  • Our tour of Australia continues as we head down the middle towards Alice Springs. We stay at Bitter Springs and enjoy a beautiful float in the crystal clear hot springs. From here we also spend a day at Mataranka before continuing to a night at the iconic Daly Waters Pub. What an experience this was!!! On our way to Devils Marbles we experience a scary blowout of a Tyrewall on one of our tyres at 100kph.

    Hey Tony, they were Peahens Peacocks are the ones with the big colourful feathers so my wife just told me. Great save that not easy the pull up with a rear blow out even harder when towing glad you both ok. Another stunning video thanks again.

      Thanks Brenton, 😊🙏 yes they were. The Peacock was in the bush keeping an eye on all the girls!!
      Very scary moment with the blowout but thankful there were no vehicles coming on the other side or we would have been in serious trouble. Very lucky to be able to have controlled it and stop safely. 👍

    We remember swimming at both springs way back in the early 70’s when no commercialisation anywhere . Again in 1985 , 2010and 2017 , very different in 2017 and sooo many people . Seems end of season is a good to time to be coming down the middle …….. less people . Glad to see you were ok when the tyre blew . Our only tyre issue ever was a caravan blow out on the Hamersley Iron Railway Road to Millstream NP in 2009 . Lucky we had 4 van wheels . Stay safe and enjoy yourselves .

      Thanks Fleur, I would have loved to have seen the springs back then. They would have been even more beautiful. Mataranka was very commercialised more so than Bitter. We found in September it had quietened down a bit. The springs had times when they were busy but we just sat it out for a while as people came and went. A few times there were only us and a few others.
      The tyre blowout was very scary and we are very lucky no other cars/trucks were coming the other way. Thankful that no one was hurt, just the car, but at least that can be fixed 👍

      @@lappnitup Hi Fiona and Tony , just out of interest we did a trip in October 1972 from Darwin to Pt Augusta , then across the Nullarbor to Perth in a 1970 GTR Torana . Gravel roads from Alice to Pt Augusta and of course the Nullarbor . We were relocating to Perth ( were we live now) after 2 years in Darwin . So you can imagine how wonderful the roads are today but how vehicle construction has changed . We and the car arrived in Perth unscathed albeit a broken high tension lead due to flying across a hidden creek bed before Cooper Pedy . Anyway just a bit of trivia for you .

      Omg a Torana!! Love it!!! Tony owned a Torana in his younger days too 🤣And we complain about rough bitumen roads these days!!!

    Yep it’s bloody scary when a tyre shreds itself like that when towing. Glad to see you are both safe and well. I know you must be shattered with the damage as you love that car 👍

      Thanks Brad, it was bloody scary but so thankful no one was coming the other way. We were shattered about the car but at least it was fixable and no one was hurt. 👍

      Thanks Paul, bloody scary when it blew. Very lucky nothing was coming the other way as we were on the wrong side of the road skidding!
      Didn’t see any signs about feeding the chickens 🐓 🤣🤣. They wouldn’t have taken no for an answer anyway!!! Thanks for your feedback, we really appreciate it 👍

      Thanks Ron, yeah was a bugger with the tyre but lucky no one was hurt other than the car! It was in September. Not overly busy but with the hot springs crowds come and go so we just sit it out a bit and wait for it to quieten down. Daly Waters was packed by 4 pm and we struggled to get a table for dinner !!
      We appreciate your feedback. Thank you 🙏

    Nice video, thanks for sharing. Ito this day i still cant decide which I like better, Bitter or Mataranka. Both have there good and bad points. I got a small glimpse of your rake and broom mounted to your rear bumper, how do you mount them?

    • @lappnitup
      @lappnitup  Рік тому

      Thank you 🙏. We thought Bitter Springs was the nicer of the two even though not as clean we loved the natural feel yo it. Mataranka has been man made but it was cleaner.
      The rake and broom are in a plastic 40mm plumbers pipe screwed with U bolts to the rear bumper. We use the same tube for our 5 metre internet antenna which slots into it perfectly when we are parked up. 😊
