I can't even imagine how cold that must feel. I live in the Caribbean. Thanks for the videos. It's really interesting to learn and see how you do things there. Stay safe
Hi Maria , first, thank you for your very well done videos. As a youngster in Michigan, we ice fished with minnows and jigs - however - never stayed out in such cold like you guys. Now we live in Southern USA and fishing is from boat or from the banks. Enjoy your videos very much, please keep up the good work - peace & health to you and yours.
Thank you for good video. In Japan, we also fish on iced pond. The fish we catch on iced pond is named "Wakasagi", very small fish. We eat deep fried wakasagi on iced pond and they are very nice!
I life in the countryside of Indonesia. In my hometown, the river always warm and never got freeze (even the water doesn't feel cold at all). What a beauty side of the world you have there. So delightful to watch. I wish I can go there someday, even to just feel the snow dropping in my hair😂
In 2018 I've spend some time at Yakutsk (june). Love the city, but the surrounding nature even more. Pristine, untouched and unspoiled. Enjoyed it very much and saving money now to come back. Like the information and insight you are giving us about living in the coldest city in the world. Keep on going. Greetings from Holland, Europe.
Some comments have mentioned fish houses and skid houses, let me give a bit more detail. In some states in the US, especially in Minnesota, where it sometimes goes to -40, they do ice fishing. It's called the land of 10,000 lakes. They actually have little houses that they slide out onto the lakes, and fish through a hole in the floor. They have beds and stoves, and sometimes satellite TV. Americans love technology for fishing. Although sometimes people fish as simply as what you show.
I’ ve just subscribed today.I learned about Yakutia from my sons book(the coldest place on earth) and luckily my husband advised me to watch your videos.great to have chance to learn more about Yakutia. Many thanks from Turkey.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It’s beyond of my imagery..I faced the lowest temperature here in Bangladesh was 5.6 degree celcius.. The way you guys fishing it’s totally new for me.. Love to watch your videos.. And love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Your channel is so interesting and informative! I have lived in America all my life, and have never seen a living environment as cold as yours. I love learning about new things around the world and thanks to your channel I learn a little something new everyday!
My husband discovered your channel today. Your life is fascinating. We live near the east coast of North Carolina, USA. There is a lot of fishing here, in the Neuse River, the Core Sound, Bogue Sound, and the Atlantic Ocean. There is no ice on our waterways, so no ice-fishing. Some stand on the pier, the riverbank, the beach or boat dock to fish. Many fish from boats of all sizes. We also have commercial fishing boats (trawlers) that use nets to catch shrimp, blue crabs, and little menhaden fish that are used to make fishmeal for dog-food and other animals. They are not good eating fish. I am not a fisherman, but the fish I can think of that are caught here are Red Drum, Spanish Mackeral, lots of Flounder, Bass, White and Blue Marlin, mullet, Bluefish, Tarpon, Mahi-Mahi, Red Snapper, and more. Also people rake up Mussels and Scallops in the sounds. How do you speak English so well?
We ice fish here in washington state on the eastside of the mountains on the coastal side it doesn't get cold enough to freeze the lakes. Our ice doesn't get as thick as yours!!! But its mostly the same, we drill the hole, and we mostly have different kinds of trout in our lakes here. It looks like our poles and lures are similar as well :). Really enjoying your videos, thank you and Blessings from the USA
Thank you very much for introducing the culture of your country and part of your family. I imagine how difficult it is to fish in Yakutia and the fish soon freeze. Here in Brazil it seems easier to me, we have rivers everywhere, but we have to be careful with the fish due to the heat.
I can't wait to go ice fishing again. I usually start around April, all the way into June. Minus 44C isn't that bad, you just need to use home-made clothing, or wear layers. The only thing I would worry about in minus 40 are my toes.
One of the things i really like to do in the winter, often quite the same as you did but also with worms on the hooks 🪝🙂 other times we fish with passive hooks like in the video with the burbout. Im still impressed with how little clothes you put on when you went out fishing as it is such a passive thing to do. I often wear my downjacket on top of my normal winter clothes and sometimes to stay extra toasty i replace the second layer with a heated vest ( heated with from a powerbank ) and a rarely fish under -20 c 🎣😊
The fish your husband caught we call havka (pike). The fish you caught we call vuosku (bass or perch). In another video I saw you caught harri (grayling), çuovssa (don't know the English name but it is silver and very tasty). Also dabmug (trout). We also catch njahka (sweet water cod - burbot), and ravdo (arctic char) - very beautiful fish with red belly and white fins and blue/green upper. We also fish from icy lakes like you did in the video, and in the summer with sun light the whole night. Very nice to be out with family and friends and experience nature.
OMG!!!!! I thought that living here in Seattle Wa is cold, what am I whining about. Temperature in the negatives BRRRR, BRRRR, BRRRRRR. I won’t complain again. Lolz. Thank u for letting us see a tiny bit of how the people in the COLDEST region lives. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I live in North Dakota in the USA right up by the Canadian border when i was younger I use to ice fish all the time in the winter when i could always caught a lot of fish I always enjoyed it now i'm 72 years old and can't take the cold much anymore I miss it.
We used to ice fish in Canada a lot in winter, too. It was a big sport in Manitoba. And it was cold there as well. We walked to school every day, but the school was closed if it went below minus 50 degrees Celsius. Wonderful sound of crunching snow under one's boots!
I just discovered you and I’m so glad! I always thought that people who lived in such low temperatures stayed always at home, I would never imagined that there were outdoor activities and even people sleeping in tents 😱 the lowest temperature I experimented in my life was -10 degrees Celsius and I thought I would freeze to death😅 I am so amazed by your life style and culture, please keep showing us such interesting content! (Sorry for my bad English)
As a native English speaker, I think your English in this comment was very good, don't worry. Language is all about communication. We don't need to be perfect, we just need to understand each other. 😊💙
Looks so beautiful there (rather chilly too hehe) and the process of ice fishing is really interesting. thank you for sharing ~greetings from California
Hello from Mohawk ,New york, U.S.A.! We ice fish here too, although we have to wait until january for the water to freeze. We use tip ups and jigging poles, minnows and, grubs.Like your channel and stay warm! Good luck fishing!
Dear Masha, thank you for your video. I really enjoy when you show scenes where people and nature act for themselves with their natural sound or language. Then it feels like participating in the moment. I also like your short, explaining subtitles or comments. In short: the pureness and appreciation you share with us is really precious and unique. Stay safe and as you are. Much love from Germany. Ps.: Would you share your recipe for fish soup? (Or did you already and I didn't see it?)
I'm glad I live in Australia. I get cold just looking at Yakutia. We get 44C here in summer ( January) but we don't freeze like you do. Oh well, stay well and safe.
I would like to know more about the art hanging from mirror in car when you went spin cast fishing. Something like a dream catcher. And what were the types of fish caught both spin casting and ice fishing. Ice fishing is pretty popular in Michigan but I am not robust enough to tolerate the cold. All fishing is popular in Michigan. We have competative bass fishing in the river snd salmon fishing here attracts people from far away. I think it is coho salmon said to be the best of the salmon. Thsnk you for the beautiful videos.
I just found your channel and I enjoy it very much! Thanks for sharing your culture and way of life! Also that fish soup looked delicious, maybe you could please share some recepies in a video,I would love to learn some new type of cooking! Greetings from Italy!
I have never ice fished before cause in San Diego, California there is no ice, unless you're up in the mountains high in elevation. I take my 23.5 foot boat out to sea to fish offshore. We go out like 30-plus miles to try to catch mahi mahi, yellowfin tunas, bluefin tunas and yellowtails, just to name a few. We also have lakes and rivers to catch trout, largemouth bass, crappies, catfish and various species of panfish. Needless to say San Diego is really great for fishing year round cause it hardly gets cold out here. We have an average temperature of 70 degrees fahrenheit. I guess we pay a lot for getting to live in great weather most of the time. You guys are really dedicated to your fishing. What fish are those that you caught? It was kind of hard to tell from the videos of the frozen fish. Love your content. Keep the videos coming so that I can enjoy your experiences of what you and your family are doing in Yakutsk.
Just stumbled upon your channel and have watched some videos about your life up North! It is definitely a region of the planet that is not in the media much, hence it is super exciting to watch your videos!! Thank you so much for sharing how you live, about traditions but also normal stuff such as how a supermarket looks like. Gives me the travel bugs!! Greetings from Germany :)
In Oklahoma in the USA we just hunt when it’s very cold. Or some people have a dock that has a wood stove in it. The ice is never thick enough to walk on.
We r blessed we stay in India (south Indian) Banglore my Allah grace we get everything easily np for anytg aftr watcg ur videos in I feel so blessed to born in India
I was once live a northern state where a temperature drop down to -20 C one time and I recalled the car gas pedal of the car loss it's spring function and needs to pull it up manually with the foot. Unbelievable how people can stand living there in this kind of temperature and weather.
That's a very convenient hand drill. 😄😄 Can't imagine life out there in winter, nevertheless your videos is an inspiration, no matter how hard life is you have to keep going.. Keep uploading more videos, lots of ❤ from Nagaland, India.
My uncle loves the weather in the winter but hate in the summer. I am not crazy when temp drops below -45c. I too stayed inside of the car and got the heat at maximum. We had to spent the night because I ran the car all day and ran out of gas. But father & uncle were never mad.

