I met Junkyard Dog at Walmart one day. He was Loss Prevention at Walmart and took a day to sign autographs for people walking into the store. Sadly no one knew who he was. I was a huge fan of 80's wrestling and I spotted the dog without his chains smiling at everyone that walked in. I had the pleasure of talking with him and he really was a nice guy..... RIP Dog!
I had the unique opportunity to actually meet him in person back in 1986 after a WWF house show in Portland, Oregon. he was very friendly and treated me kindly during our 5 minute chat
He was my first favorite wrestler. I remember in 1984 getting a JYD t-shirt as a Christmas present. I was 7 years old. I loved that more than the Atari and other toys I got. Even the Mr. T action figure.
I found out that he was cousins grandfather meaning im related to him and I wish that I would've been able to see him before he died and now that I've discovered this I've been watching his old matches and it's amazing and brings tears to my eyes confirming we do live in a small world
Junkyard Dog was great....but to make Bobo Brazil a footnote is just wrong. He was undoubtedly the first superstar black wrestler and, unlike the Dog, he did reach the mountaintop
He was a big draw in his day not the world's first Black super star Tony Atlas drew more money over his career and similar money in the years the dog was working .as a wrestler the dog was quite limited and in the wwf because of his in ring limitations he had to be paired with capable opponents to get the best out of the dog .but people loved him he had the it factor. If he had put the time and effort into being a better pro wrestler instead of doing coke he would have been a world Champion a Great one He climbed the Mountain but slipped just before reaching the peak .
Where does Junkyard Dog rank among your favorite wrestlers of all time?

Stop lying
I appreciate that @thelooper are covering stories about wrestlers
One of the first wrestlers I ever watched on TV.
this guy was a beast.I saw him getting inducted to hall of fame in 04'
The look of regret on their faces whenever another wrestler would try to head butt him. 😂
Sounds like a Dark Side of the Ring episode!
You got it.
