I almost got killed by Cat People” bull, and it has the cliche “only Scooby and Shaggy know the truth” ending. 🙄
Yeah, I'm not big into fantasy already and Goblin King having so much baggage on top just didn't do it for me. Samurai Sword when I revisited it in 2020 held up better than I remembered but is still at the bottom of the list with them for me. I'm glad the reboot of the movies switched things up again and revitalized them because this section got stale fast. Pirates Ahoy was the only one I watched as much as ones like Loch Ness, probably because of my Bermuda Triangle fascination at the time haha
I love this
personally I don't believe in Bigfoot or any of those monsters but if one of those do exist that one will be the loch ness monsters i think. and that's the only one I believe in.
It was just announced this week that they found evidence that could lead to her possibly existing. Because it's fun to believe in, I will continue to assume she's out there, somewhere.
@@Scoobytopia that's cool

It's possible Nessie surviving member Plesiosaur or Elasmosaurus
Welcome to Scotland oh yeah why DNA is basically Scotland and Irish so yeah I’m kind of like London
Yeah so last year ago Netflix was having the new Scooby Doo what’s new Scooby Doo show and it was good but somehow it’s now gone I don’t know why it was gone maybe the legal rights to have Scooby Doo in Netflix
At least in America, it's streaming on HBO Max now! Like Mystery Incorporated and other Scooby titles previously on Netflix, once the rights Netflix had expire Warner is putting them on their own service they didn't have when those first went streaming.
@@Scoobytopia Yeah boy
Man what is Scooby and the gang also met a number creature from London so there’s a number creature known as Springhill Jack and people has said that she looks like the devil himself with fireballs for eyes breathe in blue fire but he can also jump very high but here’s a fact did you know he was also the first and oldest superhero before Superman
Oh so the CGI model of th Nessie reminds me of Godzilla singular point almost has a CGI monster similar to Godzilla Ultima or The Rodan swarm
I watched the hell out of this movie as a kid. Scotland has always been an interest which ironically enough I have some Scottish blood in me
