How To Power Snatch w/ Zack Telander

Поділитися
Вставка
  • Опубліковано 15 сер 2024
  • In this video, Zack Telander teaches Alan Thrall how to power snatch. The power snatch might be easier to coach and learn than the power clean. It is an underrated movement that can be added to any routine.

    1) muscle snatch(strict, lead w elbows)
    2) same as last but catch at top
    3) hips back, pin bar, find toes, go
    4) contact drill (set same as last, let bar come out, snap w arms and pull up and not in, let bar rattle, as you progress get into flow)
    5) contact high pull>contact snatch>low(below knee)contact snatch
6)touch n go reps(top down, helps not yank)
    7) eccentric reps(slowww down, grab bar, go, hips above knees, shoulders above hips, shoulders covering bar)
Back and forth thru progression until 👌

Thanks for putting this kinda stuff up. I drive a truck so my "functional movement facility" is limited to a barbell and some bands. Although I may add an amazon mobile squat rack... Aka blunt guillotine. Just gotta figure out how to modify it so I don't die.
After 5 years of sitting for 14hrs a day it's caught up. And I'm pushing 40 years old. So... Again thanks for this type of content. I'm 2 months into eating food I make (harder than you might think on a truck) 1 month into lifting and one month into TRT. I feel like a completely different person.

I've always liked power snatches, but haven't been programming it in much lately due to my current gym lacking bumper plates. Anyway, the point of contact had been inconsistent for me and just the other day I was working in some one arm barbell snatches and it just aligned perfectly for me as I shifted away from the mindset of shooting my hips forward and focused more on accelerating upwards through triple extension, which naturally brings the bar in contact with the hip when the timing is right. I haven't been back to see how this translate to the regular two-handed variant, but over the years has noticed when it felt right and when I was simply brute strengthing it up. Think my hand position my be hindering me as the bar may not be at the right height during my second pull, but that's something I'll have to work on next time I hit the gym.
