I took an adult refrigeration class to get my license to handle chlorinated refrigerants and to be able to gain some knowledge about HVAC-R systems and how they work. The instructor was a very intelligent and practical man and he told us that you can read all you want to about how things work but until you get your hands on the unit itself you won't fully understand. He told us that "I have learned more about this stuff using a hammer and a hacksaw than I ever learned from a book." He would cut compressors and other parts of the unit apart to see what was actually taking place as the unit ran. You do an excellent job with your commentary and I glean a lot of information from your videos. When I start watching a video and it fast forwards through disassembly of a piece of machinery while playing some abstract music I move on.

Ty Warren , glad you study your systems & share info. I'm old school & got to know how it works, with out that knowledge your not a real mechanic in my mind.
Like I've worked plant maintenance where , did most of the welding, tons electrical trouble shooting , plumbing , hydraulics and pnudraulics .
But people think o you just cut the grass n shoveled walks, um Never.
Cost 1400$ a minute keep that place running, had to be on your toes at all times.
Man how I so appreciate watching you.
I'm old retired now(not by choice) , if I was still working , think I'd require my guys to watch you.

I have attended a manufacturer training school and you actually hit on their main focus, sell more parts because that's where the profit margin is best. I've watched you figure out how to repair things keeping in mind that the owner isn't made of money. Great job!!! May you and your family have a very merry Christmas. ⛄

I watch your videos to learn how to fix our own equipment. I am a farmer first and a guy who likes to fix it myself, so music and fast forward doesn’t help. The commentary, the odd funny story and the scenery also make the videos good to watch. Don’t change a thing as far as I am concerned. Have a good Christmas with your family Warren.

in your rant concerning "how did you learn" some folk just go to fix and repair, but you go after the " WHY did it do that ? " and then fix it . It appears from my view of you , every job is like a plane crash , not one thing cased the event , a series of issues caused the event. You mention early on in this video , cheap , wrong oils , then it is down hill from there. Great educational videos !

Nothing more impressive in a shop than to see a transmission completely disassembled. I've known a lot of good mechanics that wanted nothing to do with an automatic. Too many pieces. I learned by getting a service manual and digging in. Mistakes will be made but that's how you learn best. Great video.

Well, I was paying diligent attention to you until the dogs came in and stole the show. I was all settled down to try ( once again) and grasp the sun gear, planetary gear, clutch pack relationships of a JD transmission as presented by you, the Master of all things Green. Warren and the Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson are the most interesting two people when talking about the relationships of objects in motion and they both have the skills and knowledge to to convert theory into a practical language and visual product for the rest of us. Thanks for another interesting year. Best of the holiday season to you and your family.

Merry Christmas, Warren. Your videos are so instructional that without ever have torn that transmission apart a person could use your video and other transmission videos on your channel to take one apart without fear of the unknown. Your voice overlay really helps the viewer understand the function of every piece. I still say you could sell your videos to schools and shops as expert how to videos. Kids with short attention spans learn best with videos like yours. And this dumb nut, as my dad used to say, watches every minute of your videos trying to learn everything you teach. A great Sunday morning video. Thanks so much, Warren!

I just wanted to stop in and say hello and tell you I love your videos I've been binge-watching them back several years because you remind me of my brother-in-law when he's going to fix up and he fixes it right or he don't touch it at all and he knows what he's doing and he knows what makes it work and how it works before he even touches it but he's a Hands-On mechanic just like I am I've never taken any vehicle I've ever owned and I'm damn near sixty the any shop I've always fix them myself if I didn't know what it was how it got a book and I read it and figured out what was the matter and fixed it and I think you're right it people's attention span is a little bit shorter nowadays than it used to be but anyhow I have a Merry Christmas love you videos

You need a low bench to set the transmissions on too. You already had back trouble and you shouldn't be bent over working on those. A steel top table built with a slight angle to allow oil to drain into a container is used in many transmission shops.

Warren, you observations are spot on mate. Been doing this job for 45 years and its getting worse these days. The skills are diluted as we just become component changers. I find that the younger generation are not so hands on and just watch and not do and learn. Most stand and watch with hands in pockets. You're exactly right about people's attention spans. That's why youtuber's edit the shit out of their videos, adding stupid back round music and other effects. They're for entertainment purposes only. They try to incorporate drama and excitement to keep the viewer from moving onto the next new shiny object. The History Channel use to show cool WWII documentaries, now it's all reality TV shit. Gotta dumb it down for the masses.

Thank you so much! I am considering to buy JD and understanding how complex system the gearbox is is very important. Tradtional (R+2)*4 or 2x(5+R) gearboxes are simple. If there is something wrong you can feel it easily. One can separate defect clutch and missing gear. But this green shuttle is a different kind of an animal. It'd be great to have 24+24R though.
