OMG you got a Bob Ross result with that blue dripping down to that handle! Thank you for sharing this. So many times I feel defeated, and then all you see are awesome results on UA-cam which reinforces my defeat. I appreciate your real video, and I love your cloud mugs. are these thrown items? or pre-made bisqueware? PS I love your red-ombre mugs, perfect for Hot Cocoa ANYtime of year! Thank you again and Happy New Year!
Thank you for your comment! I’m definitely not a perfect potter and I feel like it’s important to show the good, the bad, and the ugly lol. I feel honored that you’d think my mugs are pre-made, but I made them all on the wheel. Happy New Year!
Those are some of the nicest glazes I've seen, sure the dripping is a pain but the results are beautiful. We have a large pottery community here but never has there been any results as nice or varied. Good luck on finding a way to manage the drips. Thanks for showing some wonderful work.
These are great! Definitely need some cookies, bc I love the drippy stuff. As you know it's all part of learning and perfecting process. That's pottery, and it's so fun to do (IMHO). Thanks for sharing!
So glad to have found your channel - drips and all! If these look gorgeous on screen, I can only only imagine they’re stunners in person. Is grinding them down an arduous task? Maybe a video on fixing/grinding the drips could be helpful to the rest of us? Good luck with it. Thanks for sharing your beautiful work. Already looking forward to more videos.
Yes grinding them down took a few hours! I’m sure I’ll get more drips in the future so I’ll have to make a video about it! Thank you for your kind comment!
Hey i know u! I'm glad that I found your channel. Would you please share how you set up your water system at home? And, what preparation that you need to do when you get your kiln. Im going to set up my in home pottery studio. Thanks a lot 🙏
Some really neat combinations with really good explanations of what you did. You have a challenge to gain control over the drips and still come out with similar results. Advancer shelves would do really well for you, only thing is you will still have to grind the drips off the mugs. Looking forward to more videos from you. Thanks for sharing! Cheers...Freddie
Normally I’ll get just a tiny bit of dripping but that firing was so excessive! I think I just did too many coats on almost every piece. I’ve been wanting the advanced shelves but I need to save up for them! Hopefully I’ll get some soon. Thanks for your comment-Luke
@@cosmic.clayco Definitely make yourself some kiln cookies. Just really thin pieces of clay that you dry between two pieces of sheet rock and place them under your pots so the glaze drips onto the little patty instead of your shelf!!!
What beautiful pots!!! Your handles are all amazing!! Did your kiln get hotter than you had programmed it for? Maybe that’s why you got so many drips? Definitely get some witness cones to make sure it’s firing correctly. Also make sure to use test tiles! Test test test!!
Beautiful mugs. Nice work. Sorry about the drips. That is frustrating after you put in all that work. I hate drips. What will you different next time? How many coats did you put on? And how much did you overlap?
Thank you! I definitely just glazed way too thick. I must’ve done 3 thick coats of each glaze all the way to the bottom. Next time I’ll do less coats of glaze as it gets closer to the bottom to leave room for the top to drip. I normally overlap by around 1/4-1/2 of an inch. Hope this helps!
At about 5:40 you talk about throwing away the bad ones. I would just take them the next time I go to a fair and put out a blanket of "oops" for free or cheap. Some people will still use them, or take the time to grind off the extra. You never know.
I normally do an 8 minute hold and everything about the firing was fine. I definitely just overglazed. Since I brush I’m always worried that I’m not putting enough on so I way over did it that time😂
@@cosmic.clayco hahah well as you know, its a CONSTANT learning process. Usually my results of experimentation are quite disasterous lol looks like you had good kiln wash at least
I had to come back here and ask you what kind of kiln wash you use as well as how thick it is? Is it pretty thick? I’ve never actually seen anyone’s glaze drip onto the kiln shelf and come off as if you had advanced shelves!!
I wish I could tell you exactly which one it was but I through away the packaging over the weekend! I do know for a fact that it was from the ceramic shop .com and it was their brand. I hope this helps!!
I love watching this video, it’s like I’m just having a conversation with a friend instead of watching a plain ol video :)
Thanks so much for saying that!😁
@@cosmic.clayco of course! Thanks for the videos :D

Agreed! Very cool! Thank you for sharing. Oatmeal is very good for flux and drippy goodness.
Thank you!!
Nicely done. Appreciate sharing. Like glazes presented in type on screen and mention of glaze brands.
Thanks!😁

even though its a mistake, the running glaze, but to me it looks like the mug is coming out from any surface you place it on. i loved them
Thanks so much! That’s a cool way to look at it!
Beautiful mugs!! I hope you were able to grind the bottoms to save most of them.
Thank you! I was able to save them for the most part!

did your kiln over fire? pr was the hold longer than normal? Did you use cones? I am curious why your glaze ran so much this time

I really should test glazes before I do them on my pieces but I never do haha. I feel like every kiln load is an experiment
