I had forgotten how poor Tim suffered the most in the book from the crashes of the car shaken by Rex and how he goes through the entire book with his nose and other parts of his body broken or bruised.
I’ve forgotten about the broken nose bit, God he must’ve been in such pain.😢 Not to mention Alan Grant Who had the wound on his chest which at least at the time made it hard for him to breathe, and he was one of the most active members!
I like how when the Juvenile Rex was close, all of the other creatures within its vicinity became silent. Almost as if even young Rexy was like a force to be reckoned with.
The adult Tyrannosaurs seem to ignore us I guess it’s like giving the option between a slim Jim or a steak, it’s the juveniles that gave us the trouble
I felt a little sorry for Regis. Yeah he was a coward who abandoned the kids and had to pay for it in the story, but he was the only one who had actually seen a dino attack so was right to be terrified.
I love the artistic renditions of the dinosaurs having eyes with no pupils It really adds to the horror aspect of it and that combined with the other aspect we know about the dinosaurs like them smelling like rotten flesh really makes it that much creepier
You know in the juvenile Rex’s eyes he was only playing roughly with Ed like they would’ve done with other members of their kind. But in Regis’ eyes he was terrified of a juvenile dinosaur toying with him and then starting to inflict pain just like a domestic cat with its prey. The gruesome and scary moments are like what make the novels more memorable than the movies. Could you do an illustrated version about the Lost World novel where The Velociraptors attack the high hide or Dodgson’s death by the infant t-Rex.
The rex was playing, but not like it would have with other members of its kind. Less kittens play fighting and more a kitten with an injured mouse its mother brought to it.
"I swear there was something funny in that horned, fuzzy, three-eyed hoofed thing." - T-Rex. Poor Asterik. She's gonna give it the worst case of the farts.
This juvenile Rex is way scarier than Baby from the Lost World (I know, it's older). He doesn't need parents to survive. He even steals food from Rexy, which might be accurate to some real life juvenile Rexes.
Nedry’s death in the book was pretty epic, for sheer terror, but this death is the one that left the heaviest impression on me. Poor Ed Regis. The juvenile tyrannosaur had played with him like a cat with a mouse that it’s caught. For the cat, it’s just a weird little comedy. For the mouse, though, it is a horror movie every second. Finally, when the cat gets bored, it kills the mouse. Also, poor Lex is within earshot of Regis’ final screams. A little girl hearing the kind of screams that can shake the nerves of even battle-hardened soldiers.
It's interesting how it's the Juvenile and not the Adult Rex that actually killed one of the characters. Big Rex spent her entire run killing other dinosaurs in the book. Also apparently she died in the river?
@@lochness5524 She did, mate. Last time we see her, she was feeling the tranq that Muldoon shot her with, and collapsing in the river. Then later on when Tim reboots the computers, the Dino Count shows 1 tyrannosaur and it's the juvenile in the video monitors. The big rex is dead.
Hard to say if she did since there's no explicit scene that could definably say she drowned or something of the sort. But regardless she and the juvie would still die anyway due to the bombardment of the island.
Yes it’s suspected that they had playful behavior in hunting in adolescence, this was to practice on testing the prey to see what it does maybe to learn so when the juvenile was playing with Regis and when he hit it she realized Regis wouldn’t put up much of a fight, “she learned then he was easy to kill”
Damn this part was intense in the book. The Juvenile could be out thier anywhere in the jungle. I mean u got the Big Rex walking around and now a smaller version is on the loose too? Could the night get any worse for these 3? :O
Yeah it gets even worse, the Rex follows and attacks them several times, they encounter the dilos and pterodactyls and then barely survive the raptors in the morning. What a weekend!!
Come to think of it, an adolescent Tyrannosaurus would be much more dangerous to people than an adult - while a grown T. rex would mostly ignore scrawny humans in favour of large herbivores, a human would fall squarely into the preferred prey size range for a juvenile. Just aks Ed Regis...

Would love to see you tackle more in this book that would be a hell of an audiobook/still movie experience (and if you take any requests would love to see the T-Rex river raft section
I keep forgetting there was a juvenile Tyrannosaurus in the first book. Also I'm surprised how quick and silent that juvenile was to be able to sneak around behind Ed Regis and knock him to the ground considering he moves with the ungainly gait of a puppy.
While I'm not sure about the quick part, the silent part is actually very accurate, since, T-Rexes had foot pads, and their growl was so deep that you couldn't hear it, but feel it...
This was awesome, keep up the good work! Also, I think someone else already said it, but it would be so cool if you animated the scene where Dodgson and Sarah are hiding together in the "Lost World."
