“Heroes are important. Heroes tell us who we want to be but when they made this particular hero they didn’t give him a gun, they gave him a screwdriver to fix things. They didn’t give him a tank or a warship or an X-Wing, they gave him a call box from which you can call for help and they didn’t give him a superpower or a heat-ray, they gave him an extra heart. And that’s extraordinary. There will never come a time when we don’t need a hero like The Doctor.” - Steven Moffat (Doctor Who 50th anniversary panel)
Screw you for making me cry.
I think Steven Moffat understood his characters essence more than anyone else ever did.
@@drd444 I agree. People don't like some of Moffats work, but you can never make everyone happy. When Peter and Steven teamed up, the two of them knowing the Doctor so well, it was magic. I love David as the Doctor, don't get me wrong, but Moffat and Peter were the best runner/Doctor duo.
That quote always my smile and cry at the same time, so thank you for posting it :D
Gr8 quote.
That line of Matt Smith saying “what’s the alternative, me standing over your grave?” To Amy cut in with him crying over Amy’s grave has officially killed me. I’m literally bawling right now
This... this is what UA-cam was made for.
Thank you!!

the scenes you picked?? the transition from topic to topic??? how it all flows??
this is truly a work of Art
Thank you sooo much!!!!
Totally true work of art yess
Agree so much! This video is just so good 😍
Seriously this is tremendous!
I'm amazed at how wonderfully you've captured the essence of the show. To show in twenty odd minutes a 55 year history is truly remarkable. This is proof beyond proof that despite the changes, hiatuses, cancellations and wobbly sets, Doctor Who is emphatically the same show today as the one that started so humbly as a mild curiosity in a junkyard all those years ago. This beautiful compilation reminds me how thankful I am that I tuned in to watch Rose that fateful day in March 2005.
Thank you so much!!! 🤗
And in three years we go to the 60 Anniversary. I can't wait to see What happens than. Can you ?
Mine was the two parter "End of Time". I... had no idea what was happening at the time. There was Emperor Skelator Palpatine, a Moonfall, cactus people (racist, I know), an Infinity Gauntlet. But there were parts that stuck with me.
"I think you look like giants."
"Wilf, it's my honour."
It was moments like those that made me think - after suffering a massive tragedy (of my own fault, I believe, even if nobody else does) that left me empty and in need of direction - "Yeah, that's kinda the type of person that I want to be. But let's see what else The Doctor has to say."
And, yeah... I'm a better man now. Still broken after almost half my life. But, I'm a better man that strives for kindness and compassion. 12 is my favorite, both because he's a lot like me and had my absolute favorite speeches which I continue to use as a yardstick for my morality.
So yeah. Doctor Who made me who I am today, and I thank it for that. Very much so.
“There’s no point in being a grown up if you can’t be childish sometimes.”
55 years of the greatest show and I wouldn’t miss it.
For the world...
BRAVO MARGARITA!

