Do you guys have series name ideas for these chat videos?! We're planning on making them a regular thing. Also send us any topics you'd love us to film a conversation about!
The Overland Express
Jason explains more things, lol
Based on all the drama in the chat, I propose: "Jason Defends Things". :D
Excellent recap. I took a group of scouts to Philmont in 2017-many of the same things y’all thought about were the same things we faced. It’s all about getting there-having fun-and getting home. This is a great review for anyone going out into the wilderness. The best equipment is what you can afford and work within your knowledge and equipment and have a great time away from the world
Front Locker and Heated steering wheel highly recommended!
LOL... whatever you guys! You're always sassing me. Maybe a front locker will be in my future. Who can say.
Preach.
@@JasonExplainsThings I forget the channel's name, but the 2 brothers in Oregon with 5th Gen 4Runners compared getting through obstacles with & without a front locker and using A-TRAC. There was maybe one obstacle that made it easier but the 5th Gen 4Runner traction control system did exceptionally well.
Thanks to Chris for wearing clothes. Haha
The things I do for this channel... Under-appreciated 🙄
Comment below! for which topic we need to revisit and shoot an in depth video.
Great review of the trip! This really helps on a realistic approach to planning a successful WABDR trip! Keep up the good work gentlemen!
Thanks Brendan!
EMP? Probably not as likely as a CME event which could disrupt satcoms. But give it time.
Surprised you didn't talk about what kind of chair to bring 😁
I know. Sequel!
It's a very touchy subject for one person in particular. We'd get de-monetized.
Whatever.
Let's go guys! I've got so many ideas... I've wanted to do the whole WABDR, but I don't watch others videos on it, I need to to plan for it. Send it Bend it Mend it is coming to WABDR summer 2024 on a 2023 Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer, on street tires. Pin it and win it, let's go! I'll be prepping to motocamp as my overland setup. I'll take up the front and scout at a faster pace, lol. Let's go, Gents!
Prepping a First Aid Kit
Go Sounders
My man. 👊
5 rigs is perfect cuz I’ll be the sixth
Canada Mike is officially in!
How do I get maps of trails in washington
Please cover “showering” as well, it’s dealbreaker for the wife not feeling clean.
Not a bad idea. I'm still figuring that out. On the WABDR trip it was a good old fashioned "camping shower" with dude wipes each morning. :-)
I brought along a pop-up shower tent and heated up some water one morning. Everyone else wanted to be stinky.
It’s true.
I'm new to getting into Overlanding but have always enjoyed backpacking and normal camping including some dispersed camping. Mostly what I'm lacking is a friend or group of similar minded people to go on these trips with and have fun out in the wilderness! I'd end up going alone or at best in one vehicle with a friend tagging along. Any tips for finding small groups open to having people join them?
Yeah good question. I know there are regional Facebook groups and forums. If there’s a local 4x4 shop you can ask them as well.
How would I get the map for trails in Washington?

Guys, you had mentioned Chumstick in some of your videos and didn’t know how the name originated.
Chumstick is a name of a Native American Tribe from this area
Well that’s embarrassing for me. I live in a town named after a Native tribe.
@@JasonExplainsThings Wenatchee, Chelan, Issaqua?
We live in the mountains of Cashmere
We live 5 miles SW of Cashmere, WA.
We’re very new to overlanding with our 23 Tacoma TRD Off Road.
We’re wanting to make the trip from Wenatchee to Ellensburg. Ellensburg to the West Side of Washington.
The trip from Cashmere to Chelan.
But we can’t find what roads we’re supposed to take other than the typical I-90 route.
What roads do we take to get to these places staying off the paved roads?
Check out our WABDR movie video. In the description we link to some GPS route and paper map resources. You’re essentially wanting to do the WABDR sections 3 and 4.
Both are fantastic by the way. Doing it early in the year may require a lot of cutting fallen trees.
@@JasonExplainsThings I know that you link the GPS, but links never appear on my phone so I can’t see them.
It’s very frustrating
@@JasonExplainsThings I’m having a major surgery in a few days and it’s a 2 month recovery period so we’re looking at July / August time line
Or just stay at Whistlin'Jack
Well now that doesn't count.
They do have rooms! I think we would get too many hate comments if we stayed there on an "Overland trip".
@@aevnate4140we don't want those comments, lol
