    I use the pen tool for most selections, but is there a way to adjust the parameters that Photoshop uses to make selections? As of June 7, I am using Photoshop CC 2022 23.3.2 release, and my photoshop makes terrible selections using Select Subject. Like, truly abysmal. Not even slightly close.

    What happens when the subject has soft edges and it fades to white?
    This usually happens when the image is being focused in one area.
    It would be great if everyone shot product photography doing focus stacking but in most cases the entire subject is not in focus.
    The trouble I later have is putting the subject on a different color back ground and the subject's soft edges have white in them or some other color contaminant.
    Would love to see a tutorial how to handle that type of situation.

    • @ShawnMeilicke
      @ShawnMeilicke 2 роки тому

      Possibly adding some feather to the selection in that area could help with the transition, then you can try to manually paint to remove some of the contaminated colors. If you watch some of the videos PI has on selections he shows a lot of good ways to do that! Select and Mask has options for decontaminating colors as well, and using the different colored backgrounds available in it really helps you spot the contamination early on

    Hello, I'm an avid fan of yours, and I love your content, which helps a lot in having effective results in a very efficient way.
    I'd like to know if there's a way to solve my problem. I edit student photos, and since it's a pandemic, getting them close for a class picture isn't allowed. That's why I used their individual images to compose a Virtual like class picture. The problem is that every image has a different focal length, so some photos look bigger than others. So I adjust them one by one in Photoshop, and it looks great, but it consumes a lot of time since I'm editing many photos. I wonder if there's a way to crop all images based on focal length so that images are of a consistent size and proportion with their classmates. The first method would be to have a tripod in the photoshoot session and leave the focal length as it is from the beginning up to the very end, but what if we use a shotgun photoshoot style? Is there a way we can use it to fix it in post-production?
    I'm looking forward to you covering it up in your UA-cam content. I would appreciate any help you can provide.