Torchwood boy I love your reaction videos so much! and margarita life, I use your videos to introduce my friends to doctor who! I love you both ❤️❤️❤️
Not amazing but absolutely fantastic
You can see how the doctor has dealt with the time war over the course of the show. The 9th doctor was fresh out of the war, the 10th and 11th were the man who regrets and the man who forgets. Capaldi was the first to know from the start that he hadn't destroyed Gallifrey although he still remembered it. With 13 we are truly entering a new era, more like the original premise of the show as she is the first one to have almost fully moved on from the time war.
13 the show ended on 12th
This is a piece of sheer genius. I've been watching Doctor Who on and off...and on again from 1978-1986 ( '86 was the year I left Michigan for California ).. and resumed it in 2007... I was going to say and the rest is Rock and Roll....and All That Jazz...but we know where it's going ( and coming from too..) Everything in this celebratory video sums it up perfectly, it doesn't matter if you're young, old or young at heart, Black or White, Hispanic or Asian, a Newbie, Casual or Fiercely Devoted fan, born in Great Britian, appreciated and enjoyed by everyone... everywhere. What an accomplishment..55 years, one Time Lord, 14 Faces... from William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker ,Peter Davison ,Colin Baker, Sylvester Mc.Coy ,Paul Mc.Gann ,John Hurt Christopher Eccleston ,David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi....and the lovely...and Current Doctor, Jodie Whittaker.. here's to the Men...and Woman.. who never stops running, but Stops the Monsters....and takes us along a journey...we will always remember...and will never forget... now, let's shift onwards to the 60th Anniversary... spoilers..too far ahead.... let's just keep the magic...and the adventures going a while longer. Margarita Life, congratulations on this brilliantly excellent Tribute Video... I 💞 it. 😊👏.
Thank you so much! ❤
That's a lovely comment and it's nice to hear someone who isn't hating on Whittaker
@@smileyfacehappiness5023 Amen to that my friend Amen.
This was probably the best 20 minutes of my life...
Like you, I grew up with Doctor Who (dipping in and out over the years) so I understand how big of a deal it is to a lot of people. You absolutely did the show justice: a great mix of classic and new clips, linking ideas together, so many continuity references and some awesome quotes - what a fantastic tribute! I can't imagine how long this must have taken you to put together; you should be proud!
Thank you so much! 😍😍😍😍😍
I'm so happy!!!
Margarita Life Yes thank you for including all of Doctor Who. When people do montages or trailers dedicated to the show, I rarely see it include both modern and classic.
I also grew up with Doctor Who and I don't want to think about a time where there will be no Doctor Who anymore. I think it will kill me...
I agree.
This is absolutely fantastic! The effort you put into this is completely visible! The way you covered the entirety of the show was so beautiful! Best Doctor Who Tribute ever!
Oh, I'm sooo happy!!!
"Fantastic"
"surely being around me makes you clever by osmosis"
gotta remember that one XD
Me too on that.
I always find myself coming back to this. It is the entirety of who the Doctor is, the Doctor’s story of tragedy, peculiarity, morality, and you can’t forget the jokes. An absolute masterpiece of their unforgettable story. Thank you for this!
"The laws of time are mine and they will obey me" still my favourite quote from Doctor Who, thank you for including it. Ten will always be my doctor
This is absolutely amazing! At multiple times throughout the video I was like "holy shit, holy shit, this is amazing!"
All I can actually say is just... Wow. Well done and thank you for this amazing video!
You are an angel! And I'm crying, thank you very much!!!
Wow, it felt like yesterday was the 50th anniversary, and now we're closer to the 60th one, I feel old
I don't often leave a comment. But twenty minutes. Twenty enormous minutes. Twenty ridiculous minutes of fifty five years, a lifetime. Just the twenty minutes it needed to travel through this Time. Everything that the Doctor was, is, and aims to be, its convictions and what lies deep within him, all the ghosts that stay behind and yet all those who stand alive because of one bloke, one madman in a box, one good man … But in the end, it's you who managed to portray The Doctor in twenty perfect minutes. Congratulations, and thank you. Happy birthday Doctor Who.
Thank you!!!
very good as per usual.
I hope when we get to 60 years that the big special is about the Companions having to come back to save the doctor, but also learning that lots of times the doctor can't save everyone he's not perfect like they see him as. He has let some die, left others on a Parrel earth and erased himself from Donna. I haven't thought much more about it but also obviously it would be a good time to bring back Jack, Marth, possibly Clara and Me maybe even Rose who knows i just thought it would be cool to see those The Doctor has helped help him.
When the Time Lords were gone in the new series, and with them seemingly *SPOILERS* being destroyed in the latest, my dream scenario has always been the Doctor re-establishing Gallifrey and the Time Lords with the best of his companions, at least those who wish to be. Some will not want it, and that's an interesting story in itself. Making a New Gallifrey with less corruption and more idealism than before. A Gallifrey that's kind, instead of coldly dispassionate. But doubt they'd ever do it. So it lives in my head.
I love that to see them all came together and help save the doctor and there can talk about all they journeys together and how they miss travel with him. It would be cool and then save him
quite a number of the classic era companions still live too, most importantly Ian and Susan still live. One last time, coming full circle, now THAT would be something!
And I cry. Thank You.
How could someone says that Jodie does do not deserve Her place here... genius work.
Thank you!
She is genius and amazing but her scripts are not that great so far, she could use a little character development and some mystery. Jodie is fun to watch and her version has a lot potential, what we need is a writer who can use that potential well. "I am only speaking my mind here, so please do go hating me".
OMG THIS IS A MASTER PIECE ! You are really talented!
Thank you so much!!!
truly a masterpiece, the doctor has faced so much pain and suffering, until you see it in a sequence like this, it's difficult to see how even a character can not only hold onto life, but protect it
Fantastic piece of editing! This was phenomenal! Here's to the 60th Anniversary!
Thank you so much!!!
Fantastic! Brilliant! Geronimo! Allons-y!