Possibly the most charismatic lady on UA-cam, so honest and informative. Thank you for such entertaining videos

that view on the ice is insane!!
The sun doesn't get very high above the horizon at that time of year does it?
Great videos! Love your appreciation of life and gentleness. That river water looked incredibly clean! Well done on the fishing trip!
Congratulations on the fish you caught. It's good not to give up because you never know.

Well its -44 Degrees
Yep when you live in cold places, you learn to identify the temperature within 5 degrees just by the sound of the snow underfoot :)
I think i love the crunch of the snow ❄️ 😌
7:34 literally “Freezing” cold 🥶
Man Jesus Christ is real !

I never try ice fishing, just fishing in a boat at the ocean in Catalina Island CA. And that soup looks delicious!
Wow, absolutely beautiful
love your videos. How do you and your family deal with the little amount of light?
Ithink that could make an excellent video topic. There's very little daylight that far north @ that time of year.
Как красиво у вас зимой, судя по видео :)
I love fishing too but I never ice fish before. I fish from a boat for bass. Most of the time I fish for fun only and keep 1 or 2 once in a while.
Your English is so awesome -- a real accomplishment! Did you ever make a video explaining how you learned it? Very impressed -- from New York state.

After catching the fish, if you could show how you clean and cook, it will be nice
Great video 👍👍👍👍👍
Very nice. You lucky .😘
The ice fishing looks exactly the same as here in Sweden. I have never seen such a long ice drill before though. Guess the ice is not that thick here.
Would love to come there one day and ice fish.
Wow what a scenery

In Canada 🇨🇦 northern Ontario we have huts we bring on the lakes with heat and lots of beer
I am from Atlanta, Georgia and my Mom lives on the lake. There are large mouth bass. I have never been ice fishing
