  • After leaving the Flinders Ranges and stopping over night at Glendambo, we finally make it to Coober Pedy, known as the opal capital of the world. We explore some undergound houses, underground churches, opal shops, opal mines and visit Crocodile Harry's origianal dugout! We do the sunset tour out at The stunning Breakaways and explore the local cemeteries in town where we find Crocodile Harry's grave.
Coober Pedy has some weird but amazing sights and well worth a visit.

During my working life I was fortunate to live and work in some wonderful places. In the mid 80's I was fortunate to live and work in Coober Pedy for 2 years. Even today I still rate Coober Pedy as the "greatest" place I have ever lived due to it's uniqueness. I lived under ground and worked above gtound. You mentioned "characters" in the town, well Coober Pedy was definitely punching above it's weight in that department. Have safe travels

      Thank you 🙏
It certainly is a ‘unique’ place. We loved it too. Awesome down to earth people and plenty to see and do. What a great experience you had to live there for a couple of years. 😊
