    This is a very good discussion. Nice to hear three guys with differing views talk without yelling at each other. Gives me hope for the political process in this fractured country. Thanks guys.

    Question for next episode.
    What happens to Jagmeet if the NDP lose both by-elections? As Jagmeet has placed high expectations in the Quebec By-election, and they are defending an NdP stronghold in Manitoba.

    • @Griff1984
      @Griff1984 2 місяці тому +1

      I honestly think David has to a certain degree already answered that question. Right now the NDP are not looking to win and just have 'one of their own' as leader. Thats why they booted Muclair but keep Singh on with his less than stellar record.
      If the party wants to win and reverse back to more of a rural working class party than they will change leaders. Right now it seems they like losing while catering to the urban progressives.

    Dear Scott,
    I'm sad to see you upset by attacks from your fellow Liberals. The raw, ugly honesty of your despair at recent Liberal behaviours is what convinced me this show was worth subscribing to. That the governing party & proponents would be upset by such a candid depiction of reality is why your unfiltered self matters so much to me.

    Come Monday evening, the Trump - Elon Musk interview is going to make "weird" very cool and make the democrats look old and tired and so yesterday.... Trump aligning himself with cool stuff likeTesla, EV's, Solar, Spacex rockets, AI, Starlink, Neurolink, free speech on Twitter is a very smart political move. Better yet, if Trump gets in, it will give Musk an edge against his competitors at google, Meta etc. Looking forward to Scott's and David's hair on fire;-)

    • @stratford374
      @stratford374 2 місяці тому +3

      To paraphrase Mean Girls, quit trying to make wacko happen.
      Poilievre has been trying to make that catch on and it's cringy. It was clearly an attempt to try and bait the speaker by repeating it over and over. And it failed.
      By contrast "weird" happened organically and picked up steam fast.

    • @Griff1984
      @Griff1984 2 місяці тому +3

      IMHO they could have talked political strategy about the markets and skipped the 'weird' strategy. The markets will matter more come election time than some fancy one word slogan.

    • @stratford374
      @stratford374 2 місяці тому

      @Tomyum19 I really have to disagree. And to back that up I'll say there's no coverage of "wacko". It's not in the zeitgeist. Aside from Poilievre repeating it ad nauseam and a selection of terminally online twitter trolls, wacko has not entered Canadian political vernacular.
      Weird is taking the US political landscape by storm over the last two weeks. It's getting widespread coverage, it's adopted as a talking point outside of the Harris campaign and, most importantly, has created a massive reaction from Trump, the republican party and the conservative media echo system.
      Wack is just Poilievre trying to invent a meme. It's forced and contrived and it hasn't caught on.

    The "weird" attack line is... weird coming from the people going 110% on the trans stuff, and who insist that 12yo kids be shown a graphic depiction of anal sex (This Book Is Gay), and believe that "Yes, kink belongs at Pride. And I want my kids to see it."
    Having said that, I think it's useful precisely for helping defuse that criticism of Dems. Sometimes whoever gets in with the line first makes it stick.

    • @stratford374
      @stratford374 2 місяці тому

      Well that's an.. interesting.. narrative you've created in your head. None of it is true. But I'm sure you fervently believe that.
      I can see you firmly call in the "weird" category yourself. Keep spending your days thinking about other people's genitals, bud.

    • @stratford374
      @stratford374 2 місяці тому

      @Tomyum19 Receipts would be sources, links, references.
      Not random buzzwords you heard on Rogan or Twitter.
      The only people "going 110% on trans stuff" are weird right wing nut jobs obsessed with other people's genitals.
      Nobody is insisting 12 year olds be shown graphic material. People are insisting that teenagers be allowed to learn about sexuality and gender.
      Nobody is demanding their kids see "kinks" at Pride.
      You folks live in a ridiculous made up rage baiting fantasy land. It's a sad, strange world.

    • @stratford374
      @stratford374 2 місяці тому

      "I'm not weird! You're weird! And you're weird for calling me weird!"
      The only one thinking about trans kids is you bud. Spend less time worry about children's genitals and more time on things that directly impact your life.

    In defense of BC United, they had to change their name. The party hadn't been associated with the Federal Liberals for a long time, and most of their voters/members were federal conservatives near the end of the Clark government. It made no sense to keep the old name.
    The poor rollout and Falcon's weak leadership are more to blame than the name change itself. With a more aggressive name rollout and stronger leadership, they could have been where the BC Conservatives are right now. Unfortunately, it's too late for that now, but the name change itself was not the main issue.

    • @Griff1984
      @Griff1984 2 місяці тому +2

      Not letting Aaron Gunn run in the leadership was the beginning of the end for the BC Liberals. Aaron is now running federally and his behind the scenes political buddies took over the BC Conservative party.

    • @Griff1984
      @Griff1984 2 місяці тому +2

      @Tomyum19 The BC Conservatives might not win but will be excellent opposition if they lose. They are at least setting themselves up to be a ruling party in 2028.
      Also Aaron Gunn has an excellent chance to win the upper Vancouver Island district he is set to run in.

      I voted for the name change as Trudeau has made the liberal brand toxic but you’re on point about Falcon squandering the opportunity. I supported Ellis Ross for leader and believe we would have a near lock on the election with his leadership.