I think you are saying that this is stunning ?
It's been quite a run, and I've watched this since 4, oh so many years ago... Keep running Doctor and hope you always keep ahead of the Monsters
I watch this when I’m sad...always makes me feel better.
This it me right in the feels. I've watched doctor who since the renewed edition and have been a admirer since. There is just something about an alien from out of space, whooshing by travelling around a myriad different planets and places in time that is so captivating. The travels leading to companions - but they leave, they have their lifes and the doctor is back to impeding loneliness. David Tennett is my favorite era and I''ve re-watched so many times. I can relate to Tennett's Doctor and his performance is so charming and damn good. My escape is Doctor Who , because life can be depressing (especially now) and you need a distraction, what better than DW.
I’ve watched this maybe a dozen times, over and over, and always cried at the end…. Partly because the person I watched The Doctor’s adventures with, my father, left me two and a half years ago, crossing the Veil between this life and the next… and I miss him terribly being with me when I watch the Doctor, now…. But I won’t stop watching, for myself and his memory. But I also cry because I see how The Doctor is truly a Shakespearean tragic character-whether male or (now) female, it doesn’t matter. Beautiful they all are, in all their regenerations, beautiful in their joy and continuing pain, born from their eternal flaw… unbridled compassion! In the words of the 13th, this video is “Brilliant!”
I was with my father in person five years ago during the worldwide simulcast of “The Day of the Doctor” here in Florida, USA. I would have loved to have shared this video with him! Perhaps I already have. 😉 Thank you for your gift of composing this celebration of _Doctor Who_’s 55th Anniversary. -Geoff.
Thank you so much for your words and for sharing your story with me! It is very important for me.
The Endless Question! Keeping the show alive. Doctor Who??? Doctor Who? Doc..tor Who!?
OKAY, I NEED POPCORNS NOW
This is Doctor Who. Feelings, good or not, are everywhere. Watching it make me feel really special. With some shows, you hope you can you into their univers, but with DOctor Who, you just wait for your Doctor to come pick you to live an adventure. And that’s why I love Doctor Who and I wait him or her or they to came for me more than some people wait their Hogwart’s letter. I’ll wait.
Honestly same if the doctor was real he would need to spend a whole regeneration taking all the fans who wait for him on adventures 😅
Jodie’s doctor can be saved if she does a Sylvester Mccoy and gets darker and more mysterious each series.
Given how series 12 went, I don't think that'll turn out. Seems all the mysteries (even those that regard the doctor i.e. Timeless Child) are happening to her rather then coming from her, unlike McCoy.
that requires dumping the showrunner... he is incapable of anything of the sort
This comment didn’t age well
You’re so right
Chibnall needs to go if they want to save her run

Peter Capaldi, was The Doctor. Amazing
We who are truly Doctor Who fans, know that there is a hero far greater then any Marvel hero. And his name is the Doctor. Because he is smarter, kinder, and more reliable. And that is just scratching the surface of the Doctor. His morals are a power that people underestimate the most.
This is... wow. This is just fantastic.

This is fantastic. It shows the best scenes from the show. I know people didn't really like Jodie but it isn't the actor or the writing that matters, it's the lesson that it teaches you. Doctor Who is based around kindness and how violence isn't the way everything can be solved. It teaches you that kindness and trust goes a long way. Being a whovian is unique and special and people should express that no matter what other people think. I believe that I became a better person just by watching Doctor Who. Doctor Who is about a man who came from just some scared kid to one of the most powerful person in the universe. Also in the end he seems to not accept hiself as the doctor. If you see the doctors eyes, you can see the regret in him. We will always need someone like the doctor. If everyone understood that nobody's perfect then mabye we could have a better world. The Doctor turns ordinary people and makes them better and shows the good in them. Thx for reading this, Allons-y!
Won't forget the Doctor's. Learned so much. Went from now to forever. In.a blue box and loved every moment.
Well he is a mad man in a blue box
In Jodie's words, "Oh Brilliant"
And
In Chris's words, "Fantastic!"

I'm afraid that's not what the canon dictates. You can believe what you want, but it will never be true.

I enjoy the 11th Doctor more than Jody aswell, but the Doctor's gender doesn't dictate how good they'll be.
I have complete confidence that a female doctor could be good, and if that does happen one day, you'll be missing out.
That was a Master Piece. 12/10...... I am blown away how you put all that together, completely blown away. Props to you... Ive first watch Doctor Who in 1987 by a random chance I came across the 5th Doctor Who Peter Davidson, I had no clue what the hell I was watching but it drew me in and I have been a fan every since that evening. You put a lot of work into this and it's paid off. Kudos
Thank you!!!
I understand that the Doctor has problems in the stories now. But this is not so bad. So much hatred for Jody, Chris and the show - they didn't deserve it.
It outgrows all borders! Is the show teaches us that? Because it starts to seem to me that we are watching different shows. The series teaches love, respect, understanding. And in the end, kindness. Be kind!
I sincerely ask you not to spread hatred under my videos.
It spoils not only my mood. You can be critical of the show. But hate is a terrible feeling! I don't need it here.
I didn't make this video for that. The world is already too much hate, don't become a part of something bad!
100% agree, Margarita Life. I am shocked and disgusted by the amount of hatred towards Jody and the show these days. I would think fans would know by now that change has been a major element in Doctor Who from the beginning. It's to be embraced and not shunned for being different.
BTW outstanding video.
